Major Backstage Update On Samoa Joe's Injury Report by TNA Wrestling News Staff on 05/19/2006 at 12:39 PM
TNA X Division Champion Samoa Joe will be undergoing physical therapy for at least the next three months on his knee and has already started the process with famous sports therapist Tommy Chao in California.
Joe, who has been able to put some weight back on his leg after it locked up at the TNA iMPACT! tapings this past Monday night in Orlando, is expected to take time off from his independent and international bookings in order to rest his knee, but isn't expected to miss any ring time with TNA. Adz sent us word that 1PW has already confirmed Joe pulling out of the 1PW Know Your Enemy event next weekend.
In getting into details about Joe's injury, the major injury was to Joe's posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), which suffered a very serious tear. For those unaware, the PCL prevents the tibia (shinbone) from sliding too far backwards in order to protect the knee from bending in the wrong direction. The tear caused Joe's knee to buckle, which resulted in some severe swelling and pain. If everything goes well with physical therapy, Joe could avoid surgery at this time if healing of the ligament tears goes well. Although, some feel Joe will still have to get surgery down the line.
As reported earlier on TNAWrestlingNews.com, Joe suffered the injury many weeks ago while working for Ring of Honor in Cleveland, OH. Since the injury took place, Joe had been resting his knee to insure that he could still put on the usual fast paced performance at the TNA Sacrifice PPV this past Sunday when he teamed with Sting against Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner. Joe's apppearances for Ring of Honor were set up around protecting his knee. However, after five straight nights of working on it, it finally gave away during a match against David Young taped for Xplosion.
********************************************
So it looks like he'll be doing the TNA tapings and avoiding any indy dates.

I'm glad he'll be taking the time off. I'd hate to see him try to push himself through it and shred his knee entirely.
Edit: Yeah, that makes a touch more sense now.

Joe is a good wrestler, but if he is pulling out of indy dates and only working TNA what is thepoint of rehabbing the knee? he is a pro and loves the ring. The knee isn't going to get better and then down the road he is going to need surgury. I say get the surgury now and be done with it. Let him give up the title for that reason he can't defend it(Who is going to beat him anyway) get Healthy and come back and kick some butt.

That's actually not a bad idea. Especially if you have someone "hurt" him, like in the heavyweight division. Because it lets Joe finish his transition to the heavyweight division after his recovery, and gets the X title off of him (like they should have kept it off of him after the Ultimate X match).

So will anyone consider him a "p***y" if he comes back, after the knee injury, and competes on the PPV?? Seems like he could be fairly tough to me

Wait...how is only working TNA dates huritng his knee. they tape twice a month. Now, remember these are only one hour shows. During one of those tapings, there's a good chance Joe won't appear in the ring at all, maybe doing a run-in or cutting a promo. So he shows his face, wrestles *maybe* once, and then wrestles the PPV. One or two matches a month, with weeks in between any appearances....repeat for a couple of months...if its not a bad injury he could definitely heel completely w/o surgery. TNA's schedule make this a really feasible plan.

And the Trolling continues..... Not to add any fuel to this, but doesnt trolling imply some kind of "laying low, and waiting for an oportune moment to stir some ish up" posting? My definition of troll may be off, but Swarm has been pretty open about all this.

Not usually, but I see your confusion. The term is derived from the fishing technique "trawling", which is basically just dragging a huge-ass net behind your boat and seeing what you catch in it; it really has little to do with the fantasy creatures known as "trolls", who typically do act in the way you describe.

Whats wrong with Swarms comparision between Umaga and Samoa Joe, both guys were in the indies, both are samoan decent, both are entertaining...well...Umaga is anyway, one is in a budget fed and one is in the big time, both are dominate in their fed...even though on fed is comprised of jobbers...but still, Joe is good but Umaga is better!!!

I'd comment on your post, but I couldn't find an on-line translator that speaks "message board."

Hey guys, there's a reason TNA sucks so bad, and Joe is on TNA...if he is so great why do their rating suck?

Ha.
YOU'RE calling ANYone else a smark?
Moaning and groaning about "old guys" that people will still pay to see (such as, oh, Undertaker and Shawn Michaels) at every chance you get?
Dude...you are no less a smark than anyone else on these boards. Your brand of elitism just extends to Big Guys and not Flippy Indy Guys.
