...but at least they could be bothered to show up for work while World (or WWE) champion.
"B-Movie" Christian Cage's title reign is reminding me more of "Hollywood" Hogan than Ric Flair here.

Uh-oh. Is Cage already no-showing?

Not "no-showing"...as in, ditching scheduled tapings...but all he's doing is appearing in pre-recorded segments. I mean, c'mon, you're the World champion and they hold THREE SHOWS A MONTH.

Last time I saw Christian he didn't look like he was in great shape. I would like to see a young guy like Monty Brown wear the belt and have a long reign. Titles don't mean much anymore anyway -- they might as well take a risk and put the belt on a young talent with potential and try to home grow him.

Christian has never been a power wrestler; he's basically in the same shape he's been in for his entire career. Monty is three years older than Christian. Not sure what you meant by "young talent." I like Monty, think he's entertaining, but Christian is a better worker and more capable on the mic than Monty; Brown has a cool catchprase and is fairly limited in the ring. I agree that TNA needs to grow its own talent, but Christian isn't some washed up has-been..he's a dynamic talent who's getting an opportunity that the WWE never would've given him. You could argue that it's the same thing the WWE did with former WCW guys like Austin, Foley, and Jericho. Basically, I disagree with everything you said in your post. But thank you for your support of TNA.

I just meant a home grown talent -- not a guy that they're using based on what he did in another company. As for his being out of shape -- if you noticed when he first came to TNA he looked a little saggy in the middle. Monty isn't the best but he's got potential -- and I would like to see TNA make him a star rather than just push him back into midcard to make room for the latest former WWE acquisition.

You could argue that it's the same thing the WWE did with former WCW guys like Austin, Foley, and Jericho. This wasn't some guy who the WWE fired. He left. He has talent. Even if you take away the fact that he was in the WWE, he is more deserving of being a main eventer than Monty is. Back on topic: Impact is so :meh: that I'm not sure whether it matter if Christian is on live or not. They seem to be spending more time on the Sting storyline anyway.

I think it's a misconception Monty Brown is a young star, like Batista. I can't believe either guy is as old as they really are.
But I guess most people assume just because they're new to the sport, they must be young.

I thought Monty was younger. I really don't know how old either of them are.

Supposedly, Brown is 36 and Batista is 37 (but could be older..depending where you look)
Since Brown was a former college and pro football player, his age should be easy to find out.

These are both accurate. Batista's age can be found on both obsessedwithwrestling.com or at wikipedia. Pretty reliable reference points. Brown's can be found at the same place, plus several NFL stat sites. And I don't actually think real age is as important as its made out to be; the real important thing to remember is how new a character is to the viewers. So its more along the lines of fresh v stale as opposed to old v young. But the points I was trying to make are stil the same, since Christian in TNA is still something fresh.

Yes...perceived age is everything, compared to real age.
After all, Nash got away with calling Arn Anderson "old"...when they're the same age.

There's also the fact that while an older body can't heal as fast as a younger one, someone like Batista might have less wear and tear on his body compared to say Triple H who is roughly the same age but has been wrestling alot longer.

actually I heard that Batista was born January 18, 1966 - which would make him 40 this year. He was originally listed being two years younger, or born in 1968, but supposedly admitted to being older once he became world champ last year and had secured his spot on the roster.

I heard somewhere that Christian is making a movie anyway, so this explains his non-wrestling schedule, though if that were the case they should've put the title on someone else who was going to be around. I started liking TNA when Impact was on FSN, and followed it to Spike. Now, as much as I like a lot of the talent there, I usually can't even sit through a whole Impact show. It's the same stuff every week, the storylines are boring, and there's constantly bs with Jarrett's Army. Who cares??? I am really disappointed in TNA anymore. Guess that means more time rolling the dice...WOOHOO!

He is making a movie...
Just like Hogan would take extended breaks while champion in order to make a movie...hence my comparison.
Christian's not good enough, nor a big enough of a draw to be getting THAT kind of star treatment...hell, Christian's wife is doing more to build the Abyss-Christian match than he is.

It is kinda bad. I would like to see someone like Styles or Joe hold the heavyweight title and let Cage feud with Jarrett or the like.
