I didn't know what to make of TNA this week. I think it was one of those episodes that wasn't stand out good, nor was it incredibly bad... It was just kinda there. Hopefully next week's "go-home" show will be much better.
I liked the build up to the viewing party. It had some great comedy moments, best of which when Eric Young took the tape (and later stuffed it down his trunks), and ran. The tape itself was good. Some funny one-liners from Shelley, and that's never bad. I did not like the end of the tape however. Instead of Sting, we're going to get Steve Borden at the PPV apparently... Why do I have the sudden feeling of deja vu?
A lot of squash matches, which normally I can tolerate... However, there were just too many this week. And on top of that, they simply tried to do too much in a 45 minute time frame. It became blatantly obvious that they were rushing when just 15 seconds after Lance Hoyt beat Kenny King (five seconds longer than the match itself), Konnan showed up in front of the announcers table, and brings out an already half-beaten BG James... You'd think there'd be some sort of subtle segue for this, wouldn't you? Well, there wasn't. With not even enough time to get squash match #57,214.195 out of our mind, we get this.
Team Canada vs. Sabin/Dutt/Lethal was fun for the time. However, the shenanigans with Eric Young and his... um... "package" was quite distracted, but still pretty funny. Dutt takes the Canadian Destroyer like a champ as always, so that gets a thumbs up from me.
The build up to Christian and Monty was okay, but lacked steam early on. At first it came off as one of those "Let's fit possible person into this two-minute angle" type deals. The brawl was okay. I'm hoping they're going to have Christian show up at the PPV with his ribs taped up.
Main event was good, I thought. Nothing blow away, but solid to continue the build for the Ultimate X match. Although, It was quite confusing when, with absolutely no reason given, the ring was equipped with the Ultimate X cables. It would eventually lead to AJ grabbing the X Division title and strapping it it to the cables as a gesture to Joe, who was aghast at the thought of climbing those cables to retrieve his belt. Honestly. He was flabbergasted.
All in all, this was simply just a passable episode for me. Nothing insulted me, and I wasn't out-right bored through the whole show. There was just nothing blow away.
