this is an excerpt from the most recent TNA show...
-Jarrett runs out and blindsides Christian. He works over Cage with punches and kicks. He throws Cage into the ropes, and Cage is able to stop himself and roll out of the ring. Cage walks up the ramp, but Monty Brown runs out from behind him and takes him out with a clothesline to the back. Brown and Jarrett double team Cage around the ringside area. They continue to just annihilate Cage. They lay Cage out across the broadcast table. Jarrett gets a chair. Jarrett with a chair shot to the back of cage. Jarrett screams, "Merry Christmas!" at Cage. They rolls him into the ring. AMW throw Cage into the ropes and Brown nails The Pounce. Jarrett pulls him to his feet and executes the Stroke on Cage on top of the NWA World Title belt. The show ends with Tenay reminding us to tune into iMPACT! next Saturday on New Years Eve for the iMPACT! double header. Talk about death for ratings. A show on Christmas Eve followed by the show airing on New Years Eve next week.
so here is my question...
is Christian a heel now? I'm confused. If he is the face here, why is he rolling out of the ring and escaping the attack of the heel?
I didn't see the show, so maybe the guy writing this made is sound wrong?
can someone who watched explain this to me? I'm not a TNA fan, but I am a Christian fan and I would like to know what they are doing with him at this point and this read just confused me.
Thanks and Merry X-Mass

I only caught the first segment last night...I was getting gifts ready and forgot to tape.
The first segment, Christian came out dressed as Jarrett and Monty and Jarrett attacked him, but Christian snuck out of the ring. As soon as he left, Sting's scorpion and music were played/shown.
Kinda confusing...should be getting Christian over, but drowned him out with Sting.
I hear ya on a lot of points on TNA Rob. I want to like them SOOOO bad, but the booking is confusing and it's very rushed. They have some great athletes, but the show is still missing "it". Maybe it going live would help

I had the show recorded by my TiVo. First segment, Christian cut a pretty good promo on Jarrett. By the end, the crowd was chanting "Double C". Jarrett and the Alpha Male came out and attacked, so Christian bailed out on them. I agree with Trav that the Sting lights and music took away from it.
Later in the evening, Cage wrestled one of the guys from AMW. Christian won despite interference, but post-match, Jarrett came out and attacked him. Cage bailed out of the ring (the odds were against him if AMW recovered), but he walked right into another attack by Monty. Jarrett and Monty wrecked him.
The gave Christian the obligatory babyface beatdown due to numbers (after Jarrett hits him with the steel chair, you're wondering what Rhino and Team 3-D are doing). His first exit from the ring made sense, since he was outnumbered (and fits the personality that he developed over the years) but the second exit was a little more "heelish" since the odds weren't yet in Jarrett's favor.
Overall, Christian's still a face, but they seem to be keeping some of his old WWE personna. Hopefully, they don't overshadow him with Sting.
As for the ratings, I'm sure that Spike and TNA knew that they'd be down these two weeks before they ever signed a contract together (although I wonder why one of the two weeks wasn't moved to the primetime weeknight slot). They're probably hoping that the Sting storyline will convince people to tape/TiVo the shows and watch them later.
Merry Christmas to everyone!

Thanks guys.
If I were TNA, I would not be pushing Sting over Chrisitan. That just doesn't make sense to me. But that's just my opinion.
I still say Styles-Daniels should be feuding over the Title as the fed's two top guys..., but whatever...I wouldn't be over-shadowing Chrisitan with another washed-up temp like Sting.

I have to agree with you. Without a doubt, Christian is the best personality on the show. While they are doing a good job showcasing his talent (while I hate long promos to start a show, Christian really did a great job with it this week, very entertaining), TNA has done a terrible job when it comes to making him Main Event talent. While they have made him and Jarrett the main focus of the shows, instead of Christian getting heat on Jarrett, its the clip art scorpionos getting the heat on Jarrett. Makes no since to me. While I always think the money is having a heel champion with a face challenger, Jarrett is no longer good in that role. Now, if they turn Christian heel, make him the Champ, and have Sting chase him, that may lead to a money....

Well, this is supposed to be a set-up to Sting/Christian vs Jarrett/Brown at the next PPV...that, and Jarrett's always booked himself strong like...um...everyone in wrestling who ever got the book, regardless of what it meant for business.

He was out there for 5 minutes dressing up like Jarrett and ragging on him to start the show though. That's Christian's style. He's not going to physically battle it out with you unless it's in an actual match. He's just going to trash talk and annoy you until it's time to actually lock up. Also most of the Scorpion appearances have been followed by Christian appearing like they ended last week's show with.
Christian has been treated like a big deal since he's entered TNA. When has the WWF ever given him anything close to this kind of push. He's 3-0 so far and 3 wins were about all he got during his last year in the WWF.

I watched the show three time's and it was one of the best iMPACT's in the last several weeks. Infact being the night before Christmas, you would think the ratings would be down... NOT! the ratings went up to a 0.9 on the night. I see Christian taking the belt from Jarrett and Sting will not hold the belt, he in MY VIEW will be a leader outside the ring, but I could be wrong and thats fine by me too. TNA continues to gain grown and they will improve on their problems as time goes bye... and in other great news TNA is heading on the road in 2006 and they're heading to Buffalo, NY my neck of the woods. My View is that TNA continues to deliver solid shows and it will get even better in 2006!

. My View is that TNA continues to deliver solid shows and it will get even better in 2006! Well, I don't know if you can say their shows are "quality." Quality compared to what? I still think that the fed rushes everything instead of taking the proper amount of time to build the storylines. I'm not saying WWE is all that great, but their writers have the timeline down much better tahn TNA's. And I still don't get the Sting/Christian stuff. It really is confusing to the viewer.

TNA would be better in my opinion if they went to a pay per view every two or three months instead of every month. This way they could better build out their angles and the shows would make more sense. I realize that this won't happen because of all the money involved but it's good thinking.

I think WWE should do that as well. Too many PPV's. There's no real feuds because every month they're building towards something different.

Well, and it would be *suicide* for TNA, since they don't draw any revenue from ticket sales, they only have PPV buys and merchandise, which is just now appearing in Wal-Mart and Best Buy...unles their TV deal isn't as draconian as it was with Fox Sports, when they were paying for the time slot as well.
WWE has much deeper market penetration for merchandise, licensing deals and ticket sales to attempt to alleviate pressure on PPV buys...but since their new deal says that USA gets all the ad money anyway, the PPVs are arguably more important that ever.
