I'm Actually interested in this match! This is my first TNA thread I've started! Anyway! I haven't been the biggest fan of the storylines in TNA but this is one I'm looking forward to seeing. I actually hope Samoa Joe wins. Keep the undefeated streak alive! Keep him unbeatable! I don't think he's TNA's savior... Yet. I think he has potential to be the next big thing (no pun intended). Anyway, what do you think TNA fans?

I definitely think that Samoa Joe could be a main eventer in TNA. Putting him over AJ and Daniels could really help push him toward that spot. He seems unstoppable right now. ROH fans already will have an easy time of seeing him as champ. I would not say that he is the savior of TNA but he could very well be part of its salvation.

The two have a history of working well together. I've seen them wrestle in ROH, PWG and the earlier TNA Sacrifice PPV (which with more time would have been really good).
I've liked the way Samoa Joe's been booked so far. They introduced him with the concept of an 'undefeated streak' and had him win the Super X Cup Tournament, a good precursor to bigger things ahead without giving it all away too quickly. Having him beat Styles to win it showed SJ wasn't just another X Division guy, he was at the very least AJ's equal. The triple threat at Unbreakable was a harbinger for Joe taking Daniels spot as AJ Styles lead foil. At the next PPV the attack on Daniels and resulting stretcher job further built SJ as the new lead 'heel' which is something TNA really hasn't been very good at establishing in the past.
The announcers getting over the idea that SJ 'broke the unwritten code of honor' while showing him walking around commemorating his attack weeks after with the blood of Daniels still on his trademark towel is at least a coherent storyline. More of this would be good.

I would love to see this rivalry lead to Samoa Joe vs. AJ and Daniels somehow. It would have to be done in a way that didn't bury AJ and Daniels but also continued to put over Samoa Joe.

I think Joe is going to take the belt from AJ. I mean if they go along with the name of the PPV, this should be a Turning Point within the company and make some major shifts in belts and storylines. This is going to one amazing show!!!

I saw the PPV and it was a very physical match. It was reported that Styles required seven stitches and Joe had his jaw dislocated. Definitely worth a look for those who haven't seen it. Excellent finishing sequence and aftermath as well.

Keller's Turning Point PPV Review
"Styles fired back with a desperation Pele Kick. Tenay and West wondered if Styles's undefeated streak would end. Styles caught Joe on the top rope. Joe tried to turn it into a muscle buster. Styles yanked Joe to the mat into a powerbomb, then hit the Styles Clash at 17:30 for a near fall. Joe kicked out and the crowd popped. Many of them jumped up and down with excitement. Tenay said it's one of the most incredible matches he's ever seen anywhere. Styles went for a roll-up, but Joe yanked Styles into a rear naked choke sleeper. Styles rolled over to reach for the bottom rope. Styles passed out and Joe was declared the winner. Joe helped Styles to his feet and shook hands, but just when it seemed was honoring the "Code of the X Division," he turned and KO'd Styles with the belt. He then grabbed a chair from a woman at ringside, who screamed in fright. The crowd chanted "Joe's gonna kill you." Joe set Styles on the top rope. "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels then charged to the ring and stopped the post-match attack by Joe."

This was a very physical match as was most of the show. Turning Point was very cool and for those who missed it, get the replay. This one was amazing!

The thing that I really like about Samoa Joe and TNA is to me after dominating the X Division he can easily then move up and challenge for the heavyweight title. I also agree with LWPD, I can see some shades of Stan Hansen in Joe.
If anyone is curious about Joe and into ROH go look for the DVD that has Low-Ki vs. Samoa Joe from their ROH's first or second year. Their match is so physical I almost wanted to cry watching it.

Sounds like they have done a great job of building up Samoa Joe and he finally had his first MAJOR win last night that cements him in the elite of the fed.
I guess that guy who started the Samoa Joe being the real deal thread back when he was signed was right afterall.

Samoa Joe actually has a music video up on his homepage featuring the Low Ki match. It's 12.8 MB and runs about 3 and a half minutes. tinyurl.com/9quybSubvert69 If you haven't seen the Joe/Kobashi match yet send me a PM and I'll hook you up. While it's not on the level of the vaunted Hansen/Kobashi 7/31/93...very few matches in recorded history are. I know based off this match Kobashi was so impressed he's invited him to tour with NOAH to do a money rematch and Simon Inoki has offered him opportunities in New Japan. When you take into account that Joe's only in his mid twenties it's really startling how he's become so good so fast, especially when you compare him to the less than sterling development of many of his peers.

To add to what LWPD has just said. It is amazing how quickly Joe has gotten so good. It is even more amazing when you think that he isn't like a Kurt Angle or a Shelton Benjamin, Brock Lesnar, Charlie Haas etc. etc. who have this huge wrestling background. Joe's family are a fairly famous dance troupe. He was a dancer from when he was very young. His athleticism is clearly from that as well as his conditioning. WWE really missed out on something with Samoa Joe. They basically told him that they wouldn't take him unless he lost some weight. Well now if TNA uses him correctly he could be their next big thing. I am looking forward to watching Joe's inevitable rise to the top. On a bit of a side note, do you think that promoters should be using race in a possitiive way to push some guys? If you have seen the movie 101 Reasons Not to Be a Pro Wrestler then you know that Konnan feels that companies need to focus more on the Latino audience, He cites Oscar Delahoya(sp?) and quite a few other Latino boxers as examples of how big someone can get with that Latino audience behind them. In that same movie he is talking to Rikishi and I think Samu about how the Samoan population in the US is rising and how guys like them could become huge if promoters realized that. Now if TNA used this theory of Konnan's with Joe's natural ability and charisma then I would say the sky is the limit. Let me know what you think, especially if you have seen 101 Reasons.

On a bit of a side note, do you think that promoters should be using race in a positive way to push some guys? If you have seen the movie 101 Reasons Not to Be a Pro Wrestler then you know that Konnan feels that companies need to focus more on the Latino audience, He cites Oscar Delahoya(sp?) and quite a few other Latino boxers as examples of how big someone can get with that Latino audience behind them. Now if TNA used this theory of Konnan's with Joe's natural ability and charisma then I would say the sky is the limit. Let me know what you think, especially if you have seen 101 Reasons. Konnan's a renowned self promoter who uses concepts like 'the rise in the Hispanic demo' as a reason why HE should be pushed or should get a cut off of 'managing' hard working Mexican wrestlers with little to no English skills. The demographic phenomena he cites is real, but I don't see him as being a positive part of a successful Lucha initiative in this country. While for many reasons I don't think any pro wrestling promotion can work full time except for Vince, it's been proven that on a targeted sporadic basis Lucha has real legs. For example Lucha Va Voom has done some great numbers running with an all Luchadore crew in cities like LA, Chicago, Cleveland and Atlanta. The numbers were so good they even got mainstream coverage last year as celebrities started showing up for the spectacle. Lucha Va Voom Video www.luchavavoom.com/opening.htmlWhat's most impressive to me is that this was not a huge budget effort, but one that grew from word of mouth due to the perceived quality of the product. Your average local Indy fed would kill for the level of success and mainstream recognition this campaign achieved. Lucha Va Voom used a mix of traditional Mexican booking with a crew of guys like Super Parka, Blue Demon Jr. and Felino, mixed in campy comedy and sex appeal to gain a real world paying audience that expanding _BEYOND_ it's target. It doesn't get much better than that. In terms of executing what Konnan tends to speak about on a larger scale, what would constitute 'success' and who is willing to fund it to get there would be a willing money marks pipe dream....and likely a road straight to bankruptcy!

I think Joe will die off in a little while. He wrestles really stiff (unless he's wrestling a TNA "superstar"), and I think that's why most fans love him. He kicks assteroids! He can make a great wrestler for a long term feud vs. AJ! My only question is how stiff they'll let him wrestle v. Styles if it's not on PPV
Keep the faith

Honestly he will probably not be wrestling Styles a ton off ppv. Plus just because you wrestle stiff doesn't mean that you are risking injury. Injuries come from carelessness and inexperience. Joe definitely has the experience. And it is not like he does a ton of dropping guys on their neck and head like some guys in Japan do.
