Tommy has a good point that Christian could overshadow the rest of Team Canada. But this could really work either way. Remember back to the original nWo when guys like Ted Dibiase and Curt Hennig joined. All those guys did is stand in the background and do cool hand gestures while Hulk Hogan droned on the microphone for 10 minutes. On the other hand it could be more like one of the original versions of the Horsemen, where Flair was the definite spokesman but ALL of the other guys had a role of their own.

Good point. They could see him simply as another Jeff Hardy. Having said that, unlike Jeff, Christian had established himself as a singles star well before he left WWE. He was a borderline Main Event player. It can be argued that Jeff may have been and still might be more 'popular' with general wrestling fans, but if he takes the ball and runs with it, Christian could top him in no time.

That is true...put Christian in as the top dog, and Petey as the X Division bad@$$...Roode and Young on tags and A-1 as bodyguard with D'Amore as mastermind, and it MIGHT work.
Or Christian could inadvertantly bury the lot of them.

That's the catch...with 'inadvertantly' being the key word. It could really work...or it could really mess up a pretty good thing (Team Canada). My thinking is its worth the risk, because the idea of a 4 Horseman type clique with Christian as the 'Mega Star' would be cool and give TNA something that WWE doesn't have. The others would all get their face time, as they've established themselves, but would get the added rub of tagging with Christian, helping him win matches, 6 man tags/stable feuds with other big name guys...the combinations are endless. Having said that, to the general wrestling fan, Christian is about a 6 or a 7 on the fame meter, and the other guys are (at best) a 3 or 4. It may just look weird if Christian is in a group with them...but someone did say he may be buddies with one of the T.C. guys, so if they work that in, it would work.
I hope TNA is treating this addition to the roster with the attention to detail that people on this board are. I think its safe to say that Christian is a very nice pick up for them. (if it is in fact him that's the Big Name)

This is a true statement, but I don't think it's a problem. Just look at the Horsemen in what I would consider its greatest lineup.... Flair, Anderson, Blanchard, Windham. Flair was a 10 while the other 3 guys were somewhere around 6 or 7. Christian needs to be a little bit bigger name so that he can lead them and be their spokesperson. I for one have never been particularly fond of stables that were completely made up of big names. One of my favorite stables was the Hart Foundation in the mid 90's. Bret Hart was the 10, Owen Hart and Davey Boy were 7's, while the Anvil and Brian Pillman were probably 5's or 6's. I consider that well balanced.

Oh I agree that a stable with a clear top guy (or two) and then 'underlings' who are still capable guys are great. Think Benoit in 4 Horsemen...he was about a 3 or 4 at the time, and became a 6 or 7 before he left WCW (a 9 for me...but I'm biased). Arn and Tully knew that Ric was 'The Man' and had amazing (and succesful) careers as members of that team.
I actually read a good article about D-Lo Brown and how he said that the Nation of Domination was an amazing stable that kick started many careers into the next level. The Rock, himself, Owen Hart and (to a lesser degree) The Godfather and Ron Simmons. Good groups are good for wrestling.
I could see Petey Williams get elevated to near Christian status. I could see the benifit of having the tag champs backing Christian up as he had to deal with the likes of Monty Brown, Raven and A.J. Styles. And Christian is one heck of a mouthpeice to replace their 'over the top' manager in promo's.
I think more good can come of this than harm...but harm still could come of this.

Floyd I have to agree that Benoit was a 9 or at least an 8 when he left WCW. I don't think that's being biased. I ran a WCW newsletter at the time and the guys popularity was huge. In fact I'd almost say that he was more popular back then than he is now. Sure he was never used right in WCW, but he's never exactly been used that well in WWE either... but regardless of where he's been, Benoit has succeeded in getting himself over and maintaining a very loyal fan base.

In case anyone cares Christian trademarked the name Christian Cage and is attempting to trademark Captain Charisma. So he will at least have a similar name to what he has now unlike Kip James and some of the other former WWEers.

this forum and the "spoiler" one on this topic should be combined, especially since the info on Christian copyrighting Christian Cage and putting a copyright in on Captain Charisma back on Nov 2nd of this yr was already put up in the spoiler forum last night, two forums for the same topic leads to chaos.
