Sources close to TNA are under the impression that the promotion will announce its new TV deal sometime this week. If earlier rumors are true, that deal will be a primetime Monday night slot (8-10PM) on WGN Superstation.
Although WGN hardly offers the national clearance WCW had during the peak of the Monday Night Wars, the deal would represent the first direct wrestling competition for WWE RAW in years.
If the deal clears, the show would air live every other week, with the taped broadcasts being filmed on alternating Tuesdays.

Well, I wouldn't call it a "war".
Alas poor TNA, I knew ye well.

I actually believe that this could help TNA a lot. Think about it- wrestling fans are conditioned to watch wrestling on Monday nights. If Raw is boring one week, or has a boring segment running, some viewers may flip the channel to the "other" program to see what's going on- especially if they know there's a defection (imagine if Jericho doesn't re-sign and is rumored to be going to TNA). If Impact becomes a more compelling show (and going live half the time should help) then they may keep viewers once they've switched. It should also force WWE to improve their product.
Being in my early 30's, the 2 best periods in WWE history centered around an incredibly charismatic crossover figure (Hogan in the early to mid 80's) and the Monday night wars period of the mid to late nineties. If TNA eventually helps recreate the conditions of the latter boom period, I'll be a very happy camper.

I really hope for TNA's and wrestling's sake that they can succeed on WGN. I don't think that they need to be seen as competition for WWE. They are an alternative. And they will begin their show an hour before Raw starts. If TNA can book their shows right using wrestlers like AJ Styles, Raven, Ron Killings, Chris Daniels, Abyss, Monty Brown, Chriis Sabin, all of Team Canada, Michael Shane and some more of their younger talent along with the established stars like Jarrett and the Outlaw then they could prove to be a success. I for one will watch all of TNA before turning to Raw on Monday nights. It will not be a war like in the mid to late 90s for quite some time though.

WGN, The Superstation out of Chicago, Illinois will not be carrying TNA Wrestling anytime soon, according to e-mails sent out by WGN's webmaster. The e-mails were sent after many fans who had written requesting info about the potential TNA show. The show would have aired every Monday from 8-10 PM WGN's programming department confirmed the e-mails during a phone call this morning. They declined to comment on exactly what caused the negotiations to end with no deal. There is no word on who walked away from the deal, TNA or WGN. At this point, WGN is no longer an option for any potential TV outlet for TNA in the future. Credit: PWInsider.Com Graymar

Wanna bet that someone from TNA thought they were bigger than they really are, and WGN was smart enough to see through it?

Wanna bet that someone from TNA thought they were bigger than they really are, and WGN was smart enough to see through it? This reminds me of a good joke: A guy walks into a butcher shop and the butcher says "I DARE YOU TO GRAB THAT MEAT OFF THAT SHELF UP THERE!" and the guy says... "I'M NO TAKING THAT BET...THE ST(e)AKES ARE TOO HIGH!"
