I recently completed playing the Early Classics years of 2074-2087 and am now working my way through 2087. While playing a televised card tonight, I decided I would like to use one of my retired EC wrestlers to serve as my current play by play announcer and another of my retired EC wrestlers to serve as my current color commentator. I want to do this because I think it would be fun to incorporate even more wrestlers from the recent past into 2087. Plus, the coming out of retirement charts in the 2112 ringside companion means I could occasionally use them in an angle where, for instance, they might be able to return to the ring for a match and thus help push an incoming wrestler (like Lawler did with Hassan in New Year's Revolution last January). But I am still debating which two wrestlers to select to broadcast my televised cards and PPVs for the next few GWF years. Based on how they performed for me in the EC years, I will probably select two of the following wrestlers: Backlash, Torin Caelum, Blood, Hechilles, K. O. Keller, Jammer, Moonstrike, Ricken Prince, and Caiman. Any suggestions on who I should use would be greatly appreciated. I also considered Mimic who I had a tremendous amount of fun using in the past but the problem is I kept him mute during his wrestling years and I would now have to come up with some creative angle to explain his speaking abilities (maybe I can retain him as a camerman or something). Thanks again for any advice you are able to offer me.

I would use Blacklash or Blood for a color commentator. In my EC fed, Blacklash is "Stan Hansen meets Larry The Cable Guy". I think he could bring some humor to your show. Same with Blood, who is kind of like Steve Austin/Sandman in that he loves to party and drink beer.

I use Caelum (straight man/face guy) with Johnny Rocket, and Zachary Carter (who will later become commissioner because of all the injustice he sees) with and Bullwhip on another show.
On show, Caelum and Bullwhip (or Blacklash) would be a good pair.
On a side note, I used Mimic as a guy who actually mimicked other wrestlers, including voice. He really got on under people's skin.

First of all I sincerely want to thank nelson, hollywoodlyn, Big Bri, and The Nature Boy for their input. After reading your responses, I' m leaning towards two specicfic wrestlers to use as my broadcast team but would still highly appreciate any additional advice from other promoters. I like reading this discussion board because I truly respect the creativity abilities and wrestling knowledge of the active members here. Please do not hesitate to offer me any additional advice on whch wrestlers from the Earlty Classic years I should use to do play by play and color commenatator duties in 2087.

I like the idea of using Carter as a commentator first before he becomes the Commissioner, for the reasons you stated, kinda like WWE did with Gorilla Monsoon in the mid 90's |

I decided to use Torin Caelum as my play by play announcer and Blacklash as my color commentator. In addition, I decided to use K.O. Keller as my general manager for the next few game years and Caiman is going to host a segment (sort of like Carlito's but better) called The Swamp on each of my two televised cards per month.

I'm surprised to see this thread that I started 2 1/2 years ago back on the first page, but I continued using Torin Caelum and Backlash as my announcers from 2087 all the way until the GWF left for Dimension Y in 2110. At that point, my new announcers became Incredible Bager and DragonMaster. |

As for the point of the thread, does anyone other than me plan to use Silver as a play by play man? His wrestling career wasn't stellar, but he could make a decent announcer. As for color, I think Mangus would be kind of cool, a little like Morbo the News Monster on Futerama.
And what about doing a commentary team of....Sin and Salvation?
