The Ultimate Wrestling Federation debuted with an incredible one-night event. Sixteen past and present champions were invited to take part in the Champions Cup Tournament, live from St. Paul, MN.
The opening round featured tag team matches with the partners being randomly determined. All through the night it would be "the walking riot" Missy Hyatt pulling the balls out of the bin with the wrestlers names.
Nick Bockwinkel (World CH) & Giant Baba vs. Mil Mascaras (U.S. CH) & Destroyer (World Tag CH)
A huge opening match with the current and former world champ on one team, and two former world champs on the other. The masked duo of Mascaras & Destroyer are not at all happy about being partnered and struggled to work together through the match. Bockwinkel, and manager Bobby Heenan, said he didn't like teaming with Baba but knew that he was honorable and would work with him to win the match.
There were multitudes of two counts during the course of the contest. Baba caught Destroyer coming in with a boot in the corner. After a pair of back suplexes, the Neckbreaker Drop put away the Destroyer, and Mascaras left the ring in discust.
Harley Race & Jimmy Valiant vs. The Sheik & Gorgeous George
This had feuding Heenan and Albano team members -- Race & Valiant -- on one team, and a contrast in styles to say the least on the other.
Valiant went right at the Sheik and stood toe to toe on the outside. The Sheik stabbed Race with a foreign object and then tossed the Fire Ball, but Heenan kept his man from getting pinned. Valiant had George in major trouble with a piledriver, neck breaker and the Sleeper. Later the Grand Wizard saved the Sheik after two piledrivers. It continued back and forth until a Sleeper and then a neckbreaker gave Valiant the pin on the Sheik. Immediately after the three-count Race attacked Valiant and the two brawled all the way to the back.
Buddy Rogers & Greg Valentine (U.S. Tag CH) vs. Buddy Rose & Iron Sheik
Fans welcomed Buddy Rogers back into the ring as he has been away from both ICW and the USWA recently. The Nature Boy and the Hammer controlled the bout. The Iron Sheik had the Camel Clutch on Rogers while later it was the Grand Wizard and Sherri Martel saving the Sheik. Valentine used the Figure Four to get the submission on the Iron Sheik.
Johnny Valentine (I-C CH) & Rikidozan vs. Ox Baker & Masked Superstar
Masked Superstar & Ox Baker put a hurting on Rikidozan to start. Johnny Valentine felt the Cobra Hold and was nearly counted out after an awesome clothesline sent him to the floor. Masked Superstar saved Baker after a falling leg drop. Dozan survived the Heart Punch but Masked Superstar pounded away and scored the pin with a clothesline in what has to be considered an upset.
The tag team portion determined the eight men that would be randomly placed into the first round of the Champions Cup Tournament
First Round
Greg Valentine vs. Ox Baker
Baker started out hammering the Hammer, but missed a charge into the corner. Valentine then took over with the Figure Four, neckbreaker, and an elbow drop to get the pinfall.
Harley Race vs. Jimmy Valiant
The men who were forced to team up got to face each other one on one, with Heenan and Lou Albano both at ringside. After a back and forth fight, Albano had to come in after a piledriver on Valiant. Heenan got in his face and then Albano chased the Brain all the way to the back. Race was doing well on hnis own until running into the boot of Valiant. The Boogie Woogie Man put the Sleeper on and got the win to advance.
Masked Superstar vs. Giant Baba
The two traded blows until Baba started planting the Superstar with back suplexes. After three in a row he then blasted him with the Neckbreaker Drop to win the match.
Buddy Rogers vs. Nick Bockwinkel
The world champion was very displeased with drawing Rogers in the first round, and Heenan was nowhere to be found as the match started. Rogers looked great in this one and the fans were fired up at the thought of Bockwinkel going down in the first round. Bockwinkel got his share of two counts using Rogers' own Figure Four and the piledriver. Bockwinkel pulled out a win with the Sleeper and then the Figure Four to reach the semifinals.
Semifinals
Greg Valentine vs. Jimmy Valiant
Teammates in Albano's Army had to go at it in the semifinals, a rematch from the USWA portion of the TV title tournament that saw Valentine get the win. Albano let these two decide it on their own and did not come to ringside. The two went right at it and the Hammer got the advantage until Valiant used a steel chair. They continued to battle outside and it was Valentine taking the win with the Figure Four.
Giant Baba vs. Nick Bockwinkel
Heenan was back at ringside, but was all bandaged up after an apparent beating from Albano. Bockwinkel worked hard but Baba survived the Figure Four and the Sleeper. Baba missed a leg drop and the world champion got the three count with a piledriver.
Challenge Match
Road Warriors vs. Kangaroos
The Legion of Doom were tired of hearing the Kangaroos whine about not getting a title shot. "We're the former champions and should be next in line. We're going to show you why we're the best there is."
It was all out war as these two teams tore into each other. The Kangaroos got the advantage on Hawk, but Animal used a power slam and then the Doomsday Device forced Wild Red Berry to interfere. Another big brawl ensued and both Berry and Paul Ellering got involved. The match finally was called a double DQ with nothing being settled between these teams.
Champions Cup Finals
Greg Valentine vs. Nick Bockwinkel
The Hammer made a surprise appearance in the finals, with Lou Albano, against the world champion Nick Bockwinkel, with Bobby Heenan. Valentine repeatedly dropped devastating elbows and battered Bockwinkel with chops. The turning point came when Bockwinkel missed and hit the steel ring post. Valentine rolled him up and got the three count to pull off a stunning upset victory and win the Champions Cup Trophy!!!

NOTE: I started this tournament with my nephew Shaun. I didn't want to slow things by making notes about the matches so I don't have much detail on some of the bouts. They were all real good matches as we played most of day one, and then I finished those matches tonight.
The Family Feud Philadelphia Spectrum March 21-25, 2118
The Ultimate Wrestling Federation is back with its second special event involving the wrestlers of the ICW and the USWA. A five-day, round robin tournament involving those wrestlers related to each other in order to see who is the top family in wrestling today. The UWF has declared that there will be no managers permitted at ringside for the duration of the tournament.
Block A
Bob Armstrong vs. Iron Mike DiBiase
The elder Armstrong controlled most of the match and won with the Sleeper.
Larry Hennig vs. Bob Orton Sr.
Orton wasn't prepared for the power of the Axe. Hennig exploded with high-impact moves and put away Orton with the Axe, winning the match in under one minute.
The Sheik vs. Mad Dog Vachon
This match was a major brawl the entire time as the Mad Dog fought with the same tactics that the Sheik likes to employ. Mad Dog actually dominated the majority of the contest, but Vachon went down after another trip to the outside and the Sheik managed to get the win.
Johnny Valentine vs. Jimmy Valiant
A short match that went back and forth with both men seeing a chance to pick up a win. It ended when the Boogie Woogie Man was disqualified.
Block B
Brad Armstrong vs. Ted DiBiase
Another exciting, evenly and hard fought match. Armstrong held his own but the veteran DiBiase battered him with the loaded glove to take the win.
Curt Hennig vs. Bob Orton Jr.
Mr. Perfect didn't have to work too hard to get a win over Orton Jr.
Sabu vs. Butcher Vachon
The Butcher received an incredible beating from Sabu. Butcher wouldn't stop fighting though and rallied time and time again. Sabu proved to be tougher and finally inflicted enough punishment for the win.
Greg Valentine vs. Johnny Valiant
A pair of Lou Albano's charges faced off in this one. Valiant would seem to be at a disadvantage in singles action, but he was able to score a big upset win over the Hammer.
Block A
Bob Armstrong vs. Larry Hennig
These two ring veterans went toe to toe. It could have gone either way, but it was the Axe coming out on top with another big win.
Mike DiBiase vs. Bob Orton Sr.
This match put the former U.S. tag team champions against each other. Orton Sr. won a short match with the piledriver.
Sheik vs. Johnny Valentine
This was another wild match with the former I-C champ the Sheik and the current title holder. Valentine held his own against the rule-breaking ways of the Sheik and won his second match in a row by D.Q.
Mad Dog Vachon vs. Jimmy Valiant
The Boogie Woogie Man held off the attack of the Mad Dog to get the win.
Block B
Brad Armstrong vs. Curt Hennig
Brad Armstrong came out really fast and very nearly finsihed off Mr. Perfect on many occasions. Armstrong had his chances but Perfect came back and used all of his offensive moves. Armstrong held off defeat as long as he could before finally being pinned with the Perfect Plex.
Ted DiBiase vs. Bob Orton Jr.
DiBiase dominated this one and bashed Orton repeatedly with the black glove to get the victory.
Sabu vs. Greg Valentine
The Hammer never gave Sabu a chance the entire match to put together any offense. Sabu kept from being put in the Figure Four Leglock but ended up being D.Q.ed
Butcher Vachon vs. Johnny Valiant

Good read. Todd will be thrilled with all the tournaments.
Question - in the Sabu/G Valentine Family Feud match, why does Sabu get more points than Valentine if he lost the match by DQ?

Hi Tim. After some time off for not real reason I guess I'm back into my Legends. Sabu def. Butcher Vachon in his first match of day 1 for two points. Then Greg Valentine won by DQ to earn one point. So after the first day Sabu has two points total.
Same scoring system New Japan uses, most of the time, for its G-1 Climax, and the Family Feud is using the same format that they did in 2004.

Looking for opinions on what I should do with the ties in each block of the Family Feud. Sometimes New Japan has decision matches to see who advances into the final single elimination tournament.
Here is how things look:
Block A Three wrestlers are tied for second with 7 pts. Larry Hennig defeated both Bob Orton Sr. and Bob Armstrong. Orton defeated Armstrong. So, I could just say Hennig gets second place and Orton third. Or there could be a decision match to determine second and third place.
Block B Johnny Valiant and Greg Valentine both tied for second place with nine points. Sabu and Curt Hennig each have eight points. Valiant defeated the Hammer and Sabu beat Hennig. So Valiant could get second and Valentine third and be done. Or, have those two wrestle again for second and third place. Looks like Sabu and Hennig are out.
Thanks for your thoughts.
{edit} Ok, I'm looking at the 2004 G-1 Climax that was my model for this tournament. There was a third place decision match because Chono and Nakamura tied with 8 pts. and their match ended in a draw. Two men tied for first with 8 pts and it went to the winner, so maybe I don't need any extra matches this time since there was a clear winner in the one-on-one matchups during round-robin play.

I'd agree that the head-to-head record should be used as your tiebreaker.
It gets tough when you have a three way tie where everyone is 1-1 against the others. At that point, I'd either have them all fight again or do a triple threat/3 way dance.

The Family Feud
Championship Round Day 5
Quarterfinals
Larry Hennig vs. Greg Valentine
The Hammer is on top to start, but misses a charge in the corner. Hennig nails him with the Axe and a double forearm hammer sends Valentine outside where he is counted out of the ring.
Johny Valiant vs. Bob Orton Sr.
Valiant controls the match with a neckbreaker and boston crab. He misses off the top rope and kicks out. Orton with the step over toe hold, a suplex and then the Piledriver finishes off Valiant.
Semifinals
Ted DiBiase vs. Larry Hennig
Hennig takes over with his power moves. DiBiase fights back outside and catches Hennig with a big elbow and scores the three count.
Johnny Valentine vs. Bob Orton Sr.
Valentine is dominating Orton from the outset. After a couple finishers Orton comes back after going to the floor. Orton takes over and then it goes back and forth until Valentine hits the Skullcrusher for the win.
10-man Battle Royal
Vachons double the Sheik and throw him out right at the start. Butcher Vachon elim. The Queen's Cup April 11, 2118 Osaka, Japan
The Ultimate Wrestling Federation has the honor of hosting the Queen's Cup Tournament to determine the first ever NWA womens world champion.
The first round was drawn completely at random including the three byes that went to Luna Vachon, Heidi Lee Morgan and Malia Hosaka. Sherri Martel was asked her thoughts before the tournament began and she was very irate over not being given a bye and said that womens title will be coming to Sensational Sherri Martel!
Experts said Ida Mae and Sherri Martel could have an advantage since they have been able to have some matches over the last year or so that the other competitors have not.
First Round
Ida Mae Martinez vs. Madusa Miceli

Ida stepped up the attack with a full nelson suplex but then both ladies went down in the corner. Madusa recovered and got the three count with an airplane spin.
Sherri Martel vs. Jazz
Jazz wasn't intimidated at all by the more experienced Martel. Sherri got the jump but Jazz came back with the Stinger and a leg drop. Jazz hit a splash, leg drop and choke slam and then blasted Martel in the corner and had all the momentum in her favor. Jazz didn't let up after a trip to the floor and applied the STF. Sherri fought back with a small package but Jazz was relentless. Martel managed to climb back in the ring and avoid being counted out and then kicked out at two again. Sherri rallied but Jazz survived the top rope splash. Martel hit off the top again and got the pin to reach round two.
Yumi Fukawa vs. Reggie Bennett
A tremendous mismatch in size and power in this one. Bennett took over with a tiltawhirl slam but missed a leg drop off the second rope. The tiny Yumi flew around the ring with a missile dropkick sending Bennet to teh floor. Yumi went to the figure four and a top rope huracanrana. Bennett caught Yumi and planted her on the concrete floor. A top rope splash and the Global Bomb apeared to be it for Yumi but she got out of the way of a top rope splash. After a double clothesline Yumi pulled off the upset with a missile dropkick and the figure four leglock.
Misty Blue Simms vs. Princess Victoria
Misty Blue was the heavy favorite in this one. She started off with the scorpion, surfboard, dropkick and a slinshot suplex to establish control over the Princess. Victoria hit a dropkick and her trademark chops. A slingshot and then a double tomahawk pinned Misty Blue and sent the Princess into round two.
Alexis Laree vs. April Hunter
This was another match with a big power wrestler in "The Prize" April Hunter and the speedy Alexis Laree. Alexis caught April with a springboard moonsault to the floor and then a top rope cross body. Alexis missed in the corner and April quickly put her away with the Head Hunter.
Quarterfinals
Luna Vachon vs. Madusa Miceli
Madusa wanted to get this one over with and got to Luna before the bell with a running knee lift. Luna quickly came back with the Lunar Eclipse and started to take over the match. Madusa hit a snap suplex for a two count but outside it was Luna with a chair. The fight went back and forth until Luna missed off the top rope and Madusa made the cover and scored the pin.
Sherri Martel vs. Heidi Lee Morgan
The match started fast and Sherri hit her splash for a two count and continued the assault with a leg drop, suplex and small package. Heidi Lee got a foot on the ropes following another splash, but Martel went up top again and finished her off to reach the semifinals.
Yumi Fukawa vs. Princess Victoria
Yumi came out fast with a missile dropkick. Victoria hit a knee to the head and a pair of slingshots for a two count. The Princess came off the top rope, hit the double tomahawk and notched her second big win.
April Hunter vs. Malia Hosaka
Malia hoped her experience advantage would counteract the power of April Hunter. It didn't as April chokeslammed her and slapped on the Hunter Lock and got a two with the Head Hunter. April dominated but Malia came back with a karate kick for a nearfall. Both wrestlers avoided the other's moves until April landed the Head Hunter to win the match.
Semifinals
Madusa Miceli vs. Sherri Martel
This was expected to be a great match and the fans saw a classic. Sherri kept Madusa down on the mat. Martel drug Madusa in and out of the ring. The fight went back and forth and both managed to kick out multiple times. Madusa almost won with a back suplex but then outside again Martel fired her into the railing. Sherri connected with the top rope splash but the bell ring signaling a time limit draw. Both wrestlers were eliminated from the tournament.
Finals
Princess Victoria vs. April Hunter
That meant the other semifinal match was now for the championship. Princess Victoria was on fire from the start and April seeked refuge outside the ring. Victoria came off the top and off the ropes to keep April offbalance. She hit dropkicks and chops but April continued to kick out before three. Victoria missed a diving clothesline to the floor but was able to get a shoulder up after the Head Hunter. April used the Hunter Lock, a power bomb and a german suplex but couldn't finish off the Princess. April survived another tomahawk but Princess Victoria hit the ropes and landed a high cross bodyblock for a three-count to win the NWA womens world championship!

The Ultimate Wrestling Federation is poised to present the most important one-night event in the short company history. On May 16 in Dublin, Ireland, the UWF will host Pain & Punishment!
This hardcore show will change the course of wrestling history with the main event. Current world heavyweight champion "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka has signed to face Bruiser Brody in the first ever Hell in a Cell Match!!!
The added significance of this match is that despite warnings from the NWA board of directors that if the champion takes part in this match he will be stripped of the world title, Jimmy Snuka stated he will meet Bruiser Brody inside the cage regardless of what happens with the belt.
The rest of the card is filled tremendous grudge matches.
There will be a 15-man Double Ring Battle Royal. All the wrestlers will start in ring one and when eliminated will proceed to enter ring two. Once tossed from there you are gone for good. The last man left in each ring will square off to determine the winner.
The participants are: Masked Superstar, Yukon Eric, Missing Link, Killer Kowalski, Justin Credible, Dallas Page, Crusher, King Kong Bundy, Ox Baker, Steve Williams, Ivan Koloff, Don Muraco, Steve Corino, Dick Hutton and Ilio DiPaolo.
For the first time in wrestling history there will be a Mixed Tag Team Match. Playboy Buddy Rose has gotten Yumi Fukawa to be his partner and they will take on Buff Bagwell and Sherri Martel. Martel used to manage Rose but she got rid of him and left for ICW to be a part of the womens division. Rose hasn't been the same since she dumped him and wants revenge. To make matters worse for the Playboy Martel has teamed up with his former partner.
Frank Gotch will take on George Hackenschmidt in a best two out of three falls match. These two men accepted the challenge to face one of the best mat wrestlers out there. These veterans have not met one and one very many times in the past.
Mil Mascaras battles Konnan in a Mexican Death Match. This feud took off when Konnan began running down the famed Luchador on the mic and claiming to be a much bigger film and television start than Mascaras.
In a Six-Man tag team Elimination Match, Rikidozan, Mike and Ted DiBiase go up against Buddy Rogers and Bob Orton Sr. and Jr. These men have been going at is since Rogers and the elder Orton arrived on the scene at Wrestlemania II.
Former Heenan Family members and world champions Harley Race and Nick Bockwinkel have been battling since Snuka took the title at Wrestlemania II from Bockwinkel. Other family members have been drawn into this confrontation and now Race and Bockwinkel will go at it in a Last Man Standing Match.
Several wrestlers that have been missing in action since Wrestlemania II return for this special event. It will be a War Games Match, a double ring enclosed by a giant steel cage. The team of the Sheik, Sabu, the Terrible Turk, the Iron Sheik and the Sandman face the contingent of Bobo Brazil, Johnny Valentine, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and the Road Warriors!!!
Finally, the main event is another first in this sport. A Hell in a Cell Match pits Jimmy Snuka against former friend and partner Bruiser Brody. This monstrous structure completely encloses the ringside are in steel with a roof above. The likelihood that both wrestler make it off this one uninjured is very slim.

Pain & Punishment May 16, 2118 Dublin, Ireland
The Ultimate Wrestling Federation is back with the most spectacular super-show yet. So much controversy has surrounded this event as the NWA World champion Jimmy Snuka is set to meet Bruiser Brody in the first ever Hell in a Cell match!
The NWA board of directors and the championship committee do not want Snuka to take part in this extreme type of match. Snuka has been told if he does indeed compete here tonight they will have no choice but to strip him of the world heavyweight title.
15-Man Double Ring Battle Royal
The evening began with a double ring battle royal where once thrown from the first ring you get in the second one and keep fighting. The Masked Superstar emerged as the winner in ring A while Killer Kowalski survived in the second ring. These two squared off and it was the Masked Superstar coming away as the winner. (note: I can't find my paper with more details on this one)
Mixed Tag Team Match
Buff Bagwell/Sherri Martel def. Buddy Rose/Yumi Fukawa by D.Q.
For the first time ever in wrestling history a mixed tag team took place. Rose wanted a chance to get back at his former manager Sherri Martel. The men squared off until Fukawa dove to the outside on Bagwell. It was a back and forth contest and the disqualification came when Rose slammed Martel off the top rope while she was preparing to splash Fukwaka.
Best 2/3 Falls Match
Frank Gotch def. George Hackenschmidt, 2-0
These two superior mat technicians faced off and Hackenschmidt went to work on the back. Gotch took over and maintained the advantage most of the time, winning the first fall via the Toe Hold. The second fall came when Gotch used Hack's momentum to fire him into the corner and score a quick pin.
Lumberjack Match
Brutus Beefcake def. Greg Valentine
These two former U.S. and World tag team champions only recently split up after the Hammer, the Valiants and Lou Albano turned on Beefcake. Both men received beatings from the Lumberjacks on the outside. Beefcake pulled off the win after catching Valentine with the Flying Knee Smash.
Mexican Death Match
Konnan def. Mil Mascaras
These two Luchadors collided in this special match because of Konnan's recent attacks on Mascaras but also because of the way he has bad-mouthed the legend and feels he is the bigger television and movie star in Mexico. Konnan kept the advantage with hardcore moves and foreign objects outside the ring. The Masked Superstar showed up out of nowhere to help Konnan steal a win over Mascaras.
Elimination Match
Buddy Rogers, Bob Orton Sr./Jr. def. Rikidozan, Mike/Ted DiBiase
Rikidozan completed the strong triple teaming at the beginning by finishing off Bob Orton Jr. with some massive chops. Buddy Rogers turned the tide and evened the match by eliminating Rikidozan with the Figure Four. Iron Mike DiBiase got rid of Rogers after a Top Rope Knee Drop. A weary Orton Jr. defeated Mike DiBiase with a splash. Ted DiBiase then got caught in the corner and Orton Jr. emerged as the sole survivor.
Last Man Standing Match
Nick Bockwinkel def. Harley Race
These two former Heenan Family members have been at each other's throats in an effort to keep the other from getting a title match. Bockwinkel was more vicious than ever before as Race was battered from pillar to post. Race managed very little offense as Bockwinkel never let up and eventually Race could not continue and was put away with the Sleeper.
War Games Match
Bobo Brazil, Johnny Valentine, Jim Duggan, Road Warriors def. Sheik, Sabu, Terrible Turk, Iron Sheik, Sandman
The War Games is an incredible brutal environment with two rings surrounded by a steel cage with a roof. Two men start and then one team gets the advantage the rest of the match until all 10 have entered. Only then can the match end by submission or surrender.
Johnny Valentine and the Sandman started the match knowing they would be in there all the way to the end. After five minutes the Sandman had the upper hand when Sabu entered the match.
They double teamed Valentine until Sabu missed the triple jump moonsault and the Animal came in to even the match. These four fought until the Sheik entered the match. Sheik and Sabu worked on Valentine while Animal and Sabu fought in the other ring.
Bobo Brazil exploded on the Sheik when he entered the cage. He attacked with reckless abandon until a thumb in the eye stopped him cold. The Terrible Turk came in next and a triple team on Brazil ensued. Sheik put Bobo in the Camel Clutch until the Hawk entered the fray.
Hawk went after the Sandman while Sabu missed another high risk move giving Animal an opening. The Sheik drew blood on Bobo with a foreign object. The Iron Sheik came in next and helped to put a hurting on Bobo.
This continued until Jim Duggan came in the cage and the Match Beyond began. The 10 men would not quit and the fight went on much longer than anyone could have thought possible.
Bobo would not give up to the Camel Clutch. Duggan found himself in serious trouble but Hawk made the save. The Turk seemed ready to get an I Quit out of Valentine. It was Hawk that flew from one ring to the other and laid out the Sandman. He used a standing neckbreaker to get the Sandman to submit to win the match.
Hell in a Cell Match
Jimmy Snuka def. Bruiser Brody
The fans were on their feet for the main event and when Jimmy Snuka came out the arena rocked. So much was on the line as the Superfly would be stripped of the world title for wrestling this match but that is how much he wanted to take care of his former tag team partner Bruiser Brody.
The battle was unbelievable. How could these men sustain so much punishment and keep fighting toe to toe? The pair fought up the cage wall and onto the roof. It was there that Brody powerbombed Snuka and the cage roof broke! Snuka plummeted down to the ring with a thud.
Snuka was not done though as somehow he was still able to go back and forth with Brody. The was could have ended with either man coming out on top. The two once more fought to the top of the cage. Don Muraco ran out and joined them on the roof and helped Brody get back in command as they went back inside the cage.
Incredible the Superfly wouldn't stop coming back at Brody. Both men were covered in blood. Jimmy Snuka climbed to the top of the cage and dropped back down on top of the prone Brody. Snuka got back up. Brody did not. The Superfly was declared the winner of the match, but at what cost?
