Hi all,
Here's my first big card since receiving Legends Teams. I wanted to crown my new champs as quickly as possible since the titles have been vacant for nearly 2 months. No major storylines, just tons of matches. Enjoy!
Take care,
Jay

SAGA Supercard
7-15
At SAGA's new home:
The Playstation Arena
Asheville, NC
Attendance: 26,000
General Manager Shon Maxx set up a 3-day event (Friday night to Sunday) with tournaments to crown new Heavyweight, Tag Team, and Regional Champions.
(Note: The brackets for all matches are determined at random and also change randomly each round.)
Heavyweight Title Tournament Round 1:
1. Ted Dibiase pinned Don Leo Jonathan after a swinging neckbreaker.
2. Frank Gotch forced Richard Hutton to surrender to the Gotch Toehold.
(Great match even though Gotch annihilated Hutton!)
3. Steve Williams pinned Bruiser Brody after an Oklahoma Stampede.
(Very brutal match that went back and forth for nearly 15 minutes!)
4. Rikidozan defeated Killer Kowalski by disqualification when Kowalski brutalized Rikidozan on the floor. After the match, Kowalski locked the dreaded Claw and refused to let go until Rikidozan's manager, Street Reaper, flew into the ring. Rikidozan was bleeding severely.
5. Dan Severn forced Ed Lewis to submit to the Wakigatame.
(My favorite match of the night; Now this was classic wrestling at its best!)
6. The Sheik pinned Konnan after throwing a Fireball.
(The referee must have been looking at a female fan because he never saw the huge flame and Sheik's manager, The Grand Wizard, didn't even have to distract him.)
7. Giant Baba pinned King Kong Bundy after a Neckbreaker Drop.
(Baba's manager, Street Reaper, trained him well before the match. Baba no-sold an Avalanche before flooring Bundy).
8. The Terrible Turk defeated The Crusher with The Stranglehold.
(Turk's manager, Dr. Barnabase, was a major factor in this match.)
Heavyweight Tournament Round 2:
1. Giant Baba pinned Ted Dibiase after a Neckbreaker Drop.
2. The Terrible Turk defeated Dan Severn with the Stranglehold.
(Again, thanks to Barnabas' help)
3. Frank Gotch beat The Sheik by count out when The Turk interfered.
(Sheik chased the Turk out, and got thrown out of the building for attacking several officials. Turk didn't get thrown out because he never touched Sheik. The fans booed GM Shon Maxx, but he admitted he had no choice.)
4. An injured Rikidozan defeated Steve Williams.
(The injury lit a fire under Rikidozan because he obliterated Williams.)
Heavyweight Title Tournament Semifinals:
1. Giant Baba pinned Frank Gotch after a Neckbreaker Drop.
2. The Terrible Turk defeated Rikidozan with the Stranglehold.
(Rikidozan fought with everything he had, but he lost too much blood and passed out.)
Finals will occur at the end of the card.
Tag Team Title Tournament Round 1:
1. Killer Kowalski and Ed Lewis defeated Ox Baker and Yukon Eric when Lewis made Ox pass out to the Headlock.
2. The Wrestling Conduct Council (Red Bastein and Billy Lyons) upset Dan Severn and The Crusher when Bastein pinned Severn with his feet on the ropes.
(Lyons had dropkicked Crusher off the apron.)
3. Perfectly Ravishing (Rick Rude and Curt Hennig) beat the Singapore Kings (Sandman and Justin Credible) by disqualification when Sandman used his cane on Hennig. After the match, a masked man ran out and stole Credible's cane, and Credible and Sandman chased him to the back.
4. Larry Hennig and Ray Stevens beat Steve Williams and Ted Dibiase when Stevens pinned Dibiase after a fistdrop.
Tag Team Title Tournament Round 2:
1. Perfectly Ravishing defeated Larry Hennig and Ray Stevens when Curt pinned his father with a Hennig Plex.
2. The WCC defeated Kowalski and Lewis by count out after a double cross body on Kowalski and Lewis.
Finals will appear later on the card.
Regional Title Tournament Round 1:
1. Dan Severn defeated Steve Corino with the Choke Sleeper.
2. Konnan defeated Bruiser Brody by DQ. Brody threw a fit afterwards.
3. Don Leo Jonathan defeated Chris Candido with a Morman Swing.
4. Richard Hutton beat King Kong Bundy with Abdominal Stretch.
(This was, without a doubt, the most BORING match of the year! Hutton played off the fans' boo's at the end).
Regional Title Tournament Round 2:
1. Don Leo Jonathan pinned Konnan after a top-rope cross body.
(That had to hurt!)
2. Richard Hutton upset Dan Severn with a sleeper.
(Okay, now I'm ticked!)
Regional Title Tournament Finals:
1. Don Leo Jonathan pinned Richard Hutton after a Mormon Swing to win the title.
(I bet the fans loved that since they started to hate Hutton!)
Tag Team Tournament Finals:
1. The WCC defeated Hennig and Rude, when Bastein pinned Rude after an Atomic Drop, to win the titles.
(I'm Still shocked at this one!)
Heavyweight Title Finals:
(No one was allowed at ringside and no DQ's)
1. Giant Baba pinned The Terrible Turk to win the title.
(Turk had smashed Baba in the neck with a gold bar, then locked the Stranglehold, but Baba countered with a snap mare. Turk then locked a bearhug, but Baba smashed him in the face with a forearm club. Turk stumbled, and Baba followed with a Baba chop that caused Turk to bounce off the ropes and into a Neckbreaker Drop by Baba. Baba celebrated in the ring for a few minutes, then left to visit Rikidozan, who had been rushed to the hospital.)
