Preview for The Great American Bash
Sunday July 2 @ American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas
Main Event: War Games Match. Antonino Rocca, Frank Gotch, Dan Severn, and Giant Baba vs the Heenan Family: World Champion Nick Bockwinkel, Harley Race, King Kong Bundy, and Ox Baker. After suffering repeated ambushes by the Heenan Family, the team of Rocca, Gotch, Severn, and Baba have the opportunity to confront all of them inside the confines of two connected steel cages! Two weeks ago on MLW: Showtime, Harley Race defeated Frank Gotch to secure the Heenan Family the important strategic advantage of sending in the third, fifth, and seventh wrestlers into the War Games which means at times the Heenan Family will have an advantage of 2 on 1, 3 on 2, and 4 on 3 in this match. Will Rocca, Gotch, Severn, and Baba be able to overcome this disadvantage?
The Road Warriors and Splatter vs Killer Kowalski and the Gladiators in a six man steel cage elimination match.. Formerly members of Kowalski's Dungeon of Doom, the Road Warriors broke apart from Kowalski several weeks ago. In response, Kowalski temporarily hired the Gladiators (Brute and Massacre) from the Mid Atlantic Territory to join him in the steel cage against the Road Warriors who, last week on MLW: Showtime, shocked the wrestling world by naming Splatter as their mystery partner. Furthermore, Splatter vows to bring his club Arsenal with him inside the steel cage. Expect the blood to flow as Splatter swings Arsenal and as both sides undoubtedly try to smash each other into the sides of the steel cage.
Yukon Eric vs United States Champion Buddy Rogers (accompanied by Maxine Babe) for the United States Championship. Rogers has guaranteed victory over Yukon Eric to the extent that he is putting both the United States Championship and his valet Maxine Babe on the line in this match. Yukon Eric has proclaimed his attraction to Maxine Babe and Rogers has promised that Yukon Eric will get to go out with Maxine Babe for an entire night if he can somehow defeat "the Nature Boy."
Bobo Brazil and Mil Mascaras versus the World Tag Team Champions Midnight Express (managed by Jim Cornette) in a best 2 out of 3 falls match for the World tag Team Championship. Can Brazil and Mascaras, the team that won the Sammartino Invitational over Memorial Day weekend, defeat the now two time World Tag Team Champions the Midnight Express?
Killer Bees vs Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff (managed by Nikita Breznikov) in a flag match. Both the United States flag and the Soviet Union flag will be placed in opposite corners of the rings from the corners of the two tag teams. The first tag team to retrieve their own flag and return it to their corner will win the match. The winner's flag will then be raised to the rafters and the losing team will then be required to pledge allegiance to the flag of the victors!
United States Tag Team Champions the Regulators (Cowboy Bob Orton Jr. and Richard Hutton) vs the Valentines in a best 2 out of 3 falls match for the United States Tag Team Championship. Two weeks ago on MLW: All Stars, the Valentines injured Hutton's leg and challenged the Regulators to a match at the Great American Bash for the United States Tag Team Championship. Hutton is expected to be fully recovered by Sunday for this match. Can the Valentines, who lately have been seen flashing the same mysterious four fingered hand sign as United States Champion Buddy Rogers, capture the United States Tag Team Championship?
Jimmy Snuka vs Gorgeous George in a dog collar match. After losing what appeared to be a blow out steel cage match to his feud with Snuka at Backlash in May, George publicly stated his desire for one more shot at Snuka by savagely attacking him from behind with a steel chair on MLW: Showtime two weeks ago. Will George prevail this time in a dog collar match- a match George has stated he feels more comfortable competing in?
Danny Hodge vs the Sandman in a Singapore cane match. Hodge has achieved a recent string of success in MLW including a victory over the Sandman in just 4 moves two weeks ago on MLW: Showtime. In response to his embarrassing defeat, the Sandman brutally attacked Hodge from behind in the backstage area with his Singapore cane last week on Showtime and challenged him to a Singapore cane match at the Great American Bash. How will Hodge, an old school wrestler, perform in this hardcore match featuring the Sandman's favorite weapon?
The Hot Seat: MLW owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino has previously mentioned that the roster for Major League Wrestling (MLW) is going to expand greatly during the course of the summer and that the entire Major League Wrestling organization will be slightly modified as a result following the Great American Bash. The guest on the Hot Seat at the Great American Bash will be the first new wrestler whose official signing with Major League Wrestling will be publicly announced! The only clue Sammartino has revealed in his press release is that this wrestler is from his former Northeast Territory and he is looking to resume his former violent feud with a current wrestler in Major League Wrestling. Who will be the guest on the Hot Seat?
