In medias res means to begin in the middle of the action, that’s what I’m going to do with my new LOW Fed, Wrestling Preimer League. The first card will be the last card before Fright Fight, an annual Halloween themed event.
Here is the run down of what’s going on in the federation:
The top of the card is dominated by The Minnesota Reapers.
The Reapers are made up of World Champion Nick Bockwinkle, Rick Rude, and former world tag team champions The Hennings. Bockwinkle has held the title since New Year’s Eve and has defended the belt successfully against Dr. Death, Harley Race, Frank Gotch, and Giant Baba. He currently is engaged in a feud with Rikidozan, and the two will meet at Fright Fight for the title. The Hennings won the world tag team championship from The Road Warriors early this summer. In August, they defeated the Warriors again in a match with a “Loser Leaves Town” stipulation. The Warriors returned under masks as the Chicago Maulers. The night before the Maulers were scheduled to take on the Hennings for the titles, a car in the parking lot hit Mauler # 2, who turned out to be Hawk. While no one was apprehended in this vicious hit and run, suspicion rests on The Ax. The vile act backfired though, as the Fabulous Kangaroos took the Maulers place and won the tag titles from the Hennings. Ax is now feuding with Mauler # 1 (assumed to be Animal), while at the same time assisting Bockwinkle in his feud with Rikidozan. Curt Henning has begun teaming with Rude, and the duo are scheduled to take on the Armstrongs at Fright Fight.
By virtue of their feud with The Hennings, the Kangaroos have become de facto faces. This has strained their relationship with manager Wild Red Berry. The pair is currently defending the titles against the Vachons, and will meet for the gold at Fright Fight.
The reigning North American champion is Don Leo Jonathan. He’s been defending the title against the members of his former manager Bobby Heenan’s stable. Having already bested The Masked Superstar and Ray Stevens, Jonathan is now set to defend his title against former World Champion and Olympian The Iron Sheik.
Other notable story lines include:
Captain Lou Albano has declared his candidacy for President, leaving his Dream Team rudderless in their feud with the Killer Bees.
The Midnight Express (Eaton and Conrey) has been feuding with the Bolsheviks.
Dr. Death Steve Williams is scheduled to return from an injury at Fright Fight. He’s scheduled to face Chris Candido, an ally of the man responsible for that injury, Larry Zbysko.
DDP has been feuding with The Sheik. The matches have typically ended in a DQ, so they’ll face off at Fright Fight in a no DQ match.
Frank Gotch and Ted Dibiase have had a strong series of matches. They’ve both picked up a victory over the other and will have the rubber match at Fright Fight.
