Nikolai Volkoff w/Nikita Breznikov v. Bobo Brazil Huge reaction for Brazil as you would expect for one of the LWF’s most popular stars. Volkoff comes out strong with a hair pull takedown followed by a head butt and Russian Bear Hug. Brazil works over Volkoff with big hammer punches, dropkicks, Bobo body slams and head scissors. Brazil covers Volkoff for the pin following a big hammer punch but Breznikov distracts Brazil who gets angry and chases Breznikov out of the ring. Volkoff goes to the floor and things get out of hand. Volkoff wins the brawl with some assistance from his manager and tosses Brazil back into the ring. Volkoff takes the action back to the floor but Brazil grabs Volkoff and whips him shoulder first into the steel ring post. Brazil finishes the match with a COCO BUTT.

Bastien wears down DiBiase with a front headlock and neck crank before using a spinning neckbreaker to set up an ATOMIC DROP for a ½ count. DiBiase kicks out of a second ATOMIC DROP and then rebounds off the ropes with an incredible flying cross body press and cover for a ½ count. DiBiase follows up with a deathjump cross body block and covers Bastien for a ½ count. Bastien catches DiBiase on the top turnbuckle and tosses him to the mat and moments later crushes DiBiase & Virgil at ringside with a falling cross-body from the top of the turnbuckles (LWF! LWF!). DiBiase is stunned and counted out of the ring!

Greg quickly applies a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK on Johnny Valiant for the win while Johnny Valentine prevents Jimmy Valiant from saving his brother.
LWF World Title Tournament – Quarter Finals
Sandman v. Buddy Rogers The fans hate Rogers and cheer as Sandman cracks a beer at ringside. Rogers reverses Sandman’s whip to the buckles but Sandman avoids Rogers’ charge to the buckles and the Nature Boy hit the corner hard allowing Sandman to roll him up for a 1 ½ count. Sandman tosses Rogers to the floor and comes off the top of the buckle with a falling cross body onto Rogers outside the ring (LWF! LWF!). Rogers blocks a eye gouge on ropes with a hip toss and then plants Sandman with a pair of piledrivers for a 2 ½ count. The fans boo Rogers’ every move. A FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE ends the match.
Giant Baba v. Nick Bockwinkel Japanese media covers the action from ringside. Both men receive a mixed reaction when they are introduced but the fans show their appreciation when Baba and Bockwinkel shake hands at the bell. Bockwinkel tries to end things early with a Boston Crab. Bockwinkel dominates the action with his skill and agility including an impressive back body drop. Bockwinkel rams Baba’s head into the steel rails by the fans busting the Japanese Champion open. Baba escapes a BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER by grabbing the ropes and then kicks out a pin attempts after a deathjump cross body block and a piledriver. Baba again retreats to the ropes to break a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Bockwinkel keeps coming and uses a second FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK to almost win. Iron Sheik addresses the crowd running down America and the fans (Huge Heat!)
Iron Sheik w/ Nikita Breznikov v. Frank Gotch It is all Sheik from the bell with suplexes, kicks, chokes and a bear hug. Sheik scores a ½ count following a vertical suplex. Sheik attacks Gotch’s back with loaded boot kicks and scores a 1 ½ count with a sidewinder suplex. Gotch can get nothing going but suddenly blocks Sheik’s backdrop with a piledriver and quickly applies the GOTCH TOE HOLD. Breznikov is able to distract Gotch. Sheik escapes a rolling kneebar and Gotch applies a second GOTCH TOE HOLD but Breznikov jumps into the ring and distracts Gotch allowing Sheik to attack Gotch from behind. Gotch trips up Sheik from the floor and rams Sheik’s leg off the steel ringpost and attacks Sheik with a rolling kneebar which Sheik is able to escape. Another rolling kneebar forces Sheik to the floor and Gotch follows him out starting a wild brawl. Breznikov joins the battle and the referee disqualified Sheik. It is a two on one beat down but Bobo Brazil comes out with a steel chair sending Sheik and Breznikov retreating to the back.
Harley Race v. The Destroyer Both men counter brilliantly in the opening minutes of the match. Destroyer uses a figure four leglock (ch) to force Race to the floor. Destroyer follows Race outside the ring and rams Race’s face into the steel rails by the fans busting Race open. The referee disqualifies Destroyer.
Some great action on this card.
It appears that Bobo Brazil is ready to stand up for American against Breznikov's Army. Will Frank Gotch join him?
Ted DiBiase was furious following his loss tonight and is demanding a rematch with Red Bastien.
Something tells me we have not seen the last Road Warriors - King Kong Bundy/Ox Baker post match brawl.
The Valiants and Valentines provided a tag team classic.

Card #2 - LWF @ West Orange, NJ – South Mountain Arena
Ted DiBiase and Virgil are in the ring and DiBiase pays a fan to polish his boots (great heat!).
Ted DiBiase & Virgil v. Johnny & Jimmy Valiant The fans hate DiBiase so much they cheer the Valiant brothers. It is Virgil who gets things going for his team catching Johnny Valiant in the corner with a running slingshot followed by a piledriver. DiBiase enters the match and works over Johnny Valiant with a pair of backward elbows off ropes and three vertical suplexes. Johnny Valiant kicks out at 2. DiBiase with a swinging neckbreaker at ringside but Johnny grabs the ropes moments later to escape the MILLION DOLLAR SLEEPER. Johnny rebounds off the ropes and catches Virgil with a flying shoulder ram allowing Jimmy Valiant to tag into the match (solid pop!). Jimmy works over Virgil with a thumb to the eye and a foreign object blast before using a fist drop to set up a SUPER ELBOW for a ½ count. Jimmy Valiant’s running knee lift sends Virgil into his own corner and DiBiase is back in the match working over Valiant with a knee to the gut, vertical suplex and backward elbow off ropes for a 1 ½ count. DiBiase chokes Valiant on the steel rails by the fans and then tries to end the match with a MILLION DOLLAR SLEEPER but Valiant escapes. Valiant blocks DiBiase falling double hammer at ringside with a punch to the stomach and nails DiBiase with a deathjump smash and deathjump clothesline before using an atomic drop for a ½ count. The Valiant Brothers crush DiBiase with a TOP ROPE ELBOW for a 2 count. DiBiase is s bloody mess after Jimmy uses a foreign object and a head slam into post (Fans turn on Valiant). DiBiase avoids a double hammer at ringside and Jimmy Valiant crashes into the steel rails at ringside (great bump). The match goes back and forth for several minutes before Johnny Valiant catches DiBiase with an elbow to the face in the corner and tosses the Million Dollar Man to the floor. DiBiase drags Johnny to the floor and rams his head into the steel ring post busting Valiant open. Johnny breaks free of the MILLON DOLLAR SLEEPER by grabbing the ropes. Jimmy Valiant quickly traps DiBiase in a figure four leglock but Virgil comes into the ring followed by Johnny Valiant resulting in a wild brawl. The Valiants clear the ring and Jimmy finishes off DiBiase with a SUPER ELBOW.
King Kong Bundy & Ox Baker v. Giant Baba & The Destroyer Japanese media are at ringside for this one. Destroyer dominates King Kong Bundy including a running slingshot in the corner but Baker turns the match around when he tags into the match. Destroyer blocks Baker’s headlock takeover and Baba tags in catching Baker with a Baba Chop for a 1 ½ count. Baba manhandles both Bundy and Baker for several minutes until Bundy blocks a back drop with a kick to Baba’s head. Bundy hits a pair of elbow drops off ropes but Baba does not stay down for long catching Bundy with a tackle against the turnbuckles. The match goes back and forth for several minutes with Baba being the dominate force. Baba avoids Bundy’s short clothesline and downs Bundy with a Russian legsweep for the pin while Destroyer blocks Baker.
LWF United States Title Tournament – Semi-Finals
Red Bastien v. Killer Kowalski Bastien is out to a solid pop from the fans. The match starts with a hot exchange. Kowalski hammers Bastien with turnbuckle punches and then goes up to the top of the turnbuckles but Bastien catches him on top and tosses him to the mat. Kowalski regains his feet and Bastien connects with a pair of flying dropkicks that flip Kowalski over the ropes onto the floor. Outside, Kowalski grabs Bastien and drags him to the floor whipping him into the steel ring post. Bastien, already a bloody mess, suffers more punishment when Kowalski rams Bastien’s face into the steel rails by the fans. The crowd is demanding the match be stopped and Kowalski be thrown out of the arena. A bombs away knee drop gives Kowalski a ½ count and the Killer takes the action to the floor again this time using a steel chair on Bastien! It is all Kowalski including a giant swing that forces Bastien to the floor. Any offence Bastien gets in lasts only one move. Bastien escapes a stomach claw and kicks out after an overhead body slam. Another giant swing nearly ends the match. Both men exchange whips into the turnbuckle and the crowd roars as Bastien is making his comeback but Kowalski catches Bastien with a knee to the chest in the corner and immediately follows with a shoulder breaker for the three count.
Jimmy Snuka v. Bobo Brazil Huge ovation for both men. A handshake starts the action. Snuka avoids the lock up with a kick to the stomach and rocks Brazil with a pair of piledrivers for a 1 ½ count after only three moves. Brazil kicks out of a SUPERFLY LEAP (1). Brazil catches Snuka on the top buckle and tosses him to the mat before hitting a deathjump smash and COCO BUTT for a ½ count. Brazil takes the action to the floor and ducks Snuka’s clothesline and Snuka strikes the referee causing his disqualification. The fans crap on the decision and fill the ring with trash. Brazil gets on the mic and tells Snuka the referee’s decision is the referee’s decision and they cannot change it. But Brazil is not happy with it. Brazil tells Snuka that when he beats Killer Kowalski in St. Louis next card, he will give Snuka the first shot at the title. Snuka shakes on the deal.
LWF World Title Tournament – Semi-Finals
Frank Gotch v. Harley Race Both men are all business when they come to the ring. This one should be intense. It is all Race from the bell with headlocks, diving headbutts and a vertical suplex for a ½ count. Race with a swinging neckbreaker that sets up a PILEDRIVER for a ½ count. A 2nd PILEDRIVER results in another ½ count. Race becomes frustrated and Gotch gets some offence in. Race forces Gotch to the floor with a vertical suplex and smashes Gotch across the back with a chair shot. Race works over Gotch with swinging neckbreakers, diving head butts and vertical suplexes setting up a deathjump cross body block for a 2 count. Gotch catches Race from the floor and rams Race’s knee off the steel ringpost and follows up with a rolling kneebar. Race battles back and hits a diving head butt for a 2 ¾ count. Gotch reverses a press slam into a headlock takeover and works over Race setting up a crossface and arm bar. Race escapes but Gotch keeps his attack coming. Race manages to force Gotch to the floor with a swinging neckbreaker but Gotch again trips up Race from the floor and rams Race’s leg into the steel post earning a stern warning from the referee. A GOTCH TOE HOLD follows and Race submits. The crowd gives Gotch a mixed reaction, obviously not impressed with his tactics.
Buddy Rogers v. Nick Bockwinkel Rogers draws great heat. Both men go move for move until an abdominal stretch sends Rogers to the floor. Rogers returns and Bockwinkel applies a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK which Rogers escapes. Rogers escapes a 2nd FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK and Bockwinkel sends Rogers to the floor and comes off the top of the buckles with a falling body block to the arena floor. Rogers recovers at the 9 ½ count and rolls back into the ring. Bockwinkel follows with a pair of deathjump smashes and the actions goes outside again. Bockwinkel wins the brawl on the floor and tries to end the match with a BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER but Rogers escapes. Rogers trips up Bockwinkel from the floor and rams Bockwinkel’s leg off the steel ring post (huge heat!). A FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE ends the match in the next move. It is Rogers’ only level 3 offensive move of the match!
LWF World Tag Team Title Tournament – Finals
Road Warriors v. Greg & Johnny Valentine Animal and Johnny trades moves and then both men tag out. Greg and Hawk each try a clothesline and collide in the ring. Valentine recovers first and hits a neckbreaker for a 2 ¾ count. The Valentines control the action including a double team flurry of punches and elbows on Animal. Johnny with a deathjump smash and forearm hammer on Animal for a ½ count. Johnny takes Animal to the floor and Animal nails Johnny in the head with the tag team title belt and the Road Warriors are disqualified.
The Road Warriors are not impressed with the decision of the referee tonight and have demanded an immediate rematch with the Valentines for the Tag Team Titles. That will take place on the next card.
Nick Bockwinkel was very disappointed with himself after letting his match with Buddy Rogers slip away. Rogers must know he was a beaten man tonight that should be win the title, Bockwinkel will be one of the first men to chase him for the gold.
Giant Baba seems to have recovered from his one sided loss against Nick Bockwinkel and looked impressive in his tag team match with partner The Destroyer. The Destroyer and Baba have a long history together both teaming and feuding. They have appeared to put their past differences aside and may be considered for a significant push in the tag team division over the next few cards.
Up next we head to St. Louis where the LWF will stage a rare card outside the East Coast. Word has it that Buddy Rogers used his influence with local promoters to allow the card to take place. Matches already signed include….

The referee disqualifies the Warriors as Animal beats down Johnny at ringside and Greg trades blows with Hawk. The Warriors grab the titles and hold them up drawing huge heat before throwing down the belts and walking away.

Both men go move for move but Rogers plants Gotch with a piledriver and follows with a jumping knee smash sending Gotch to the floor. Rogers comes off the top of the turnbuckles with a deathjump cross body block for a ½ count. Rogers traps Gotch in a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE to win the title.
Some wild action tonight.
Say what you want about the Nature Boy, but Buddy Rogers looked impressive in his victory over Frank Gotch to become the 1st LWF champion. Backstage, Rogers was rubbing his victory in the face of anyone around including some of the local promoters. Rogers is quickly becoming the most hated man in the LWF in and out of the ring.

Volkoff takes the action to the floor ramming Destroyer’s back into the steel ring post (nice bump) and then comes off the top of the turnbuckles with a falling cross body onto Destroyer at ringside (LWF! Thanks Tman
I have tried various ways of reporting but I always get the most out of it when I write it up this way. I used to make point form in a book but I have gone paperless and set up shop in front of the home computer.
The pace moves slower but I am particularly enjoying my restart this time. Baba's heel turn stands out in particular because it was something that I just made on the fly when the match ended in doubles. It is great when the dice dictate what is going to happen next because you never know yourself until you roll.

Perhaps the greatest card in the history of my fed so far…
Card #9 – LWF @ Philadelphia, PA – Spectrum Injuries: Johnny Valentine 2 cards; King Kong Bundy 4 cards; Jimmy Snuka 3 cards;

Hutton dominates the action and Bundy rolls to the floor after every move selling his injured neck and drawing huge heat from the fans who want action. Hutton tries a double hammer off the buckles to the outside but Bundy catches him and rams Hutton back first into the ring apron. Bundy then uses a big bear hug to end the match in the very next move.
Jimmy & Johnny Valiant v. Nick Bockwinkel & Harley Race After feuding for several cards, Race and Bockwinkel decide to team up. Race catches Jimmy Valiant rebounding off the ropes with a high knee smash and then traps Valiant in an Indian Deathlock and follows with a swinging neckbreaker for a ½ count. Bockwinkel tags in and punishes Jimmy with a deathjump smash and choke on the ropes before using an abdominal stretch to end the match while Race takes out Johnny Valiant. Total squash!
Cherie Dupré leads Gorgeous George and Playboy Buddy Rose. George tosses out pins to the fans while Rose gets on the mic and demands to be announced at 217 pounds drawing great heat. Dupré disinfects the ring.
Jimmy Snuka (3) & The Sandman v. Playboy Buddy Rose & Gorgeous George w/Cherie Dupré The reaction for hometown competitor Sandman is off the charts. Snuka’s ribs are taped up. Superfly tags in with a deathjump cross-body block for a ½ count. It is all Snuka but Rose catches the Superfly going up to the top of the turnbuckle and tosses Snuka to the mat. Snuka and George brawl on the floor with Snuka coming out on top but George blocks Snuka’s deathjump with a boot to the face and than traps Snuka in a SPINNING TOE HOLD for the win. The action continues after the bell with Rose taking out Sandman with a chairshot. Rose and Sandman double team Snuka with stomps and then George holds Snuka’s legs allowing Rose to hit a BOMBS AWAY on Snuka. Sandman recovers and clears the ring with his Singapore Cane. Snuka is removed on a stretcher (3 card injury).
Texas Death Match – Road Warrior Animal v. Killer Kowalski The match starts off with both men exchanging actual wrestling holds in a match where the rule book is thrown out the window. The crowd is anxiously waiting for something to happen. Animal avoids Kowalski’s charge to the corner and Kowalski runs headfirst into the turnbuckles setting up a 2 ¾ count by Animal. Animal grabs a steel chair from ringside and cracks Kowalski with it. A bloody Kowalski manages to reverse a whip into the steel rails moments later and takes the match back to the ring. It is obvious Rogers meant to finish Gotch off with the chair.

Sorry Mr. Vegas, 2 for 8. The number of upsets was surprising but only made the card that much more exciting.

After 10 cards I thought I would list my top ten power list...
1. Bobo Brazil: The LWF’s only undefeated wrestler (7 -0) and current reigning United States Champion. Faces all comers, face or heel.
2. Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff: The LWF’s only undefeated tag team (6-0) and current World Tag Team Champions. Seemingly unstoppable after destroying the Valentines to capture the gold. Have yet to face the Road Warriors.
3. Giant Baba: Recent heel turn has changed the gentle giant into a raging monster. Is poised to challenge for one of LWF’s singles straps.
4. Harley Race: Failed to unseat Bobo Brazil as United States Champion. Now seems focused on tag team action with partner Nick Bockwinkel
5. Frank Gotch: The current World Champion after defeating Buddy Rogers and looks impressive in title defenses.
6. Gorgeous George: Has gotten the best of The Sandman despite his valet having to endure several beer showers. Played a key roll in taking out Jimmy Snuka
7. Road Warriors: The most powerful team in the LWF continue to have their hands full with the trio of Killer Kowalski, King Kong Bundy & Ox Baker. Seem to have fallen off the championship trail.
8. Buddy Rogers: The first LWF World Champion will need to fight his way back into contention.
9. Playboy Buddy Rose: Success against Jimmy Snuka lands Rose in the top ten. Assisted in putting the Superfly on the shelf
10. Greg Valentine: Former co-holder of the World Tag Team Championship with his father. Will now face his father in a singles feud.
