LWA and PPW combination card = PowerSLAM television special. Hartford, CTThe LWA and PPW announce that in competition for your entertainment dollar, the two promotions will be joining forces to produce PowerSLAM TV. This special will be a weekly television program on cable TV airing live from different cities in the World. The two promotions will now be known as SLAM: Superstar Legends Association & Major League. The first recognized champion will be determined by a round-robin tournament between LWA Champion Nick Bockwinkel, PPW Champion Rick Rude and a 3rd seed drawn from the rosters of both LWA and PPW. The third seed will be determined tonight and will advance to the Round-Robin Tournament in Baltimore, Maryland as part of the September SLAM Supercard. A 30-man battle royal featuring these stars will be held as our first match on PowerSLAM with the last two survivors meeting later in the evening to determine the #3 seed. SLAM officials will also name other featured events for September SLAM tonight during the broadcast...Stay tuned. Here is a link to the two feds merged into slam: LWA: cotg.proboards12.com/index.cgi?board=lowcards&action=display&thread=1136250410&page=1PPW: cotg.proboards12.com/index.cgi?board=lowcards&action=display&thread=1121543611&page=1 30-Man Battle Royal order of elimination: Larry Zbyszko (Axe Hennig) Jimmy Valiant (Bundy) SuperStar Destroyer 1 (Yukon Eric) Yukon Eric (Superstar Destroyer 1) Harley Race (Crusher) Bruiser Brody (Ox Baker) Bullet Bob (Mad Dog Vachon) Konnan (Sheik) Luke (Harker Dirge) Harker Dirge (Luke) Jim Duggan (Larry Sharpe) Dan Severn (Curt Hennig) Dr. Death, Sandman, George South and Ted Dibiase all tossed by Justin Credible (with some assistance from partner Steve Corino) Ilio Dipaulo (Corino) Dennis Condrey, King Kong Bundy, Larry Sharpe, Killer Kowalski and Ivan Koloff (Superstar Destroyer 1) Mad Dog Vachon (Crusher) Crusher (Sheik) Sheik (Ox Baker) Buff Bagwell and Ox Baker (Axe Hennig) Curt Hennig and Superstar Destroyer 1 (Credible) Axe Hennig (Corino) The final two survivors (largely due to their teamwork during the match) were Justin Credible and Steve Corino. These PPW Championship Tag-team partners are forced to wrestle or the 3rd seed of the Round-Robin would be surrendered to the last man eliminated - Larry Hennig! This made them extremely irate, but both agreed to give their all during the match. Highlights from the battle royal: The match saw many streaks as once certain wrestlers got on a roll (especially Justin Credible) they stood hot. Not coincidently the four hottest wrestlers Axe Hennig, Superstar Destroyer 1 along with Credible and Corino were the last four in the ring. Corino and Credible's teamwork prevailed as they double-teamed the remaining entrants to earn the win. During the battle royal, Curt Hennig and Dan Severn fought each other early and continued their classic ringwork against each other, while Ox Baker blindsided Bruiser Brody to continue their feud from PPW. These matchups may be good candidates for rematches in SLAM. Crusher was thrown out after getting burned by a Sheik FIREBALL. Luckily, he was not seriously injured but the “Man Who Made Milwaukee Famous” was not too thrilled with the burns on his chest and shoulder. The Most surprising elimination: Cousin Luke eliminated Harker Dirge and himself after Dirge attacked Luke while he was ready to toss the Sheik out! The battle royal provided great action in the first match sanctioned by SLAM. SLAM officials setup a conference table in the ring and announced the creation of the SLAM Intercontinental-Television Title. This title will be the secondary title in SLAM, but will be the centerpiece of the PowerSLAM TV program and be defended frequently there. This first champion will be determined in a unification match in September SLAM between LWA Intercontinental Champion, Don Muraco and PPW Television Champion, Diamond Dallas Page. Both champions entered the ring and the situation got heated in a hurry as both men claimed supremacy. The segment ended abruptly with Muraco slamming Page's neck with a chair and then the IC title belt. Muraco was screaming asking DDP if he wants the belt now as officials broke up the melee. Update on Page's condition later in the evening. SLAM Announcers Joey Styles and Bill Watts then released another match for September SLAM: The long-awaited Last Man Standing Match between Buddy Rose and Chris Candido. This feud began in the LWA, but will be settled in SLAM as they have signed a contract that will see the loser-leave-SLAM. Obviously, the new company is not big enough for both of them. Rose will be coming off a suspension for injuring Candido dropping the IC title to him in a Steel Cage Match. Reports on Candido is that he is 100% recovered from the broken arm sustained in this attack and has trained himself into prime condition for the finale to their feud. Preview of the September SLAM Card: Round-Robin Tournament between Bockwinkel, Rude and the winner of the Corino-Credible match. The Loser-Leaves-SLAM match between Rose and Candido along with the IC-TV Title Unification. An update on the tag-team title situation for September SLAM will be forthcoming, but a best-of-three falls match is tentatively scheduled between LWA Champs Flying Redheads face the PPW Champions and Battle-Royal finalists Justin Credible and Steve Corino! However, both champions must face challenges from their top contenders in the coming weeks as the LWA titles will be on the line in 2 weeks with a winner of a special LWA team-only tournament next week on PowerSLAM to receive the title shot. The PPW Champions will put their belts on the line next week after a special tag-team turmoil match tonight. The contestants of this event will be former champions Steve Williams and Ted Dibiase, Dark Menaces' SuperStar Destroyers, Jim Cornette's Midnight Express, Sabu & The Sheik, Wolf & Harker Dirge and The Sandman with a mystery partner! Stay tuned for this awesome event tonight! PowerSLAM returned from a commercial with the announcement of the fourth and final recognized title in SLAM: The Light-Heavyweight Championship. The title will provide lighter wrestlers with an opportunity to be world champions in this special weight class. The first match of this tournament is next with Iron Mike Dibiase squaring off against Koko Ware. Light-Heavyweight Tournament Match One: Mike Dibiase b. Koko Ware, TOP ROPE KNEE DROP Dibiase made short work of Ware and became the first wrestler to advance in the tournament. The entire field will be announced on next week's edition of PowerSLAM. #3 Seed Match, Battle Royal Final: Justin Credible b. Steve Corino, THAT'S INCREDIBLE. PPW Championship Tag-team partners were forced to wrestle or the 3rd seed is relinquished to the last man eliminated - Larry Hennig! This made the team irate, but both agreed to give their all. Credible outlasted Corino for the win and secures the coveted 3rd seed in the round-robin. Credible is PPW's only Triple Crown winner and is the most decorated wrestler in that company's history. Update on Diamond Dallas Page's condition. Page will miss only 2 cards due to Muraco's assault, but his pride is more damaged from the sneak attack during the contract signing. Page should be 100% for their title unification at September SLAM. Tag-Team Turmoil Challenge for PPW Title Shot: Steve Williams and Ted Dibiase b. SuperStar Destroyers (with Dark Menace), Williams used the OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE on SD #2 Steve Williams and Ted Dibiase b. Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton (with Jim Cornette), Dibiase used a LOADED GLOVE to pin Condrey. Sabu & Sheik b. Williams and Dibiase, COR. Sheik attacked Dibiase at ringside after Sabu threw him out of the ring. Sabu & Sheik b. Sandman and mystery partner Bruiser Brody!!! Sheik used the FIREBALL to pin Sandman. Brody tried to get his hands on his former PPW championship tag-team partner Sabu, but this match was out of control from the beginning. Sabu & Sheik (with Farouk) DDQ Wolf and Harker Dirge (with Collector). Wild finish to the tag-team turmoil challenge. Next week both Abdullah Farouk's team of Sabu & Sheik and The Collector's team of Wolf & Dirge will be part of a PPW Championship no-holds barred match in a 3-way dance! If Corino and Credible retain the belts in this match then the tag-team unification will be held at another date after September SLAM. September SLAM lineup: SLAM World Title Round-Robin: LWA Champion Nick Bockwinkel (w/ Bobby Heenan) vs. PPW Champion Rick Rude (w/ Dark Menace) vs. PPW Tag-Champion Justin Credible (w/Sherri) Loser-Leaves-SLAM Last Man Standing: Buddy Rose (w/ Sherri) vs. Chris Candido (w/Tammy) IC-Television Unification: IC Champion, Don Muraco vs. TV Champion, Diamond Dallas Page Light-Heavyweight Tournament Match: competitors TBA SLAM World Tag-Team Title, best-of-three falls: LWA Champions Flying Redheads vs. PPW Champions Justin Credible and Steve Corino. If Corino and Credible are still champions after next week's title match then the match will be postponed to a future edition of PowerSLAM. SLAM Officials have arranged two special stand-by matches in case of this substitution. Next week in Syracuse, NY: The "LWA-only" tag-team tournament, the PPW Titles are up for grabs in a no-holds barred triangle match and a Falls Count Anywhere Match between Bullet Bob and Buff Bagwell as their LWA feud spills over into SLAM territory. Thanks for joining us and see you next week!

SLAM 003
PowerSLAM! TV at Buffalo, NY
Tonight’s edition of PowerSLAM features Match #2 of the Light-Heavyweight Tournament, a First Blood Match between Ox Baker and Bruiser Brody, and two special tag-team matches: LWA Tag-Champions Flying Redheads defend against #1 Contenders Dock Hutton and Mike Dibiase. The second big tag event features PPW vs. LWA as PPW Champion Rick Rude and TV Champion Dallas Page face LWA Champion Nick Bockwinkel and Intercontinental Champion Don Muraco. Finally, Bill Apter of the Wrestling News interviews #3 seed of the SLAM World Title Round-Robin Justin Credible as he will face LWA Champion Nick Bockwinkel and PPW Champion Rick Rude at September SLAM in Baltimore. Plus other surprises, here we go…
Cousin Luke b. Harker Dirge (with The Collector), DQ. Dirge slammed Luke with a chair after the action got heated outside the ring.
Bullet Bob Armstrong b. Mad Dog Vachon (with Lou Albano), DQ. Match stopped due to Vachon repeatedly biting the Bullet.
Light-Heavyweight Tournament Match #2: Danny Hodge b. Danny Doring, Hodge used an Oklahoma side roll to advance in the tournament.
Crusher b. PPW Tag-Champion The Sheik (with Abdullah Farouk), power forearms. Old school brawl as Crusher challenges Sheik and Sabu to a title match next week on PowerSLAM. Crusher clues in the crowd about his choice of partner “The mystery man likes beer as much as he does”!
First Blood Match: Ox Baker b. Bruiser Brody. Brody looked like he drew first blood on Ox in this close match, but a foreign object in his tights helped Ox make a quick recovery. The referee was knocked around a bit in this encounter. These two giants may need a special referee to settle things once and for all.
LWA Tag-Champions Red Bastien and Red Lyons b. Dock Hutton and Mike Dibiase, DQ. Hutton had Lyons in a submission hold but held on too long after a rope break. The match between these two teams got really heated and a rematch before September SLAM was signed for a future episode before PowerSLAM went off the air.
Dan The Beast Severn (with Larry Sharpe) b. Jim Duggan. The Beast made surprisingly short work of Duggan with the WAKIGATAME. Severn is on a roll under the tutelage of Mr. Sharpe.
Wrestling News Hot Seat Interview with Bill Apter and guest Justin Credible. Highlights of Credible’s Battle Royal win that secured his seeding in the SLAM Championship Round-Robin. Credible had some help from tag-team partner Steve Corino to eliminate Larry Hennig and Credible publicly thanked Old School even though they had to wrestle a match. At this moment, the Hennigs walked to ringside and challenged them to tag-team match to “see what these two wimps can do with the sides even”. A huge skirmish occurred as security and SLAM officials separated both teams. The announcers mentioned SLAM officials will sanction a match between the two teams next week as there is not enough TV time to include the match this week.
PPW vs. LWA Challenge: LWA Champion Nick Bockwinkel and IC Champion Don Muraco b. PPW Champion Rick Rude and PPW TV Champ Diamond Dallas Page. Muraco and Bockwinkel worked well together and Rude never tagged in the match! So much for PPW pride, as Muraco tried furthering the damage on Page’s injured shoulder, but a HAWAIIAN HAMMER felled DDP as Bockwinkel suggested to Muraco to pin him to gain a psychological edge for Muraco’s unification match versus DDP.
Bockwinkel looks ready for the round-robin as he was sharp against Page and is tough to beat. Nick is probably the most decorated (if not the greatest) wrestler in LWA history. He has held the LWA Title a record 5 times and has the first and 5th longest reigns in history (length = # of title defenses). He and Harley Race also hold the longest reign in LWA Tag-Title division. Next week a special segment will review the greatest champions in LWA history along with special accomplishments such as the Triple Crown (World, Tag and IC). Another segment will feature the same review in PPW’s short history. Keep in mind Justin Credible is the only Triple Crown winner in PPW History (World, Tag and TV).
Next week, the Light-Heavyweight Tournament continues as Red Bastien faces George South. The Hennigs challenge Justin Credible and Steve Corino, Harker Dirge has a rematch with Cousin Luke and PPW Tag-Champions Sabu and The Sheik face The Crusher and his mystery partner (bring the beer). PPW TV Champion DDP has a singles match as he prepares for his September SLAM Unification Match with IC Champion Don Muraco. Page claims he will be 100% for their Baltimore match. Bill Apter of the Wrestling News will interview the streaking Dan Severn and his manager Larry Sharpe on the HotSeat.

SLAM 004
PowerSLAM! TV at Rochester, MN
Tonight the Light-Heavyweight Tournament continues as Red Bastien faces George South.
Bill Apter of the Wrestling News will interview the streaking Dan Severn (with his manager Larry Sharpe) on the HotSeat. Don Muraco will also be in action against SD Jones and Harley Race faces Larry Zbyzsko. Plus an anthology of the greatest LWA and PPW Champions will be shown.
Light-Heavyweight Title Tournament Match #3: Red Bastien b. George South, ATOMIC DROP. LWA Tag-Champion is vying for his second title and took the first step with a victory over South.
Cousin Luke b. Harker Dirge, HILLBILLY DROP. An upset of sorts as Dirge brawled outside the ring again with Luke, but the Hillbilly body-slammed Dirge on the floor and tossed him back in the ring! The weakened Dirge fell easy prey to Luke’s finisher. Fun match.
PPW Tag-Titles: Sabu and The Sheik (with Abdullah Farouk) b. The Crusher and The Sandman! “The Beer Brothers” brawled wildly as Crusher faced his rival The Sheik and Sandman lined up frequently with Sabu. Brawl ended with Sabu turning the tables on Sandman outside the ring which led to the ARABIAN FACEBUSTER for the win. Wild brawl as Sabu and Sheik will go to Baltimore for their best-of-three falls unification against what ever team holds the LWA Tag-Titles.
LWA Title Anthology is played on the big screen as some highlights are shown of some of the greatest champions in LWA History. Nick Bockwinkel was one of the featured wrestlers as he holds the longest LWA Title Reign in both the Heavyweight and Tag-Team Divisions (with Harley Race). Bockwinkel held the LWA Title a record FIVE Times and the Tag-Belts twice. Bockwinkel’s matches and rivalry with Curt Hennig was the spotlighted before turning over to other highlights.
The other highlights were of Triple Crown (Heavyweight, IC and Tag-Team) winners, Superfly Snuka, Iron Sheik and Killer Kowalski. Iron Sheik’s matches against Ted Dibiase were shown as were Snuka’s matches against Destroyer and Bob Orton, Jr. in his IC Title Reign. Snuka’s LWA Title Reign highlights included matches against Bruiser Brody, Buddy Rogers and Nick Bockwinkel. Killer Kowalski’s tag-title win (with Ox Baker) against The Road Warriors in the first year of the LWA was shown and clips of one of the longest feuds on LWA history: Buddy Rogers versus Johnny Valentine culminating in a Brass Knuckles Match in Spring Showdown from Toronto a few years back concluded the highlights. Montage of PPW Title Highlights will be show later in the evening.
Longest LWA Title Reigns: 1. Nick Bockwinkel (holds record for FIVE title reigns too!) 2. Harley Race 3. Superfly Snuka 4. Nick Bockwinkel 5. Buddy Rogers
Triple Crown Winners 1. Superfly Snuka 2. Iron Sheik 3. Killer Kowalski
Two Longest IC Title Reigns: Superfly Snuka and The Destroyer
Longest Tag-Title Reign: Harley Race and Nick Bockwinkel
Most Tag-Title Reigns: Road Warriors (5)
No wrestler ever regained the IC title!
PPW TV Champion Dallas Page b. Vanity, DIAMOND CUTTER. Page exclaimed he is 100% for his match against Don Muraco and he looked it as DDP reversed a Turnbuckle whip and hit the CUTTER for the easy win!
IC Champion Don Muraco b. SD Jones (with DDP as an ally), HAWAIIAN HAMMER. DDP accompanied Jones to ringside to ensure Muraco does not injury anyone else. DDP’s support and advice kept Jones in the match (and got into Muraco’s mind), but Muraco was ultimately too much for SD.
PPW Title Anthology was the next segment as Justin Credible was featured being both the longest reigning PPW and TV Champion and the company’s sole Triple Crown winner. Credible had exciting wins over The Sheik, Bobo Brazil and Sandman as he was a PPW mainstay. The feud between the Midnight Express (Lane and Eaton) versus Dan Severn and Chris Candido for the tag-titles also was highlighted as was Ox Baker’s lengthy PPW Title Reign (Baker was also the first PPW Champion).
The Sheik then had a segment showing some of his greatest and wildest matches: Falls Count Anywhere with Bobo Brazil, Three Stages of Fear against Ox Baker and XXX. His current championship team with Sabu and Sabu’s team with Bruiser Brody and their record length title reign as champions. Sabu’s and Sheik’s rivalry with The Sandman was also featured as much blood has been spilled over the years between them.
Wrestling News HotSeat! Interview with Bill Apter featuring Dan Severn (with Larry Sharpe).Apter addressed Dan Severn’s winning streak and just as The Beast started to speak, out came Ivan Koloff and Lou Albano to challenge Severn. Severn agreed to an impromptu match as both men battled valiantly to gain the advantage. Koloff used two top rope kneedrops to weaken Severn and clinched the match with the RUSSIAN BEARHUG. Interference from the Mad Dog Vachon and Lou Albano assisted in ending Severn’s win streak, but LWA Commissioner is scrambling to setup a special match between Sharpe’s stable and Albano’s. Stay tuned for more details.
Harley Race b. Larry Zbyszko, DQ. Larry removed the turnbuckle and placed a metal object in the corner. The referee did not like this action and ended the match.
Steve Corino and Justin Credible b. The Hennigs, DQ. Larry used Credible’s cane on Corino forcing the DQ. The Axe asked for singles match against Corino next week on PowerSLAM!
Next week on PowerSLAM! Light Heavyweight Tournament continues with Match #4 between PPW Tag-Champion Sabu and Brad Armstrong. Both Buddy Rose and Chris Candido will be in singles competition to prepare for their Loser-Leaves-SLAM Last Man Standing Match at September SLAM. This could be the first and last time either Rose or Candido wrestle on PowerSLAM TV.
LWA Tag-Titles are on the line for the last time between champions the Flying Redheads versus Mike Dibiase and Dock Hutton with a special referee: the manager of their September SLAM Tag-Title Unification Match opponents (PPW Tag-Champs Sabu and Sheik) Abdullah Farouk! Who will Farouk favor in this one as the PPW-LWA showdown nears for September SLAM?
A Six-Man Survival Tag-Team Match between Albano’s Alliance of Ivan Koloff, Mad Dog Vachon, Ivan Koloff and the masked Russian Front versus Larry Sharpe’s Monster Factory of Dan Severn, King Kong Bundy and Virgil.
An Ally Match between Larry Hennig and Steve Corino (Larry’s son Curt and Justin Credible will be the seconds for this match) and a Toughman Triangle, No-DQ Tag-Match between three teams of tough hombres: former PPW Tag-Champions Steve Williams and Ted Dibiase versus the teams of Bruiser Brody and Jim Duggan and Beer Brothers: Crusher and Sandman! Should be a great week of action, plus the final lineup for September SLAM is announced. Have a great week!

SLAM 005
PowerSLAM! TV at Norfolk, VA
Two Non-Televised Matches: Island Tribe (Samu and Alofa) b. Bad Storm (Black Bart and Mr. Astro) in a best-of-three falls match. • Alofa b. Bart, COR • Samu b. Astro SAMOAN DROP to win their SLAM debut. The Island Tribe will make their televised debut next week in a rematch with the Bad Storm.
Harley Race b. Larry Zbyzko, PILEDRIVER
This week on PowerSLAM!
An Ally Match between Larry Hennig and Steve Corino (Larry’s son Curt and Justin Credible will be the seconds for this match) in anticipation of a great week of action, plus the final lineup for September SLAM is announced. Have a great week!
Light-Heavyweight Tournament Match #4: PPW Tag-Champion Sabu b. Brad Armstrong, CAMEL CLUTCH. Sabu dominated and gained a submission following two devastating death jumps.
In-ring return of Chris Candido (w/Tammy) b. Larry Sharpe. Candido rallied from rough tactics outside the ring as he proved to be the superior wrestler and brawler. Sharpe fell victim to a superplex and a BLONDE BOMB in Candido’s triumphant return! Candido announced he will be in George South’s corner when South takes on Buddy Rose later in the program.
LWA Tag-Titles, Best-of-three falls with special referee Abdullah Farouk. Champions Red Bastien and Red Lyons versus Dock Hutton and Mike Dibiase. Controversial finish as Hutton b. Lyons with the ABDOMINAL STRETCH for fall one and a count-out decision over Bastien in fall two captured the second fall. Farouk amazingly let the match continue to see if the challengers could get a 2nd win by pinfall or submission, but Bastien came back with an ATOMIC DROP on Hutton in the 3rd fall. SLAM officials immediately made the announcement that the referee’s decision is final (albeit unusual), but the two teams will face-off in a Marathon Match next week to see who deserves to enter September SLAM as LWA Champions.
Returning from suspension, Buddy Rose (w/ Sherri) b. George South (with Candido and Tammy), COR. Rose slapped on a sleeper and it looked over for South, but Tammy distracted the referee from ending the bout. An enraged Rose attacked Tammy, but Candido made the save. However, while Candido brawled Sherri attacked from behind as Rose slid back into the ring beating the count and gaining a “cheap” victory. Candido looked like he was in prime condition for his Loser-Leave-SLAM Last Man Standing Match.
Vignette promoting the September SLAM Lineup (from Baltimore, MD) • SLAM World Title Round-Robin Tournament: #1 Seed Justin Credible vs. PPW Champion Rick Rude vs. LWA Champion Nick Bockwinkel in a “winner-take-all” to determine the 1st SLAM World Heavyweight Champion. • Loser-Leaves-SLAM, Last Man Standing: Buddy Rose (with Sherri) vs. Chris Candido (with Tammy). • Best-of-Three Falls LWA vs. PPW Tag-Team Unification: LWA Champions (determined next week) vs. PPW Champions Sabu & Sheik (with Abdullah Farouk) to determine the 1st SLAM World Tag-Team Champions. • Intercontinental vs. PPW Television Unification Match: IC Champion Don Muraco vs. Diamond Dallas Page to determine the first Intercontinental Television Champion of SLAM. • SLAM Light-Heavyweight Title Tournament Match: Savage-T vs. Mystery Opponent
Six Man Survival Match: Mad Dog Vachon, Ivan Koloff and Russian Front (with Lou Albano) b. Virgil, Dan Severn and King Kong Bundy (with Larry Sharpe). Eliminations: • Virgil b. Russian Front, top rope press. • Ivan b. Severn, attack with chain. • Bundy b. Koloff, DQ after Russian Front attacked Bundy with Koloff’s chain. Referee ordered all wrestlers who have been eliminated to the locker room as all eliminated wrestlers remained at ringside. • Vachon b. Virgil, DQ. Albano slipped a foreign object to Vachon, but Virgil intercepted it and used it in sight of the official. • Vachon b. Bundy, PILEDRIVER to win the match. Vachon was the sole survivor and a bloody Bundy (from an attack when Ivan Koloff was eliminated) needed assistance to get back to the dressing room. Vachon challenged the new SLAM champion to a title match after September SLAM.
Ally Match: Steve Corino (with Justin Credible and Sherri) b. Larry Hennig (with son Curt), OLD SCHOOL EXPULSION. Wild match which saw Curt and Corino enter into a post-match shouting and fist fight.
Non-Televised Main Event; No-DQ Toughman Triangle Tag Match: Ted Dibiase and Steve Williams b. Bruiser Brody & Jim Duggan then Crusher and Sandman. Eliminations from this action-packed encounter: Williams b. Duggan, football tackle and Dibiase b. Sandman, FIGURE-FOUR LEGLOCK. Former PPW Tag-Champions looked great in winning this special encounter as they are trying to become the first challengers for the SLAM Tag-Titles following September SLAM.

Sorry for all the posts tonight as I am cleaning up in preparation for my big September SLAM card and (hopefully) receiving Legends International. September SLAM
Free 4 ALL, Pregame show… Light-Heavyweight Tournament Match #6: Gorgeous George b. Savage T, gorgeous grip. George was Savage T’s surprise opponent for the final first round match in the tournament to determine SLAM’s Fighting Spirit Champion (Light Heavyweight Division).
Curt Hennig b. Steve Corino, HENNIG PLEX. Valiant effort by Corino, but two finishers from Hennig sealed the victory.
Bruiser Brody and Jim Duggan b. Crusher and Sandman, DQ in a wild match. Rules should be thrown out when these four wild men meet again.
Ted Dibiase b. Harker Dirge, LOADED GLOVE. Dibiase used his equalizer during a period of the match where the referee was KO’d. Good match.
Pay-Per-View Portion… Light-Heavyweight Tournament Match #7 (Quarterfinal): Mike Dibiase b. Danny Hodge, TOP ROPE KNEE DROP. Dibiase landed 3 of his finishers to gain the upset over the favorite in this tournament! Dibiase is the first wrestler to reach the final four in this tournament.
SLAM World Title, Round-Robin #1: PPW Champion Rick Rude b. Justin Credible, DQ. Credible used his SINGAPORE CANE one too many times, forcing the decision. Credible had the advantage and many wondered why he needed to use a weapon.
Intercontinental-Television Unification Match: Intercontinental Champion Don Muraco b. PPW Television Champion Diamond Dallas Page, over the shoulder backbreaker. Muraco becomes the first champion recognized by SLAM and used the backbreaker on Page after DDP missed a charge into the turnbuckle. Page still seems to be feeling the affects of Muraco’s attack during the contract signing for this match.
SLAM World Title, Round-Robin #2: LWA Champion Nick Bockwinkel b. Justin Credible, COR. Bockwinkel used a back suplex on the floor after dodging a chair shot during a ringside brawl. Credible is eliminated from the tournament as both Bockwinkel and Rude are 1-0, and the winner of their match will win the SLAM World Heavyweight Championship!
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT regarding the Light-Heavyweight Tournament as the final four of the tournament will be held at SLAM's next big event emanating from Milwaukee, Wisconsin: WrestleFest!
Jushin Lyger and Tiger Mask have been signed and will have a special playoff Quarterfinal in Tokyo which will be televised on a future edition of PowerSLAM! TV. This is a huge milestone for SLAM as months of legal wrangling and paperwork have been finalized and one of these great athletes will make their SLAM debut at WrestleFest for the Fighting Spirit Championship!
SLAM World Tag-Team Titles, Best-of-Three falls: Sabu and Sheik (PPW Champions with Abdullah Farouk) b. Hutton and Mike Dibiase (LWA Champions) to become the first champions. Another candidate for match of the year as Hutton and Dibiase captured the first fall by using excellent mat wrestling to neutralize the Sheik’s vicious tactics with Dibiase using his TOP ROPE KNEE to pin Sheik. The second fall saw a Double-DQ and SLAM officials announced that the match will continue until one team wins two falls.
Sabu pinned Hutton with a TRIPLE JUMP MOONSAULT following a wicked Arabian facebuster to even the match. Both teams unloaded for the final fall, but the Sheik rallied with his foreign object and polished off Hutton with a FIREBALL to win the belts! Hutton needed assistance to return to the locker room as Sheik, Sabu and Abdullah Farouk celebrated their victory in the ring.
SLAM World Title, Round-Robin #3: Rick Rude (with Dark Menace) b. Nick Bockwinkel (with Bobby Heenan), DQ. Rude wins the tournament to become the first SLAM World Heavyweight Champion. These two champions battled for nearly twenty minutes with both getting near falls, Bockwinkel with piledrivers and a FIGURE-FOUR LEGLOCK and Rude with Suplexes and a swinging neckbreaker.
However, Rude had Tricky Nick in trouble and Bockwinkel slugged the referee after a brief argument. Rude wins the belt and this would have been the match of the evening if not for the indecisive finish. Ironically, none of the Round-Robin matches ended in pinfall or submission. Final Round-Robin Standings: Rick Rude 2-0 (winner), Nick Bockwinkel (1-1) and Justin Credible (0-2). Rude exclaimed after the victory that he will party into the night with a “bevy of Baltimore beauties”.
Loser-Leaves-Slam, Last Man Standing Street Fight (thank you to the latest edition of the Promoter): Chris Candido b. Buddy Rose after a 10-Count. Candido has waited months to get Rose in this type of position and it showed early on as Candido unloaded his offense on the bewildered Rose. If this match was a First Blood Match, Candido would have won in the opening minutes as he busted Rose open with a Chain with vicious punches to the head and face.
Candido did not have to worry as he cruised to victory, landing two BLONDE BOMBS and choking Rose extensively with a chain and against the ropes. Candido used one more BOMB for good measure to win the match. The Baltimore Crowd sang “Na-Na-Na-Na, Hey-Hey, Goodbye” to Rose as he struggled back to the dressing room after Sherri Martel revived him using a pitcher of water!
SLAM Roll Call of Champions SLAM World Heavyweight Champion:Rick Rude SLAM World Tag-Team Champions: Sabu & The Sheik SLAM Intercontinental-Television Champion: Don Muraco SLAM Fighting Spirit Champion:VACANT (Champion to be determined by ongoing tournament)
Stay tuned for the next edition of PowerSLAM for the 1st ever Wrestling News Top 20 and updates on all the happenings at September SLAM!

Here is a tradition I use with every new release, a “New Blood” single-elimination tournament using the entire set. I added a twist this year as I used the LE cards Timber and Samoan Island Tribe to round out the field as there were two separate tournaments this time around: a singles-wrestler elimination and a three-team round robin (James Gang, Mongols and Island Tribe). Heading in, I pegged Mosca as a big favorite. I like his moves and the mechanics of his card. Here we go…
SLAM 008 House Show at Toronto, ONT Legends International New Blood Tournament and Round-Robin
Round-Robin Match #1: Alofa and Samu b. Mongols, DIVING HEADBUTT on Bepo. Small upset in the first match as neither team has been signed by a manager, yet.
New Blood Quarterfinals: Angelo Mosca b. Tiger Mask, SLEEPER Fritz Von Goering b. The Mountie, DQ for using shock stick. Pepper Gomez b. Jushin Lyger, MEXICAN CRADLE Tom Pritchard b. Timber, FOREIGN OBJECT (nux)
Round-Robin Match #2: James Gang b. Mongols, BG sleeper on Bepo Mongol. Mongols did not fare well in tournament.
New Blood Semifinals: Fritz Von Goering b. Angelo Mosca, DQ. Mosca used a chair to attack Fritz on the arena floor. Pepper Gomez b. Tom Pritchard in two moves: a wind-up punch to stomach and atomic drop caught a charging Dr. Tom!
Round-Robin Match #3: Alofa and Samu b. James Gang, double team headbutt on Kip. Island Tribe wins the tournament and caught the eye of one of SLAM’s premier managers!
New Blood Finals: Pepper Gomez b. Fritz Von Goering, Mexican Leap. Gomez wins tournament.
New Blood Champion: Pepper Gomez Round-Robin Champion: Samoan Island Tribe
NOTES: Exciting night of action as all of the new cards were fun to play, especially Mosca. He really pounded Tiger Mask and would have beat Von Goering until they both brawled out of the ring in a near DDQ. So far Mosca has used "extra force" every time he has landed a Big Nasty Elbow Drop. I liked the James Gang, but the Mongols were handled easily by both teams in this tournament. The Samoans have been on a tear in my fed and are in line for a tag-title shot., but first a SLAM manager is going to claim their contracts…Gomez is going to be fun to use and was going to slot him as a junior, but he has too many ready-made feuds to be used like that. He is going to a sleeper….I like the Tiger and Lyger cards, but Tiger was hurt with the 100-pound weight disadvantage to Mosca in his match. Lyger and Gomez went back-and forth, but Gomez power overcame Lyger’s tactics. My Fighting Spirit Title (juniors) is going to be heating up with these two Japanese legends in the mix…
SUMMARY: I anticipated Mosca being in this set awhile back as I remember his name was mentioned as a signee. The big guy will not disappoint as I have a long-term strategy for him. I like his toughness and football background which will land him against King Kongs Bundy and Brody, and football slobberknockers against Duggan, Williams and Crusher. Eventually I seem hovering near the top tier against Bockwinkel, Muraco and other top guys in my fed. Along with Tiger Mask he is my favorite in this set. I created a juniors division in anticipation of Lyger and Tiger Mask. This division is going to be something once I determine a champion from an ongoing tournament in my fed. Their mechanics are nice…
Pepper Gomez may be the “sleeper” card for me. I did not plan on using him immediately, but his success in the tournament and his history against other legends forced my hand. Card has some cool mechanics and his moves are pretty unique from others. Has a lot of flair and will fill a role for me, much like Tito Santana did in 1984-1988 in WWF-land…
Pritchard has a future as I am using him as an ally for Chris Candido, but may team or challenge for my I-C TV title or even the junior title. Mongols were a bust and it is going to be awhile before I bring them in for the right moment. The James Gang will be in soon, but need to settle my tag-division before doing so.
Humperdink is slotted to manage approximately 3 wrestlers as he is going to be the new man on the block with money to burn in acquiring talent for his House of Humperdink. Mountie will probably his first recruit and a current SLAM wrestler is #2, #3 is a surprise…Tough to get a handle on Von Goering, but I am bringing him in immediately even though he won two matches here, did not pin anyone. Will at least help in the mid-card.
I did not mean to go long, but the first card with the new set was fun to play and solid straight through.

SLAM 009 at Johnstown, PA PowerSLAM! TV Taping: Week one: Show opens with highlights of Pepper Gomez beating Fritz Von Goering to win the New Blood tournament from Toronto. Joey Styles and Bill Watts welcome the crowd and their special guest broadcast partner: Bobby Heenan! Heenan claims he will use this guest spot to scout and then exploit the weakness of all the wrestlers in SLAM. Styles sarcastically thanked him for being such a boon to the broadcast! Here we go! The Mountie (with Sir Oliver Humperdink) b. Savage-T, dropkick. Humperdink makes his SLAM debut with the Mountie making his television debut.
Ted Dibiase b. Timber, DQ for using his barbed wire ax handle on Dibiase. This left Dibiase a bloody mess as he was really busted open. Sean Mooney had a special report from fed HQ. He mentioned that a King Kong Bundy is suspended and Larry Sharpe’s manager’s license revoked due to the two men negotiating and appearing for a rival organization. SLAM officials will allow Sharpe to wrestle however. His first match as just a wrestler is next versus Pepper Gomez.
Pepper Gomez b. Larry Sharpe, sleeperhold. A promo for the upcoming WrestleFest being held in Milwaukee was shown. The highlight of the card: a SLAM World Title Rematch between champion Rick Rude and Nick Bockwinkel. The final four of the Fighting Spirit Title will be held, along with a tag-team title gauntletmatch featuring six of the top teams in SLAM. Light-Heavyweight Tournament Match #8: Tag-Team Champion Sabu b.Red Bastien, TRIPLE JUMP MOONSAULT. Wrestling News special interview with Bill Apter speaking with Nick Bockwinkel.Bockwinkel spoke briefly about his career as a dominant tag-team and heavyweight champion, but his real issue is about his loss in the round-robin or more correctly his second-place finish at September Slam.
Nick stated that he was never pinned by Rude and that the finish was inconclusive. He deserves better and so does the federation. That is why the upcoming title match with Rick Rude at WrestleFest will be a best-of-three falls event. Bockwinkel claims Rude cannot pin him twice in one night and if Rude does, he will retire from professional wrestling. Heenan was shocked at the broadcast booth, but recovered and said Bockwinkel has never trained harder and will be ready. Big news! Intercontinental Television Title Match: Chris Candido (w/Tammy and TomPritchard) b.Don Muraco (with Oliver Humperdink), top rope huracanrana to win the title.Muraco had a new manager, but this did not help him as Candido’s redemption is complete (he was injured by Rose when he won the Intercontinental Title and had to vacate) he beat the champion who won the tournament and the unification match.

SLAM Wrestle Fest at Milwaukee Free-4-All Pre-PPV special: Brad Armstrong b. George South, abdominal stretch
Diamond Dallas Page b. Larry Sharpe
Fighting Spirit Championship Semifinal 1: Mike Dibiase b. Sabu, DQ. Dibiase advances to the Fighting Spirit Finals.
Hardcore Tag-Team Challenge: Sherri’s Studs (Credible and Corino) The Hennigs . Credible DDT on Larry Hennig for the win.
Pay-Per-View Card: Road To Pain Quarterfinal: Bruiser Brody b. Ivan Koloff, DQ. Both men brought their chains to this encounter, but Koloff was caught using his and the referee stopped the match before any serious damage was inflicted.
Fighting Spirit Championship Semifinal 2: #1 International Contender Tiger Mask b. Gorgeous George, DQ. Tiger Mask used his Space Flying Tiger Drop to thwart and out of the ring assault by George. Cherie used her perfume atomizer on Tiger when George returned to the ring in rough shape from Mask’s aerial assault. Mask advances to the championship final.
Intercontinental Television Title Match: Champion Chris Candido (with Sunny and Tom Prichard) time-limit draw with Pepper Gomez. Candido controlled most of this match until Pepper used a gut shot to Candido late in the match. Gomez then clamped on the sleeperhold, but time ran out before Candido could be subdued. Candido staggered to the back after the decision, but neither man was dominant in this fun encounter.
SLAM Street Fight: Ted Dibiase b. Timber, Dibiase wanted revenge for Timber’s vicious assault with that barbed wire axhandle on a recent edition of PowerSLAM TV, he got a measure of it as he won with the FIGURE-FOUR after using a spiked glove as a weapon on the insane lumberjack.
SLAM World Tag-Team Championship, Wrestle Fest Gauntlet Rules: Champions Sabu and Sheik (with Abdullah Farouk) began the match after Angelo Mosca and The Mountie were introduced as the leadoff team. Sabu and Sheik frustrated the two Canadians and won the first match by DQ. Mosca lost his cool against the Sheik and used a chair to combat some of Sheik’s tactics. Sabu and Sheik by DQ.
Bruiser Brody and Jim Duggan were the second entrant and each had a score to settle with the champions. Duggan with Sheik for past encounters and Brody and Sabu were in the same ring for the first time since their championship tag team split-up. Sheik frustrated Jim Duggan and Hacksaw used his 2x4 to chase the Syrian madman from ringside. Sheik’s ploy worked and Sabu & Shiek win another by DQ.
Crusher and Sandman entered third and like Brody and Duggan had several scores to settle with the champions. Sandman and Sabu are mortal enemies from PPW and Crusher has plenty of bad blood versus the Sheik. Once again Sheik forced the team to wrestle sloppy and Sabu kept Sandman off balance. Sheik pinned Sandman following a controversial FIREBALL to win their third straight! Could Sabu and his uncle go all the way???
Samoan Island Tribe were the 4th team to enter the Gauntlet , but Sabu and Sheik made short work of Samu after he missed a turnbuckle charge. Sheik used the elbow drop after an Arabian Facebuster by Sabu to move one step closer to retaining the belts! An awestruck Lou Albano was speechless after his newest tag team dropped in defeat…
The Flying Redheads were the last team to enter the ring and could win the belts if they pinned The Sheik or Sabu. The entire gauntlet was a classic and the finale went up and down until the champions tactics punished the challengers. Sabu put Bastien through a ringside table for a count-out victory, retaining the titles against all odds (Sabu and Sheik started the Gauntlet). Abdullah Farouk stood gloating in the ring with the belts and said that SLAM had a conspiracy against his champions in this match. But the best way to beat a conspiracy is to squash it!
The Gauntlet Match is match of the year candidate along with another match involving the Flying Redheads: A Marathon Match where they won the LWA Belts against the Fabulous Kangaroos. However, Sabu and Sheik were impressive surviving against all their challengers in this match.
Fighting Spirit Championship: Tiger Mask b. Mike Dibiase, TIGER SUPLEX to become SLAM first Junior Heavyweight Champion under the Fighting Spirit Division. The #1 International Junior Heavyweight Contender becomes the first titleholder!
Main Event Best-Of-Three Falls SLAM World Championship: Champion Rick Rude (with Dark Menace) versus Nick Bockwinkel (with Bobby Heenan). If Bockwinkel submits or is pinned he will retire!
Awesome match and each man held near pinfalls with Rude rallying with a top rope sledgehammer and suplexes to almost beat Bockwinkel. However Tricky Nick was resourceful and beat a frustrated Rude with a SLEEPER to win fall one. That was all the opening Heenan’s mad would need as he continued the pressure in fall two and used his BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER to win the match and title. Bockwinkel will not retire, but Rude may be up for one more challenge in the rubber match between the two.
SLAM World Champion: Nick Bockwinkel SLAM World Tag-Team Champions: Sabu and Sheik Fighting Spirit Champion: Tiger Mask Intercontinental Television Champion: Chris Candido
Managerial Stables and Alliances Heenan Family: Nick Bockwinkel, Ray Stevens Dark Alliance (Dark Menace): Rick Rude, Larry Zbyzsko and Super-Star Destroyers Sherri’s Studs: Justin Credible and Steve Corino House of Humperdink: Don Muraco, Angelo Mosca and The Mountie Lou Albano: Samoan Island Tribe Abdullah Farouk: Sabu and Sheik

November Pain Results from Philadelphia, PA
Free 4 All Preview Show: Killer Kowalski b. George South, backbreaker. South started well with some near falls and almost an upset until Killer took over and used a backbreaker and pin combo to win the opener.
Gorgeous George b . Mike Dibiase, Gorgeous Grip. In this battle of junior heavyweights, George wins this battle and is guaranteed a title match for the Fighting Spirit Title currently held by Tiger Mask.
Larry-Z b. Crippler Stevens, DQ. Too much interference from Dark Menace (Larry-Z) and Bobby Heenan (Stevens) forced a DQ in Larry's favor. This is probably a new chapter in this rivalry between two men who have a history.
Bobo Brazil b. Fritz Von Goering, COCO BUTT. Brazil returns to action and makes short work of Von Goering with a series of COCO BUTTS.
Main Show: Special Dream Partner Six-Man Tag-Team Challenge: Dr. Death and The Midnight Express (with Jim Cornette) b. Samoan Swat Team and Superfly Snuka (with Lou Albano). Both Albano and Cornette chose curious special partners in this dream partner match and fans were still surprised at the outcomes as both Williams and Snuka have been at odds in the past with their respective managers for this match. A leery Snuka never tagged in as Williams and The Midnights showed better teamwork. Williams pinned Alofa with the OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE for the win and was actually congratulated by Eaton, Lane and Cornette!
SLAM Television Title Match with Lumberjack Rules: Champion Chris Candido b. Pepper Gomez, BLONDE BOMB. Candido controlled the action and Gomez actually seemed more fired up to tangle with the lumberjacks than try to win the TV title. Candido used the BLONDE BOMB after an extended skirmish and retained the gold.
Fighting Spirit Title, Best-of-Three falls: Champion Tiger Mask b. #1 International Contender Jushin Liger 2-0. The first fall ended in count-out after Liger missed a high-risk dive. Mask controlled the second fall and used two TIGER SUPLEXES to win the match. Liger was definitely injured and may miss some ring time. Mask is preparing himself to face Gorgeous George.
10-Man "Leave The Table" Elimination Tag-Team Match: House of Humperdink [Magnificent Muraco, Mountie, Angelo Mosca and The Mongols] b. Diamond Dallas Page, Crusher, Sandman and The James Gang. Survivors, The Mountie and Geeto Mongol. Eliminations: Great match which lasted over 30 minutes. Page was the last person in the ring with Mountie, Geeto Mongol and Muraco. However, Page eliminated everyone except the Mongol as he ran out of gas and was too fatigued to prevent Humperdink from interfering with the Mongol's chain. Page vowed "He will not stop with the House of Humperdink until he gets his hands on that fat b@#%*&"!
Rick Rude b. Ivan Koloff, DQ. Koloff used his chains to bash Rude cutting short a thrilling encounter between two crafty, strong competitors.
SLAM Tag-Team Titles, Triangle of Terror with Tables and Weapons legal! Red Bastien and Red Lyons b. Bruiser Brody and Jim Duggan after Brody pinned Sabu in the first fall to beat Champions Sabu and Sheik. The matchup of Brody and Duggan versus Sabu with Sheik spent the first fall trying to acquire a weapon. Sabu grabbed a whip while partner Sheik blindsided Duggan, but the whip backcracked stunning Sabu. Brody took advantage with a JUMPING KNEE DROP to eliminate the champs from the match. The Sheik wasn't finished as he smashed Brody with a chair leaving him open to a flying headscissor pin from Bastien ending the match. Bastien and Lyons win the titles, but Brody appeared injured at ringside and followed The Sheik and Sabu to the locker room.
SLAM World Heavyweight Championship with Special Referee Harley Race: Champion Nick Bockwinkel b. Ted Dibiase, COR. Race tried to be impartial, but the outcome proved otherwise. Bockwinkel spent the latter part of the match choking Dibiase on the ropes. Race subtly "argued" with Heenan while this behavior occurred weakening Dibiase. When Race was able to count, Dibiase dropped to the floor and was promptly counted out. The fans in Philadelphia hated the decision, but SLAM officials assure that they are working on something to clean up this controversy.
Ultimate Escape Cage Match, last men in the cage must leave SLAM: The Hennigs b. Steve Corino and Justin Credible. The Hennigs dominated throughout as both Corino and Credible received incredible amounts of punishment and were both busted open. The end occurred when Corino and Credible had Curt lined up for a cane shot, but Curt slipped Credible's grasp and Corino smashed a bloody Credible allowing Curt to escape. While the Hennigs celebrated outside the cage, Credible and Corino got into a vicious argument with both men blaming the other on losing the match (and their SLAM contracts). Officials did break up a mini-brawl, but both were yelling at the other while being dragged away. Interesting.
SLAM World Heavyweight Champion: Nick Bockwinkel SLAM Tag-Team Champions: Flying Redheads SLAM Television Champion: Chris Candido Fighting Spirit Titleholder: Tiger Mask
Recap: Only one title changed hands at this big event, but a wild night of excitement nonetheless. Especially exciting was DDP's gutty performance against the House of Humperdink...Something needs to be done about the Ted Dibiase situation as his title shot was squandered. Heenan forced SLAM officials to protect the champ with a special referee to combat Dibiase's "LOADED GLOVE", but the odds were tilted too much the other direction tonight...Bastien and Lyons win the gold in an exciting match, but the biggest development from this match is Brody's grudge with both Sabu and Sheik....Dr. Death looked sharp, as did the Midnights which left the fans wondering if this is to be a new alliance or a one-time deal.
