MatClassic I: Rise of the ICONS ~ PWI #1a 11.01.2070 from Cobo Hall, Detroit, MI - PWI United States Title Tournament, Round One - King Kong Bundy vs. Gorgeous George King Kong Bundy defeated Gorgeous George with an AVALANCHE Match Rating: 0.50 Match Notes: While Gorgeous George was strutting around the ring, and taking his time taking his robe off, Bundy got tired of waiting, and attacked. Not too long after, Bundy squashed Gorgeous George with the AVALANCHE for the pinfall.
- PWI United States Title Tournament, Round One - Jimmy Snuka vs. The Sandman The Sandman defeated Jimmy Snuka with a SINGAPORE CANE Match Rating: 4.00 Match Notes: This was an incredible match. Both men brawled throughout, ending up on the outside nearly as much as they were fighting on the inside. Snuka was planted 3 times in a row with the HARDCORE DDT, but he kept kicking out. Snuka countered, and connected with the SUPERFLY LEAP, but Sandman kicked out. Finally, Sandman had enough, and blasted an already bloody Snuka with the SINGAPORE CANE for the pin.
- PWI United States Title Tournament, Round One - Greg Valentine vs. Ox Baker Ox Baker defeated Greg Valentine with a HEART PUNCH Match Rating: 3.00 Match Notes: Good match, that saw both men on offense. Baker simply overpowered Valentine, though, and nailed the HEART PUNCH twice to get the pin.
- PWI United States Title Tournament, Round One - Bobo Brazil vs. Playboy Buddy Rose Bobo Brazil defeated Playboy Buddy Rose with a COCO BUTT Match Rating: 2.50 Match Notes: Rose put up a fight, but Bobo was just too much for him, as he split Rose's forehead with a solid COCO BUTT before taking the pinfall.
- PWI United States Title Tournament, Semi Finals - King Kong Bundy vs. The Sandman The Sandman defeated King Kong Bundy with a pinfall Match Rating: 2.00 Match Notes: Bundy was destroying Sandman. Powerslams, elbow drops, and bear hugs....but Sandman moved out of the way of a charging Bundy, sending Bundy crashing into the buckles, allowing Sandman to get the pinfall.
- PWI United States Title Tournament, Semi Finals - Ox Baker vs. Bobo Brazil Bobo Brazil defeated Ox Baker with a COCO BUTT Match Rating: 2.00 Match Notes: Baker pounded Brazil, both inside and outside the ring, but one mistake (missed a charge into the buckles) and Bobo capitlized with the COCO BUTT and then the pin.
- PWI United States Title Tournament, Finals - The Sandman vs. Bobo Brazil for the PWI United States Title Bobo Brazil defeated The Sandman with a big hammer punch Match Rating: 0.00 Match Notes: Sandman went for the kill as soon as the bell rang, but Bobo ducked a clothesline, then nailed the big hammer punch for the quick pin.

MatClassic I: Rise of the ICONS ~ PWI #1b 11.02.2070 from Cobo Hall, Detroit, MI - PWI World Tag Team Title Tournament, Round One - Simple Men vs. The Italian Stallions Antonino Rocca defeated Dick Hutton with an ARGENTINIAN BACKBREAKER Match Rating: 3.00 Match Notes: Pretty good match, but the Stallions simply outwrestled the Hutton & Bastien
- PWI World Tag Team Title Tournament, Round One - Ted DiBiase & Virgil vs. Male Models Inc. Ted DiBiase defeated Brutus Beefcake with a MILLION DOLLAR SLEEPER Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: Virgil and Beefcake put on a great show in this tag team match, as neither man was able to really out do the other. Finally, DiBiase ended the match when he locked Beefcake in the MILLION DOLLAR SLEEPER.
- PWI World Tag Team Title Tournament, Round One - Mike DiBiase & Bob Orton and Sr. vs. Sheik & Volkoff Iron Sheik defeated Iron Mike DiBiase with a DQ Match Rating: 3.00 Match Notes: Great back and forth tag match with lots of double teaming. Finally, DiBiase took the fight outside and was DQ'd outside the ring.
- PWI World Tag Team Title Tournament, Round One - Road Warriors vs. Valiants Hawk defeated Johnny Valiant with a gut wrench suplex Match Rating: 0.00 Match Notes: The Road Warriors dominated the match. The only thing that kept the match going as long as it did was Jimmy Valiant making the pin save after Johnny was hit with the DOOMSDAY DEVICE.
- PWI World Tag Team Title Tournament, Semi Finals - The Italian Stallions vs. Ted DiBiase & Virgil Antonino Rocca defeated Ted DiBiase with a DQ Match Rating: 2.00 Match Notes: Great match, until the idiot referee got in the middle of a deathjump. The ref was knocked unconscious for several moments, and when he finally came to, he DQ'd DiBiase for his own mistake.
- PWI World Tag Team Title Tournament, Round One - Sheik & Volkoff vs. Road Warriors Hawk defeated Nikolai Volkoff with a gorilla press slam Match Rating: 2.00 Match Notes: The Road Warriors brutalized Sheik, bloodying him up with hard offense and a spiked piledriver. Vokoff got the tag, and had a brief moment of offense, but Hawk turned things around and planted him with the gorilla press slam for the pin
- PWI World Tag Team Title Tournament, Finals - The Italian Stallions vs. Road Warriors for the PWI World Tag Team Titles Hawk defeated Antonino Rocca with a DOOMSDAY DEVICE Match Rating: 2.00 Match Notes: The Road Warriors dominated another tag team in this tournament, winning the Tag Titles.

Finally, Rogers locks on the FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE for the submission.
- PWI World Title Tournament, Round One - Giant Baba vs. Frank Gotch Giant Baba defeated Frank Gotch with a NECKBREAKER DROP Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: Great back and forth match. Gotch started out strong, maintaining control via crisp wrestling holds, until Baba connected with the Baba Chop, rattling Gotch to the core. Baba took control, and for the most part, dominated the majority of the match, ending the match with the NECKBREAKER DROP.
- PWI World Title Tournament, Round One - Nick Bockwinkel vs. Harley Race Harley Race defeated Nick Bockwinkel with a swinging neckbreaker Match Rating: 4.50 Match Notes: Classic. Both men were bleeding by the end of the match. Both men shared the offense throughout the match. Finally, Race took control, hit the swinging neckbreaker, and took the pinall (Bockwinkel fatigue tokens = 5 / Race fatigue tokens = 4).
- PWI World Title Tournament, Round One - The Destroyer vs. Wladek Kowalski The Destroyer defeated Wladek Kowalski with a pinfall Match Rating: 2.00 Match Notes: Kowalski tossed Destroyer around like a ragdoll, until he climbed up to the top buckles, and missed a deathjump, allowing Destroyer to quickly cover for the pinfall.
- PWI World Title Tournament, Semi Final - Buddy Rogers vs. Giant Baba Buddy Rogers defeated Giant Baba with a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE Match Rating: 3.00 Match Notes: Baba used his strength to keep Rogers reeling at first, but Rogers was able to turn things around, and knock Baba to the outside. Once back inside, Rogers kept Baba down to the mat, taking away his size advantage. Rogers locked on the FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE, forcing Baba to tap out.
- PWI World Title Tournament, Semi Final - The Destroyer vs. Harley Race Harley Race defeated The Destroyer with a PILEDRIVER Match Rating: 2.75 Match Notes: Intense match, as Race came into the match already tired from his classic battle vs. Bockwinkel. Destroyer made one mistake, missing a turnbuckle charge. This allowed Race to toss him to the outside, where he was run into the ring post. Back inside, Race quickly planted the PILEDRIVER for the pin.
- PWI World Title Tournament, Finals - Buddy Rogers vs. Harley Race for the PWI World Heavyweight Title Harley Race defeated Buddy Rogers with a diving headbutt Match Rating: 3.75 Match Notes: Race was already tired, and bleeding from his previous matches, but he still came out to the ring tih the intentions to win the tournament. Rogers went on the quick attack, but Race turned things around, taking the fight to the outside. Race maintained control, hitting an array of offensive moves. Race finally put Rogers away though, after a diving headbutt from the 2nd buckle.

PWI World Wide Wrestling ~ PWI #2 Cotton Bowl, Dallas, TX 11/12/1983
Segment #1
Playboy Buddy Rose vs. King Kong Bundy - Rose hammered away on Bundy with everything he could think of to use, but Bundy shrugged it off, and plastered him with the AVALANCHE....but Bundy didn't go for the pin, looking to infllict even more damage
- Bundy planted Rose with a running powerslam, followed up with a power drop, before tossing him to the outside, then slamming him into the announce table
- Back inside, Rose manages to fight back, and sends Bundy into the buckles, charges in with a shoulder
- Bundy whips Rose into the ropes, and then hits a back body drop
- Bundy lands a big elbow drop, but Rose somehow kicks out Bundy plants Rose with another running powerslam, then whips him into the buckles, then a big clothesline
- Rose attempts a come back, but Bundy quickly puts it down, nails the AVALANCHE, this time taking the 5-count for the win
- During the match, Ted DiBiase (w/ Virgil) had made his way to the announce podium for some “guest commentary”....he said he was looking for new recruits to join his Million Dollar Corporation, and Bundy was a prime candidate
Winner: King Kong Bundy via the AVALANCHE

“Name Your Price”
- After the match, Bundy confronted DiBiase....DiBiase asked him if he was interested in a contract...Bundy said “if the money is right”....DiBiase smiled....answered with “Everybody's got a price”, and the two headed to the back....
Segment #3
Iron Mike DiBiase & Bob Orton, Sr. vs. The Valiants - Orton leads vs Johnny
- Both men trade hard hitting offense in the opening moments, until Johnny kicks Orton in the groin
- Johnny whips Orton into the buckles....where Jimmy chokes him with the tag rope, before tagging in
- Jimmy unleashes using a foreign object, fistdrops, then takes Orton outside, and slams him into the ring post
- Back inside, Jimmy nails Orton with the foreign object again (something hidden in his hands that he keeps putting back in his tights), but Orton kicks out
- The tag to Johnny....spike piledriver to Orton
- Johnny tags back to Jimmy....the TOP ROPE ELBOW for the finish
Winner: The Valiants via the (Jimmy) TOP ROPE ELBOW (Orton)
Segment #4
“The Pure-Breeds”
- Frank Gotch, along with newcomers George Hackenschmidt, Ed “The Strangler” Lewis, and Jim Londos...
- Gotch says that he and his group are going to take over the PWI, and that the Pure Breeds.....the “Originals”....will be the champions.....
Segment #5
Greg “The Hammer” Valentine vs. Giant Baba - Valentine jumps Baba at the bell, clotheslining him through the ropes
- Valentine follows him to the outside, and runs him into the steel post, then tosses him back inside
- Valentine locks on the FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK, keeping the hold locked on for several moments before releasing it
- Valentine plants Baba with a piledriver, but Baba barely kicks out
- Valentine hammers Baba with his Valentine chops, then a neckbreaker, but Baba kicks out again
- Valentine locks the FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK on again, this time forcing Baba to tap out
Winnerr: Greg Valentine via FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK
Segment #6
“The People's Champion”
- United States Champion, Bobo Brazil, makes his way to the announce area for an interview....
- Brazil says that he is the first PWI US Champion, an honor that he holds in the highest regard....to represent the good people of the United States
- Greg Valentine confronts Brazil, telling Brazil that if Brazil is the Champion he thinks he is, then he would put the belt on the line against him.....
- Brazil accepts the challenge for next week, but as he leaves the announce area, Valentine launches an assault on Brazil!! Valentine bloodies Brazil with the US belt before leaving
Segment #7
Frank Gotch vs. The Destroyer - Gotch has his other 3 Pure Breeds out at ringside with him....Hack at the announce area, providing commentary, and Lewis & Londos at ringside....
- The match started out with intense counter wrestling
- Destroyer took control, though, hammerinig Gotch with a series of forearms, dropkicks, and headlocks
- Destroyer puts Gotch to the mat with a sensational suplex, but Gotch kicks out
- Destroyer continues his offense, but Gotch fights back, and locks on a crossface and arm bar, then a rolling knee bar
- Destroyer regains control after whipping Gotch into the buckles and then nailing a charging axe handle
- Destroyer locks Gotch into the FIGURE FOUR, but Londos & Lewis climb the apron distracting Destroyer and the referee....
- The ref orders the 2 men to leave the ring area, and as they leave the ring area, Hack confronts them and argues with them about their interference as they leave to the back room
- The distraction was enough for Gotch, though, as he nailed Destroyer with the Iowa backdrop, then locked on the guillotine choke
- Gotch's offense was short lived, as The Destroyer managed to slip under a charging clothesline, and locked Gotch into a sleeper, putting Gotch out in the middle of the ring
Winner: The Destroyer via an intelligent sleeper hold
Segment #8
“A Rematch Challenge Issued”
- Destroyer made his way to the announce area for a few words
- Destroyer says that if that is what the Pure Breed has to offer, then they need to go back to wrestling school
- Frank Gotch confronts Destroyer at the announce area, and issues a challenge....Best 2/3 Falls....next week
Segment #9
Jimmy Snuka vs. The Sandman - A rematch from the US Title Tournament
- Snuka goes on the attack like a madman possessed!!
- Snuka hammers Sandman with high impact offense, ending the string with a flying headbutt, but Sandman kicks out
- Snuka and Sandman fall to the outside, where both men are brawling...but Sandman takes control after smashing Snuka into the steel post
- Sandman then smashes Snuka with the SINGAPORE CANE, giving the match to Snuka via DQ
- Both men continue to fight to the back...
Winner: Jimmy Snuka via DQ
Segment #10
PWI World Tag Team Titles
Italian Stallions vs. Road Warriors © w/ Paul Ellering - Rocca leads vs. Animal
- Back and forth in the early moments....until Animal blasts Rocca with a flying shoulder ram
- The tag to Hawk...and a spike piledriver
- The tag back to Animal....DOOMSDAY DEVICE....but DiPaolo makes the pin save
- Animal plants Rocca with the POWERSLAM, but Rocca kicks out
- Animal with the boot to Rocca's gut, then locks on a bear hug before tagging back out to Hawk
- Hawk whips Rocca into the ropes...but Rocca ducks a clothesline, rebounds....flying drop kick
- Rocca with a victory roll, then locks on the ARGENTINIAN BACKBREAKER, but Hawk manages to power out of the hold Rocca locks on the bow and arrow, then makes the tag to DiPaolo
- DiPaolo and Hawk fall to the outside, where Hawk runs DiPaolo into the steel post
- Back inside, Hawk nails a running clothesline, then tags to Animal
- Animal sends DiPaolo crashing to the mat with a back body drop, tags to Hawk, and plants DiPaolo with a spike piledriver Hawk hip tosses DiPaolo, tags out to Animal....double clothesline
- Animal plants DiPaolo with the POWERSLAM for the pinfall
**ROAD WARRIORS DEFEND THE PWI TAG TEAM TITLES**
Winner: Road Warriors via (Animal) POWERSLAM (Ilio DiPaolo)
Segment #11
Elimination Tag Team Match Nick Bockwinkel & Buddy Rogers vs. Harley Race & Johnny Valentine - Race leads vs. Bockwinkel
- Bockwinkel hammers Race with a series of punches, then whips him into the ropes, but on the rebound, Race catches Bockwinkel with a cross body, but Bockwinkel kicks out
- Bockwinkel and Race brawl, fallling to the outside, then back inside
- Finally, Bockwinkel locks Race in the BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER, eliminating the PWI World Champ
- Valentine steps into the ring....as Bockwinkel tags out to Rogers
- Back and forth between Rogers and Valentine, with Rogers coming out on top, then tagging to Bockwinkel
- Valentine fights back, but Bockwinkel maintains control, locking on the BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER
- Bockwinkel tosses Valentine to the outside, then follows him out, and runs him into the ring post
- Back inside, the tag to Rogers
- Valentine began to make a comeback, but Rogers whips him into the ropes, and levels him with a clothesline
- Rogers nails an atomic drop, then rams Valentine's head into the ring post on the outside, opening up a brutal cut across Valentine's forehead
- Valentine still has life, but Rogers hammers a jumping knee smash, then tags to Bockwinkel
- Bockwinkel tosses Valentine to the outside, where Rogers smashes the already bloodied Valentine once again into the ring post
- Bockwinkel whips Valentine into the buckles, but misses a turnbuckle charge....
- Valentine nails the ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER, then takes Bockwinkel to the outside, and runs him into the steel post, opening up a cut across Bockwinkel's forehead
- Valentine bodyslams Bockwinkel onto the floor, then tosses him back inside
- Valentine lands another ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER, eliminating Bockwinkel
- Rogers steps in to the ring, across from a bloody Johnny Valentine
- Valentine goes on the offense, but Rogers counters a back body drop with a piledriver
- Rogers quickly locks on the FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE for the submission
Winner: Nick Bockwinkel & Buddy Rogers via the (Rogers) FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE (Valentine)
