In Phoenix, AZ, Jimmy Valiant wrestled the match of his life in beating Bobo Brazil to become the new United States heavyweight champion. Bobo held the belt for 22 cards, making six title defenses. Now the former champ could focus on getting a shot at the world title since he has been ranked #1 for quite some time. On the next show it will be Bobo and world champion Giant Baba against the Valiant Brothers.
Jimmy Snuka nearly dethroned Baba on the same night that Valiant won the U.S. strap. Baba was counted out of the ring and will have to give the Superfly another title shot.
Also on the next show Gorgeous George and tag team partner Buddy Rose will wrestle each other to see who will be the first LWF television champion. Each week a random wrestler will be drawn to see if they "Beat the Champ."
