TV Taping at the Calgary Stampede
* Show started with a recap of the end of the North American Title tournament, with Nick Bockwinkel laying out Frank Gotch and choking him out with the camera cable. We go inside the building to Ed Whalen, who welcomes us to the first edition of LWF TV.
* RED BASTIEN beat GREG VALENTINE by countout when Bastien was able to beat the count getting back into the ring. After the match, Johnny Valentine stormed down to the ring to join Greg in attacking Red, but Bastien got out of the ring before he arrived.
* Ted DiBiase got in the ring with Virgil and The Iron Sheik. The Iron Sheik was carrying his Iranian Clubs with him. DiBiase challenged anyone in the crowd to come into the ring and take the Iranian Club Challenge for $1000. All of a sudden, a portly little man jumped the barricade and climbed into the ring....but as he grabbed the microphone, Ed Whalen said "Oh no...it can't be..."
The man was indeed Jim Cornette, and started to rant and rave that he was bringing in a tag team that would dominate the LWF tag division, and next week he would show up with a tape that would reveal to the world who was in this tag team. He then left the ring as quickly as he had arrived, and left DiBiase speechless.
* TED DIBIASE (w/ VIRGIL) beat THE SANDMAN with the Million Dollar Sleeper. DiBiase had to reapply the Sleeper three times before Sandman finally was put to sleep.
* Ed Whalen had a telephone interview with The Destroyer, who is still feeling the effects of the attacks paid for by Gorgeous George and Playboy Buddy Rose. The Destroyer said that he would be returning to the LWF to confront the two of them in a couple of weeks, and that they should both watch their backs. He also said that he would make sure to finish the job he started so many years ago, and take Gorgeous George's hair one more time.
* THE VALIANTS beat THE ROAD WARRIORS by disqualification when Hawk threw Jimmy Valiant over the top rope. The Road Warriors were frustrated with the double teaming of the Valiants, and after Hawk accidently threw Jimmy over the top rope, the referee called for the bell.
* In the televised main event, FRANK GOTCH beat BUDDY ROGERS with a guillotine choke. Nick Bockwinkel was doing colour commontary with Ed Whalen, and after the match had a staredown with Gotch that was finally broken up by officials.
* To end the show, Frank Gotch vowed that he would take back the LWF North American Title, and he wouldn't rest until he got his hands on Bockwinkel again.
*****************
BONUS DARK MATCH: non-title
* LWF North American Champion NICK BOCKWINKEL beat OX BAKER with the Bockwinkel Sleeper. The referee was knocked out, and Ox Baker hit Bockwinkel with the Heart Punch, but there was no official. Bockwinkel rolled to the floor to recover, and then pulled Baker out and threw him into the ringpost. He took Baker back in the ring and locked in the Bockwinkel Sleeper, which the ref saw and rang the bell.
After the match, Frank Gotch tried to tell the official what happened, but that gave Bockwinkel a chance to attack him from behind, knocking him out with the title belt. The action was captured by LWF cameras, and footage will be shown next week.
NEXT WEEK:
* Johnny Valentine v. Bobo Brazil
* Buddy Rose v. Jimmy Snuka
* King Kong Bundy v. Giant Baba
* Road Warrior Hawk v. The Iron Sheik
* TV MAIN EVENT: Harley Race v. Johnny Valiant
ALSO: Jim Cornette's video tape, an interview with Nick Bockwinkel, and Ted DiBiase gives fans another chance to win.
