Hey guys, I just got the 3/3 and 3/4 shows from Ring of Honor, and I thought it'd be fun to comment on it as I watched and rated the matches. Some huge matches on these cards! Join in with your thoughts if you'd like

FIFTH YEAR ANNIVERSARY 3-3-07 - Liverpool, U.K.
DAVEY RICHARDS vs. HOMICIDE Davey Richards comes out and slaps away the fans' hands, flips some people off, and totally stares down a kid until he turns away and goes back to his dad. 'Bout time he showed some personality! Homicide is way over, of course and the chants of 'Homicide' and '1-8-7' are really loud during his entrance. Richards did good on his entrance... Richards got a huge ovation when he came out and now everyone is booing him. They need to get smaller referees for the shorter wrestlers. It doesn't look like the referees could take them or anything, but they just look small. Richards is 5'6", Homicide isn't much taller. Great chain wrestling to start things off, crowd is into it. You know what I just realized? John Cena is AWESOME at the beginning of the match. He really pumps up the crowd for the battle to come in the early going. Cena is the best wrestler in the world. I'd love to see Homicide vs. Cena, I think they'd put on a good match. HOLY CRAP, Richards goes for a suplexe and frickin' chunks Homicide onto the ropes! Richards took Homicide's bandana! I think Richards read everyone talking about his lack of a personality, because he's really bringing it and making this match dope. You know who else lets his personality show through in his matches, thus making his matches better? John Cena. Richards spits on Julius Smokes! No one in the building is cheering for Richards. Way to go fans! The new Ring of Honor ring logo is very lame. I miss the black mat, red 'ROH' logo. Simple and beautiful. Homicide with a sick tope con hilo! Richards sells it well. One of the best matches I've ever seen Richards wrestle. Most of the time he just goes from move to move and it's hard to get into him. He really worked the psychology here and it was easy to hate him, especially with him going up against the ROH icon Homicide. "This piece of crap Puerto Rican is dead!" Whoa, Davey, easy! Homicide isn't happy and nails the top rope Ace crusher! Goes for the lariat... handspring enzuigiri from Richards (which looks SICK if you haven't seen it), Homicide bounces off the ropes and LARIAT! 1....2... Richards is up! Danielson couldn't kick out of it, but Richards pulls it out! Richards is hurting, though. Richards soon gets a reversal and is holding a weird inverted Walls of Jericho... Homcidie reverses... Cop Killa?? No, reversal into a German suplex! Homicide reversal and hits the Three Amigos and the crowd chants "Eddie! Eddie!" Homcidie crushes Richards with a frog splash 1...2... no!!! Richards sets up the Cop Killa again. Richards looks like he's going to reverse it, but Homicide gets him up and nails it!! 1...2....3! Homicide wins! Announcers say Homicide vs. Joe in Joe's final ROH match! Sweet! Rating - *** 1/4 (props to Richards for picking up the psych part of the show and Homicide was dope as always. Great way to start off the show!) "Odelay in the U.K.!"

The Briscoes cut a promo telling SHINGO and Naruki Doi to bring it on! They tell the world it's time to 'man up!' and I agree with them. I love these guys.
Neilybob loves the ladies.

JIMMY JACOBS & JIMMY RAVE vs. BJ WHITMER & COLT CABANA Jimmy Jacobs is so great these days. His gimmick has changed from the heartsick emo kid to the psycho-obsessed, ultra-violent Jacobs we know and love today. His new entrance music is awesome and Rave does his 'stare down the camera thing' and the screaming starts and it looks awesome. Cabana comes out with Whitmer and Cabana grabs the announcer's arm as they pass outside the ring and starts singing along to his song! I think it's awesome Cabana was signed by the WWE. He's a perfect fit, and I think he could be a giant star. WHOA, picture-in-picture technology! We can see Jacobs choking Cabana while Whitmer almost tosses Rave over the balcony! Rave and Whitmer beat each other up all over the arena. Some fat kids flip off Jimmy Rave, and Rave couldn't be less impressed. Watching this knowing soon I'll get to see the supposedly unbelievable battle between Jacobs and Whitmer gets me pumped. I love Jacobs and apparently both men destroyed one another. WHITMER IS GOING TO POWERBOMB.. UHOH... ON THE RAIL! Oh man that looked bad. "Holy s***!" chants followed by the crowd cheering for Whitmer! Whitmer is kicking the crap out of Rave now, but Jacobs slams him with a chair from outside the ring. Good job, buddy! Rave is such a great heel! Though there's no more toilet paper, people still hate Rave. Here's another guy with a big future. Cabana hits an Asai moonsault on both Rave and Jacobs! He works both guys over. Double butt butt! Double atomic elbows!!! A hurt Whitmer is back in and helps Cabana beat up Jimmy Rave. Running knee to Rave's head! 1...2... Jacobs with the save! Jacobs knocks Cabana off the apron and hits Whitmer with like 6 elbows! Cabana is up but gets speared!! Jacobs is awesome! Diving senton on Whitmer! 1...2.. nope! Jacobs goes for the Contra Code, but that move is always, always reversed. Whitmer handling Jimmy J. now. Whitmer is going for a super exploder, but Jimmy Jacobs flips over Whitmer and drops him with the SUPER CONTRA CODE! And it's over! HAHA A d*mn old man mouths off to Jimmy Jacobs and Jimmy rears back his fist and the first two rows of people jump back! HAHA you old man. rating: ** 3/4 (not bad, but we've seen it before. Everyone was pretty good, especially Jimmy Jacobs.)

BEST 2 OUT OF 3 FALLS DELIRIOUS vs. MATT SYDAL Sydal comes down to the ring with the Dragon Gate Open the Brave Gate (like WWE's Intercontinental belt). He also has the lamest entrance song ever (Alkaline Trio's 'Clavicle'). Delirious, however, is awesome. Sydal lets Delirious do his thing while being cocky. We know he's cocky because the announcers have said it four times now before they even lock up. Delirious walks over to the referee and pats him on the chest! Sydal tries to go over to get some favor, but Delirious pulls the ref away and hugs him and raises the referee's arm! The referee is unbiased, though, and won't have it. "DODODO, LIVERPOOL!" Delirious dances his way out of a wristlock and I'm in love. Sydal: "Hey, he kicked me." Referee Todd Sinclair: "So." Delirious: "This guy raped me!" Delrious corners a confused Todd Sinclair and the match resumes. Later Sydal moves away from the ropes acting like his (very short) hair was pulled. Delirious: "WHOA HEY HA I didn't even do nuthin'." Sydal is so freakin' agile! No wonder he's over so well in Dragon Gate. His split leap frog clears Delirious by a mile. "Here's that cockiness coming into play again!" Thanks, announcer! Sydal has some nice kicks! All sorts. Lots of mat work from the two. Delirious really has great transitions. Referee: "1...2" kickout from Sydal Sydal, as he holds his head: "That was one..." Funny! The crowd is finally into Sydal after a perfect inverted headscissors takedown and an elevated dropkick. Solid. Three huge turnbuckle-to-turnbuckle charges very reminiscent of the Dragon Gate style. He may be as speedy as Masato Yoshino and way more muscular. Wonder why the WWE hasn't picked up this guy head? He's like the prototype for a WWE guy. Good looking, clean cut, muscular, kind of bland. DANG, big soccer kick sends Sydal's face into the upper seats! Fall one goes to Sydal after kicking Delirious in the balls and rolling him up. Delirious grabbing the Dragon gate belt for some reason haha. The referee takes it away from him. Sydal is choking Delirious with one of his tassles. I guess it's not a foreign object since it's part of Delirious's costume. Sydal is cheating like a mofo now. Delirious is back after a while though, and the crowd loves him for it. Sydal's standing moonsault is crazy! His Sydal Press is too, but it's too early for that. Something I hate about Matt Sydal: he always says what move he's going to do as he climbs the top turnbuckle. "SYDAL PRESS!" or in this case "BELLY TO BELLY!". Ugh. Reversal, Shadows Over Hell, Cobra Stretch and Sydal taps! The final fall is coming! Sweet DDT from Sydal and I can't believe that didn't end the match. Looked really brutal. "Waisting a little time being cocky!" Yeah? Sydal Press! Delirious moves! Sydal lands on his feet! Both against the ropes! Delirious arm drag... COBRA STRETCH! 1...2... NO! Sydal pin! 1...2 Delirious rolls into a crucifix pin! 1...2... NO! Sydal up and hits the ! 1...2.... NOOOO! Delirious in control now and is on top! Sydal shoves the ref into the ropes, racking Delirious! Sydal is up (but doesn't say a move name! Awesome!) MOONSAULT BELLY TO BELLY! 1....2....3 It's over! Sydal with a big win! rating - *** (Should have just been a one fall match. Great early stuff from Delirious and Sydal. Sydal needed this to look good... Delirious will always be over.)

FiP HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH RODERICK STRONG (c) vs. PAC I'm praying for a squash here. The British love their own and the British love Pac. Big heat for Strong, the emotionless wonder. I hate his super-phony cocky smile. Not believable! You just know he's a nice, polite guy in real life. Because it's being defended in Britain, it's not the FiP WORLD Heavyweight Championship. Pac reaches out for a handshake, Strong spits in his face! D'oh! I'm only half watching this match to tell the truth. I'm not a huge fan of Strong. He does work pretty stiff, though. Strong's beating the heck out of Pac. Pac's been losing for a long time now. Oh my god, Pac is floppin' around and he's in control! Lame! (fast forward) RODERICK STRONG HITS A TIGER DRIVER! 1...2....3!!!! OH MY GOD rating - * (I just dont care.)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jimmy Jacobs is in the basement, mad that he didn't really hurt Cabana or Whitmer! He sees a ref pass by and tells him to grab BJ Whitmer and tell him he wants him in the basement NOW and he'd better be ready to fight!!!
Seriously WWE, take some notes.

ROH WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP THE BRISCOES (c) vs. NARUKI DOI & SHINGO The Briscoes are my favorite wrestlers in the world right now. They also have the coolest shorts. Jay has his belt around his neck. Mark has no teeth and prays in the corner (apparently praying that he won't die doing a shooting star press. He does have an awesome shooting star press, though.) Jay's head is almost completely smooth, so it's easy to tell the two brother apart now. Watching this match, I realize The Briscoes could be mega-over in the WWE. Doi is a solid wrestler, but he doesn't have cool tattoos like Jay. Inexplicably, this doesn't matter in the match as SHINGO and Doi work over Jay. Mark's in, but he's getting bullied by SHINGO. Like 20 headbutts put Mark down! Ouch. Variant of the Doomsday Device, cocky pin by SHINGO! C'mon buddy, these are The Briscoes! You'd better man up and hook that leg! Another double team move. 1...2... Jay is in for the save and Doi shouts some Japanese at the ref! Briscoes back in control. SHINGO getting stomped, kicked, and kneed by Mark. OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Jay holds SHINGO in the decapitation hold and Mark hits a corkscrew split-legged moonsault into the decapitator! OH. MY. GOD. Amazing. SHINGO hits a DDT and a reverse STO on both Briscoes at the same time. Dope! OH MAN!!!! Mark is on the floor Jay is in the ring! Jay throws Doi into the ropes! Doi ducks the clothesline and SUICIDE DIVE THROUGH THE ROPES taking out Mark! Sweet move! Doi was part of the 5-star Dragon Gate 6-man from last year and the people remember, cheering on the Dragon Gater. Dope senton from Doi almost ends it! Mark is really hurt and in the wrong corner. "This is awesome!" says the crowd. Indeed! Flipping neckbreaker from the top rope!! Mark is so awesome. Karate chop from Jay to Doi's throat with "Hyahh!"! Jay is awesome. Mark with the sick Shooting Star Press from the top rope onto SHINGO on the outside! Jay and Doi back and forth! Exciting! No one can retain control for long. Springboard frog splash from Mark... he screams out, which he stole from Dakota in NOAH. Dragon Gate turnbuckle charge work! Doi in then SHINGO! WHOA sick move from SHINGO AND DOI! Shingo racks Mark over his knees and Doi with the flying splash! Looked sick! Germa superplex from Doi on Mark! Mark flipped over and landed on his face! Briscoes in control now and both climb the ropes! Mark goes for the Shooting Star Press, but Doi gets the knees up! Superplex from SHINGO on Jay! Splash from Doi! OH NO! 1...2..... NO JAY'S UP! SHINGO accidentally clothesline Doi! Yakuza Kick sends SHINGO over the top rope! Total Elimination on Doi! Neckbreaker! 1...2......Doi's up!!!! The Briscoes call for the springboard Doomsday Device, but SHINGO interferes. Doi getting destroyed by The Briscoes in the ring! Jay with a Death Valley Driver! 1..2...no!!! I can't catch my breath! Big lariat from SHINGO on Jay! Mark goes a springboard move but gets a lariat of his own! Sick basement dropkick from Doi on Mark while SHINGO holds him. Mark is up... CUTHROAT DRIVER?! No!!!! SHINGO reverses and nails Mark with his pumphandle half nelson driver! 1...2......3!! HOLY CRAP! rating **** (Frickin' amazing. Just amazing. The Briscoes can't put on a bad match. Wow. Props to SHINGO and Doi too!) Jay and Mark jaw at each other. Who's fault was it? Doesn't matter, they're gonna man up and fight one another tomorrow! Knucks! YES!

SAMOA JOE vs. NIGEL McGUINNESS Tough one for the crowd here! London's own Nigel McGuinness against Samoa Joe in his second-to-last match! They can't make up their minds and cheer for both. Streamers for both. Slaps back and forth! The crowd cheers everything these guys do. Sweet move where Joe clotheslines the legs out from McGuinness while Nigel was on the apron, sending him face-first to the mat... then giant swing into the railing! Joe Joe Joe! Everyone in attendance chants Ole! as Joe hits the Ole kick! "One more time! One more time!" Joe's not about to let down his fans on his farewell tour! Nigel is BUSTED up! A loopy Nigel is thrown into the ring... PSYCHE, rebound lariat!! "Eff 'im up, Nigel, Eff 'im up!" Golden State vs. Utah... distraction... Nigel has strained a groin muscle, but manages Joe up to a turnbuckle! Tower of London reversed into The Choke! Gets to the ropes, gets Joe up again, TOWER OF LONDON! 1...2.. NO! Joe is back with a punching combo! Powerslam! That's a lot of slam! STF! DONT TAP, NIGEL! There's 13 minutes left on this show, he's not going to tap. NIGEL GETS TO THE ROPES! Those are closed fists, Joe. Stop. LARIAT FROM NIGEL! CA-BOOYAH! 1...2... KICK! Nigel has Joe up again! Throat chop! What the heck!?!? He's going for a ToL on the apron! Joe says NO! What?! Musclebuster?!?! OH... MY... GOD. MUSCLEBUSTER ON THE APRON!!! NIGEL IS DEAD!!! "Holy s***! Holy s***! Holy s***!" "You killed Nigel!" "You killed Nigel!" Nigel isn't moving. Several officials out now and he's unconscious. The match is over as Nigel is hauled off by Sinclair and company. Joe says "You can walk out of here tonight, you don't need any help. Come back and shake my hand, let's do this the right way." "Nigel." "Nigel?" "NIGEL. GET IN HERE AND SHAKE MY HAND." The referees try to shove Nigel to the back, but Nigel is going the ring! He's limpin, half-conscious, and pissed! Nigel gets into the ring... calm... Joe reaches out his hand... NIGEL SLAPS THE TASTE OUT OF JOE'S MOUTH!!! Joe with punches! THE MATCH IS BACK ON! Superkick from McGuinness. Several moves later Nigel is kicked into the ropes.. REBOUND LAR.... NOOOO vicious slap from Joe! Sets him up for the Musclebuster again! ANOTHER MUSCLEBUSTER! 1...2...... OH MY GOD NIGEL KICKED OUT! Nigel stumbles around the ring, grasping for a rope! Joe off the ropes.... HUGE LARIAT! 1... 2... NOOOOOO!!!!! Nigel is alive, but barely! The crowd chants "Nigel, Nigel!!" Short arm lariat! 1... KICKOUT AT ONE!!! Nigel won't die! Nigel calls Joe a tosser and flips him the bird, but Joe beats him down again! Joe throws him into the ropes, Nigel back with a REBUOND LAR.. Joe with a clothesline NO ducked, Nigel with a roll up! 1...2.... no, so close! Nigel does the headstand on the turnbuckle and gets kicked in the face. THE CHOKE! Nigel reverses into a pin! 1....2... Joe's out! Joe grabs a crossface submission!!! NIGEL TAPS! OH MY GOD WHAT A MATCH rating - **** 3/4 (OH MY GOD! Match of the year candidate.)

Samoa Joe gives an awesome speech to close out the show. Great visual of Joe saying "This is not a revolution! This is a prepetuation of tradition!" as the lights shine down on him amidst a super-packed crowd. Joe passes the torch to Nigel. Awesome.

I don't care for Roderick Strong, really, so I wasn't into the match. Even then there are more agile guys on the ROH roster and he just doesn't stack up IMO. Joe/Nigel, Briscoes/Dragon Gate, and Homicide/Richards were all awesome. If Strong showed me some personality like Davey is, I'd be all about him.
