I haven't been to an Ohio Valley show live for a while...since they were over across the river in Indiana. But went to the TV taping last Wednesday with promoter JM Punk..who came from Cleveland to see the taping.
Worst thing almost....we arrived at 7:05 and there were 2 people in front of us after everyone was in. They almost shut the doors on us! But they set up some extra chairs by the wrestlers entrance, so I did see myself from a distance a couple times during the show.
The Miz vs Elijah Burke match was pretty decent. They've given Burke an James Brown-Apollo Creed "I live in America" gimmick, complete with a Red white and blue outfit. Both looked pretty good.
After watching the match from TV...Deuce (Shade..Jimmy Snuka's son) and Domino, doing a 50s greaser gimmick, looked pretty good. Both have good size and some good charisma. They are really working well as a team and you may see them in the next year on Smackdown.
CM Punk vs Seth Skyfire was the main event. I never thought much of Seth, but he actually put on a pretty entertaining match vs CM. It was a three star match.
The arena was a lot bigger than I expected. It's a converted warehouse with seats on three sides of the ring. Looks to seat about 300. And it was packed. And it was surprisingly loud. But mostly a southern crowd as usual with the faces getting the cheers.
Forgot...Cody Runnells wrestled. They are making claims that it's Dusty Rhodes' son. But they look NOTHING alike. Cody is trim and has black hair. But I'm guessing they wouldn't lie about it.
I'll try and post some pics tomorrow of the event.
