From Jim Cornette's Championship Wrestling Magazine, circa 1982 (Right before Jarrett gave him a shot at managing) That's Gypsy Joe, well into his 40s, doing a high dive off the top rope onto a porn mustached Robert Gibson as "sneaky looking" Tojo Yamamoto is holding Gibson.

I know some people love New Jack, but I can't stand him. Someone already called him a street thug who somehow was lucky enough to land a job in pro wrestling. I found that an astute observation. New Jack is a street thug. Nothing more. And I am almost positive that he will meet with a sticky end (in the ring or out) sooner rather than later.

You could be right. I've seen NJ take some sick dives.

Look at the last picture on that page. It has Gypsy Joe from 1995 and he looks really old then. Imagine him 10 years later and a thug like New Jack legit beating him up. New Jack is a real tough guy.

Love em or hate em, no one does the balcony dive better then New Jack. You realize how little this says about his wrestling abilities. All he really did was fall off of things. He usually didn't even really jump.

And actually, now that I think about it. How tough is New Jack really?
Sure he can whack an octogenarian, but how long would he last in a legitimate fight against, say an ultimate fighter? Or against a technically sound wrestler who just decided to shoot on him (like a Chris Jericho or Kurt Angle)?

The guy has had 4 justifiable homicides.

Well most pro-wrestlers wouldn't stand a chance against an ultimate fighter but I imagine New Jack wouldn't stand a chance against a Kurt Angle, CM Punk, Samoa Joe, or anyone else with any training at all in wrestling or martial arts of any sort. The guys body is really broken down at this point. Being able to kill someone doesn't mean that you are tough. I imagine that his 4 homicides involved weapons much like all of his matches do.

Guys, first of all, are you really having this conmversation: "Who could beat up who in a fight?"
And secondly, let's be real here. New Jack aka Jerome Young has apparently spent some time making a living as a drug dealer and a collections guy for a small time criminal. But there are no records of the four "justifiable homicides" that he claims to have done as a bounty hunter in Atlanta.
He was basically a common streeet thug who like dto brag aboutt hings he never did.
That being said, it's pretty stupid to say that someone "isn't tough" because they arent't some sort of trained martial arts fighter...lot of dudes out there making their living running the streets and there are some real as hell gang bangers that I seriously doubt any UFC fighter in their right mind would want to F with.

I never said NJ was a good wrestler. But if you look at his carrer, his Balcony dives, they are called dives, not jumps, are pretty sick. Gitta hand it to a guy THAT reckless. that kind of stuff takes real balls. Iwouldn't even dive off a 25 ft. balcony, even if it was through a table. That has broken ribs and internal bleeding written all over it. You couldn't feed me enough beer to even get me to consider it.
NJ has his place in wrestling. He's a garbage wrestler, and thats fine by me. He's good at what he does, and thats taking hellacious bumps.

Also, a lot of people rag on New Jack because they consider him a "common street thug". yet others have said that out of the ring he's a pretty good guy. I don't think the kind of person he is outside of wrestling should EVER come into the arguement when discussing his place in wrestling. I'm sure there are a lot of stars past and present who many of you are fans of that weren't the greatest of people outside the ring.
ANd to say he intentionally tries to hurt other performers is strecthing abit. I think he hurts himself more in matches then he does his opponent. The style of wrestling his specializes in yields itself to injury. Its kinda impossible to do a safe balcony dive. The guys he is booked to fight know all this stuff coming in, if they didn't want anything to do with him they could back out.
Newjack and Mustafa as the Gangsta are one of the most violent tag teams in wrestling history and I thank them for all the violence and blood, not to mention the brutal Caged in Hoodie matches they've provided us over the years. I'd love to see a New Jack card in LOW.

I think it's great that a guy takes bumps. but it's really the ONLY THING he could do. New Jack is exaclty the kind of wrestler that invutes criticism of the industry and his style is the reason that hardcore wrestling get sa bad name.
If he could've done anything to get himself over other than garbage spots, I'd be willing to debate his "talent." But if you take away the fact that "he falls down good" he's got nothing. No promo skills, no ring ability, no sense of psychology; he's garbage wrestling's version of Chris Masters.
Guys like New jack, and Pogo the Clown, and Messiah and all that CZW bullshit are basically an insult to the industry and cater to the lowest common denominator. The only talent required is a high threshhold for pain and the sooner those kinds of promotions go out of business the better.

New Jack has intentionally hurt people as was mentioned at the beginning of this thread. Go read that first.
The point I was making about toughness was only due to the fact that the only guys he chooses to for real mess with in the ring are insanely overweight 17 year olds and someone who should have retired 20 years ago. He might as well go out there and beat up women. You talk about these real as hell gang bangers...Why in the world would any UFC guy actually fear one of these guys other than the fact that they might pull a weapon or that they would get their homies to fight for them. Any trained fighter is going to be able to beat up any common street thug. Do you know how easy it would be for an Ultimate fighter to take down a thug and break their arm or choke them out. Sure they could fight dirty but so can Chuck Lidell. Lidell would just thumb them in the eye and knock their lights out.

"other than the fact that they might pull a weapon" You're absolutely right. Why would you be afraid of someone when the only thing you have to worry about is being shot at? Listen, take it from someone who has been in combat, a "fight" isn't an organized thing. It doesn't matter if you're a trained fighter, dealing with someone who is willing to kill you is scary.
