I'm wondering what everybody's take on bootlegs is. I know their are some people who use them and others who won't go anywhere near them. I use a lot for my federations, but since I am running three promotions, I kind of need them. Back in the Superstar Pro Wrestling Game days I made a whole lot of bootlegs, but of course they always did better than the cards that came with the game so that wasn't good. But I haven't had that problem with LOW. Anyway what's the general opinion on bootlegs?

I don't run any bootlegs in my fed now, although I ran my own bootleg WWF years ago (back before LOW). The good thing about bootlegs is that you can use guys who Tom will probably never get (Brett Hart, Hogan, Flair, etc) or hasn't yet. You just need to be careful not to "load up" cards too much unless they REALLY deserve it (see Flair, Hart and Hogan).
A friend, my brother and I had 60-100 bootlegs we did over the years, including current LOW stars Koko, Hacksaw Jim, Superfly, Greg Valentine, the Road Warriors, King Kong Bundy, Ted DiBiase and Virgil. It was a lot of fun, and let us play out feuds with the guys then on TV that we never could with COTG. Speaking of which, I may have to put together cards for RVD, Evolution, the Rock, et al now....

I'm inclined to not use any bootleg Legends in my LWF. I would like to writeup my own cards for whoever I want and run another Legends fed separate from Tom's. I've seen a lot of bootleg cards of stars and a lot of times they get overpowered just like GWF ones. Unless I really studied someones card and agreed with it I'd probably do my own card if I decide to use them. With over 1,000 wrestling tapes I can do the research ;D

I'm probably gonna use occasional bootlegs, but just for guys coming through on tour. IE: "The World Champion" might show up for a title defense or two, or DiBiase might bring in someone to fight for him, etc.

I use a lot of bootlegs but I keep it to guys that are retired or no longer in their prime. I will discard bootlegs as new "official" versions come out.
