As discussed in my Splatter Triple Cross thread, Chewey-style...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So leading up to the Countdown to Destruction card, Shylock saves Rhiannon, and pulls her outside to the back alley.
"Rhiannon," Shylock stammers. "Rhiannon, I know I have hurt you in the past, but I couldn't bear the thought of losing you just now. I love you and I always have."
Rhiannon sheds a tear, but Shylock takes her into his arms and kisses her passionately. Saboteur is forced to endure this show of affection as Rhiannon refuses to allow Saboteur to resist.
However, as Shylock pulls away, he caresses Rhiannon's hair, and says "Rhiannon, I love you. But Saboteur must go," and promptly puts a bullet in her head.
And then, Shylock nonchalantly walks away... without showing remorse.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As Shylock comes down to the ring, Splatter is confused that Rhiannon is not with him. "What about going according to plan?" he asks?
"Can it, Splatter. I knew you were out to triple cross me from the beginning. Didn't you think that my sources were better than that?"
Shylock reveals to the world that Saboteur/Rhiannon tried to murder him, and that he killed them out of self-defense. His sources uncover Doomsayer as an accomplice to the plot as well, and the authorities apprehend the evil genius. Splatter tries to accuse Shylock of premeditatively plotting Saboteur/Rhiannon's death, but is unable to do so, partly because his own involvement in Doomsayer's plot sank his credibility.
Splatter has no choice but to take the body of Saboteur, who had been controlled by another person, and manage him in POW. "These past several months, I have been training this body to destroy Shylock, but I never expected that I would be able to do it myself," as the 'new' Saboteur puts it.
So even though Splatter finds himself on this side because he was going to turn on Shylock, he is now a de facto face in many ways because he is trying to avenge the deaths of two individuals... although most fans don't know the inside story, and still support Shylock at the arenas.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And that is an alternate ending that will never fly, but I think would still have been an interesting "what if" scenario.
