CPC/PoW Newbie Guide

OK, I just finished reading the character descriptions (haven't got to the 2122 book yet, purposefully, so this shouldn't have any spoilers) and I have a few questions on CPC history... I've never really got that far playing, and don't have any of the sets, but as I feel like I just read part 3 of a 5 part story, I thought y'all would help me out

1) So I get the True Way is a cult type religion, with Talilsman as the head, but others trying to split off.. is this the GWF equivelant of Sunni's and Shi'ia? (that's the vibe I get) I assume at some point they were one big happy family? What happened to split them, just Talisman being too messiah-like or something else?

2) Exo-King went crazy, seems like? If that was a result of his robotics, what about the other Court guys?

3) Was there an in-game reason for the no groups thing, or was it more a creative decision.

4) It seems like alot of CPC guys have come in and out of the fed... is that true?

5) I guess Terak is gone finally... but Gila and Mollock are still around... what happened to him in the end?


That's all for the moment... I figure others getting CPC for the first time will add more

Talisman was at fault.

2) Exo-King went crazy, seems like? If that was a result of his robotics, what about the other Court guys?
DK disappeared so we don't know. KQ got rid of his and apparently it didn't bother him too much (or maybe you just couldn't tell the difference)

Yes

Dr. Barnabas got rid of him IIRC.

Mark could probably answer this best, but I'll give it a shot.

There were some in the True Way (including Absalom, Indigo and now Raze) who believed that Talisman 'hijacked' their religion and turned something that was beautiful and twisted it for his own purposes.

Like Troy said, Queen had the parts removed, and we haven't heard from DK. The ultimate cause of his problems is heavy metal poisoning if I recall correctly.

There was an in-game reason. Euritar came in as a loner, and told President Prodigy that he didn't need a team to succeed. Prodigy liked the concept, and disbanded all teams... and managed to still find a way to screw over Euritar. See the 2121 booklet for more on this.

I'd say that more GWF characters have left in the past 5 years, but that's just speculation. Someone could do the count.

Terak turned on the Savage Kingdom and managed the Species team (their arch-enemies). Raven was the top star on Species. They stuck together until Raven decided that Terak was dead weight, and brought in Dr Barnabas to replace him. They unceremoniously kicked him to the curb, which is what also happened to Raven when Barnabas decided that he'd outlived his usefulness to him.

I'm diving into P.O.W., but I have a question...

How do managers come into effect during MMA matches? Are they pretty much non existent due to the set up of the ring? I couldn't find info for it in the cards. Thanks!

It was mentioned before that they aren't really a factor, IIRC.

I plan to consider them trainer/corner men (I.e like Ken Shamrock, or the Gracies) and will used them for interviews at times, but they won't effect the match in any way.

Yeah, for the moment, they're just cornermen/trainers. Turkish and I do plan to institute additional things like training charts and such, but we just wanted to get the basics out there first so that people could digest things slowly rather than gorge themselves and have to purge later.

I did this with managers in my MMA fed a couple of years ago. Each manager would grant his wrestlers a 'training bonus' similar to the Mesmer/Phantast bonuses on their last cards.

Bonuses would be something like:
-Automatically win first initiative roll.
-Automatically kick out of first pin attempt.
-Bonus to power (lasts until fatigue).
-Bonus to agility (lasts until fatigue).
-Bonus to finisher first time it's used.
-Automatically counter first attack.

They were all small bonuses that could help a certain wrestler. My LOW manager, Street Reaper, uses a chart on his card where you randomly roll one of the above, but one bonus for each manager could work well, and some promoters may end up shuffling their rosters to get just the right combinations.

Just an idea if you find it useful.

Yeah, I remember that, Street Reaper? Wasn't it? Very cool mechanics and believe it or not, it did make the matches a bit more interesting when he tried to help his wrestlers.

The POW sounds more and more interesting as things go along.

Yeah I got the idea from Mesmer and Phantast and just made it the result of training instead of magic.

I'm currently debating on whether to get the MMA set or both. I'd probably only play MMA matches, though I'd like wrestler cards for a couple of the guys, in case I'd like to have different kinds of matches (I'm thinking of bringing Ahnu, my favorite CPC guy, back to SAGA).
