I like reading the CPC segment. I play Legends and although I have the GWF series from 2087 -2100, there was a spell where I didn't play and was just collecting. I do regret not playing along. From reading the forums here I get the feeling that out of the GWF, ACE and CPC that the CPC is most like normal wrestling or isn't as sci-fi futuristic as the others. This is what attracts me to the game, I like the emphasis to be on characters and wrestling. I'm I right? Is it more 'human' like? It would be nice if there was a package where you could purchase all the characters you needed in one set and even better would be to have it in COTG-ONLINE, that to me seems only fair. Also is it true or not that the CPC will continue? It's just that I'm constantly reading it in someplace or other over these forums.

I will if it makes it ONLINE. I do enjoy the GWF too, I'm actually getting into certain sci-fi aspects, just the other day I was enjoying a few different matchups with Monad who has 4 arms. I'm going to read the whole storyline of each of those early manuals, I've not actually got a COTG fed running at the moment.

Hey PressSlam,
Glad to hear that you like it to be "all about the wrestling," at least some of the time. Me too. As the writer of the CPC sets, I've always likened Tom's approach with the GWF to something like an epic Marvel comic book series, Kris Osk's aCe to the sagas like Star Wars where good and evil are starkly contrasted initially with lines blurred as the plot thickens, and my way of doing things to the old ECW mentality of the fans driving the performers to greater heights. Maybe a better analogy would be the old Crockett Promotions days of the mid-to-late '80s, my personal favorite era of wrestling.
One thing that I've implemented with the most recent set, Cataclysm 2121, is the destruction of the team-based feuds and reducing feuds to just autonomous singles and tag teams. It definitely gives it a different feel than CPC or aCe, more of an "anything goes" approach where hero and villain isn't important. I like it a lot!
We've also got a mixed-martial arts element of sorts in the Outlaw Fight Club (OFC) matches. No out of the ring, and you have to knock your opponent out, make him submit, or it goes to a decision. Some competitors are better at these matches than others.
The focus in the CPC is on wrestling, for sure, but that's not to say that there aren't sci-fi elements, too. We've got Crucible, who normally is a jobber but has a mechanic on his card whereby he can hypnotize his opponent into a "State of Fear" which makes Crucible a real force to be reckoned with. There are others, but I'll hold off on a dissertation on every character.
As of right now, I've been told (and have no reason to doubt it) that when the next CPC set is released, probably in the fall sometime (November would be a good guess), the CPC will be part of COTG Online exclusively, as aCe will be. I'm really excited about the prospects this holds for advancing the fed.
So if you want to wait until the fall for the (presumed) release of CPC 2122 on COTG Online, by all means, gear up for it and we'll see you there!

So, does that mean that future aCe and CPC editions will only be available online? I'm kind of confused whether sets released for COTGOnline will be exclusively online, or if they are also available in their original paper format.
Sorry - I'm so 15th century when it comes to my love of moveable type!

GWF will always be available on Paper, as will LOW. There will probably be other releases on paper in the future, like Promoter Madness. However, secondary feds like CPC and aCe will move to Online exclusives. GWF and hopefully one day LOW will be on online as well, but not exclusivly.
Make sense?

Yes, but not having a paper option for game editions is something I'm not too happy about.

Thanks for that post Mark. Your obviously a very creative guy and it's good that your work gets a chance to expand and continue. I'm going to hang on until it makes it to ONLINE. If it's going to come in Novenmber then I'll probably start with the GWF because I do like the 'Marvel' aspect as I did grow up fasinated with Spiderman and co! However I do like the sound of the CPC and it comes through in the comments from the people who post here. I have read up on ACE but it seems a bit too dark for my liking.

I totally see the CPC like the old ECW mixed in with some ROH and UFC. Most off the matched I've had lately in the CPC have been four to five star matches lasting at least twenty minutes. I try to keep the backstage "segments" to a minimum in the CPC and let the story be told in the ring. I'm glad the CPC will be continuing online but will miss the cards. I think I did read somewhere that we will be able to print out the wrestlers on card stock if I'm not mistaken.

Mark- Assuming that 2122 will be the first online CPC set, will you approach writing with a "New Beginings" mindset? i.e. a good jumping on point?

Mark- Assuming that 2122 will be the first online CPC set, will you approach writing with a "New Beginings" mindset? i.e. a good jumping on point? Very interesting question that I look forward to hearing Mark Ashby comment on. A glimpse into the mind behind the CPC if you will. And for the record the CPC is my favorite aspect of the COTG universe for reasons outlined in this thread.

I'll just say that it doesn't alter the "big" storylines I've got going in any way, but it did alter the schedule of updates by a set or two (in a good way, I think).
The attitude I've got is that I'll be potentially writing for many people who haven't yet sampled the CPC for whatever reason, so yes, consider it a New Beginnings mindset if you want, although it probably won't be labeled that way in the set's name. It will definitely be easy for new folks to jump right on in, though.
So come November (or whenever it happens), all aboard this choo-choo train, people! (Can you tell I have little kids?)

Thanks Mark - now I have Quad City DJ's stuck in my head!
Seriously, I love watching the CPC develop. You, Tom and Kris each bring a distinctive flavor to the mix. But I dig your old school tune in next week approach that keeps me hooked on the CPC. Good stuff!

Long as Saboteur returns and we get a few more tag teams, I don't care.
