First I'd like to blow the dust of the mma section that just straight up died. (Feels like the bodog of mma forums).
Sadly the most recent of news in mma was Kimbo Slices recent lost on NBC to Seth from ultimate fighter season 2.
Kimbo's lost a fight to a man who gave up around 30 pounds and was a wash out on a reality tv show.
Now I'm not hear to gloat like i I did over Prides bloated corpse.
To easy.
I'm here to lend my insight. It's sadly put not over. Kimbo's lose (if you listen to all the know it all experts) is the sirens call to the death knell on Elite XC.
Oh please. Kimbo slice is Elite xc stab at making a modern day Tank abbot. For those of you who watched the sport back in the day... did Tank's fans go away after a lose? or 2? or 3?
No... this won't be the end of it. Kimbo sadly put doesn't even need to get better or face better fighters. He just needs to get exciting knock outs and the casual fan won't know the difference.

The thing is, he doesn't get exciting knockouts. The Cantrell and Abbott fights looked more like fixes than exciting knockouts and the Thompson stoppage was a joke. Three fights against three cans and none were exciting. People want to try to make the comparison to Tyson with Slice in that he's the big scary black man that everyone wants to see whip somebodies ass. The difference is, Slice is not whipping anybodies ass. Will people still tune in to watch him, yes. Will they watch an event because he's the main event, probably not. He can still be on the card but he'd better not be the main event until he gets some of these "exciting" knock outs and actually beats a credible opponent.

I think they still have a main event with Shamrock.. hell, Shamrock might even beat him.
I'd really like to see that... for all his fault, he deserves a win to end his career on.

in all honesty do you really think Ken will take the win and run? I doubt he's that smart.
It's like when he beat Kimo, he thought he was ready for a rematch with Tito. If Ken wins we can look forward to Ken trying to milk his dead career longer... maybe a fight with Frank Shamrock.,,, and I can't say I really wanna see a fight where win, or lose i have to listen to Shamrock gloat.
Kimbo has some factor that seems to equal ratings. He's a freak show in the states for at least right now seems to work. I don't like it, but it is what it is.
Who else is Elite gonna use? Robbie Lawler when he was the main event didn't bring in the ratings and Jake Shields for all his talent isn't exactly the kind of guy who puts asses in the seats.

I do not blame Kimbo in this: He knows how not good he is. But in a four month time frame, he made a minimum 750K for two fights.
You gonna turn that down?
Me either.
