Was talking to Dark Turkey about this. Seems strikers have a big advantage in POW. Reason being is that they can get back to Level 1 Offense on any "Hurt-2" or "Dazed-1" on Level 3 Defense. In other words it is very hard for a grappler to keep and control a fighter on the ground. In a real fight it is very difficult to get back to your feet after getting taken down. To reflect this, I've come up with an escape chart. Use your Grappling Chart rating for your Escape Chart rating. Use this chart whenever the fight is on the ground (Opponent is on Level 3 Offense) and you roll a "Dazed-1" or "Hurt-2" on Level 3 Defense.

Cool chart.
The main reason strikers have a huge advantage is the simple fact that there are more moves on a card (both on L1O and L3O) that lead to a knockout than there are to a submission. So unless the submission ratings are really potent, most grapplers are not going to be as strong as a good striker.
That said, this chart still helps to increase the probability that a fighter would roll a submission move, which in turn would increase the probability that the defensive fighter would roll a KO/SUB, so this chart is still pretty cool.

Just to note Chewster, that your fighter's "mounted Punches -3" takes the fighter's Grappling/ ground offensive rating, not striking.
Curt I will look at these and give you some feedback in a day or two.

Thanks for the feedback. This chart just gives the ground guys more of a chance to hold their opponent down and get something going. With that said it does slow the action a bit (as it tends to in real life). To enforce even more ground action I will be revising the Clinch and Grappling charts so that there is no stand ups.

OH I like the ref break ups. Realism at it's finest! I feel ya. Im kind of purist at heart. Though it adds entertainment I would rather there be no stand ups. Plus it'll give my poor grapplers a chance.

I think the standups are good. With your chary for sweeps, I think it'll even things out.
Some flow bvetween levels is good. I think now there is too much. But I like the stand ups because of lay and pray.
BUt the game mechanic does not have the "lulls" in the fight, so the stand ups at least give the poor grappler a chance to get out of harms way.
I would fear with out them it would look like the UFC's of yesteryear.

And the Kenny/ Severn "Fight/ Square dance" Man I paid for that one and had some friends come over to sell them on the UFC. Yeah, didnt work out so well. So you were right about keeping the stand ups in the clinch and grappling charts. It helped keep the action flowing better.

another thing to keep in mind is that with POW, most of these guys are going to have a wrestling background, so we do not want to give the Strikers or clinchers no chance at all.

I play tested a full card and the action felt pretty balanced. It added a little more excitement knowing that a takedown was a big deal. Had a few fights where one guy was dominating on the feet, then taken down and the momentum shifted.
