What did y'all think?
I'm a huge fan of the comic, and I really liked it... Downey was perfect for the part, and they kept it close enough to the comic to not aggravate me.

I saw it last week. I would rate it high as a fanboy...higher as a general moviegoer. Seems like they hit a great balance between keeping things to canon and enjoyable to the general audiance. As a side-note...there is a short scene at the end that is probably worth staying for. I knew about it and waited for it. The ending titles must be ten minutes long. An older couple beside me waited...watching all the ending credits...making comments...and got up an left 'seconds' before the final scene. One hint...the final scene involves (evolves) the Avengers. (bad vid...but best I could find)... Downey did great...you may be aware that Downey changes race dematically in his next picture. Thumbs up to Bridges as well. One question...I know Pepper pursued Tony...but, I got the sense that Tony was never 'into her'. Is that correct. Thumbs up...NOW, GO SEE THIS PICTURE! Graymar

Do you mean in the comic?
Pepper was his Secretary for a long while.. they had a brief 'thing'.. IIRC, she left him as he was self-destructing into alcohol (could be wrong about that though..it's been a while since I read that era). She ends up marrying Happy Hogan (who was shown for about 5 seconds in the movie as the limo driver.. he was occasionally a major character in the comic)... this is late 60s, early 70s. I actually like Mrs. Abrogast more as his secretary.. but she was likely too matronly for the movie.
I think they had another brief thing more recently while Pepper was on the outs with Happy, but I think they're a happy couple again, though I am somewhat behind in the current stuff (my guess is Tony Stark is so prominent in the major Marvel storylines these days he's supporting cast isn't really a factor)

Iron Man is just as good as the last Batman movie in my opinion. As close to 4 stars out of 4 stars that I give movies. You don't need to know anything about the comic book character and you will still dig it.
If there will be any comic book movie that does great at the Oscars, why not this one? Downey and Bridges were both perfection in their roles. I am surprised that Paltrow was satisfied with her role. I would be equally surprised if she returns in the next movie.
Great humor. Mind dizzying special effects. And a nice updated tale of Iron Man.
I don't much care to see any movie twice at the theater, but this one I would be happy to pay my dinars and watch again.

I thought it was decent and I was glad that Downey did a good job I wasn't sure what to think about him playing Tony Stark at first. I know Iron man isn't the most well known marvel hero but can you believe that one of my female co workers actually thought he was one of the power rangers. I almost choked on my lunch when she made that comment

I will admit I'm not into comics that much. But my older brother helps me on info. As a non-fanboy I felt the movie was funny and great. I personally can't wait for the Hulk. The times I have had time to read comics it was Hulk, Lobo, Punisher, and Walking Dead. Personally waiting for a Lobo movie but then again who would be a hero in that . Anyway it's a good year to be a fan of comics of any kind.
