I would've taken the challenge, but looks like Jeff beat me to it! heehee. Ah vell, that's the breaks.
as for the topic, I think all the artists mentioned here do a terrific job, even Jeremy. The thing with art, is there just doesn't seem to be a "wrong" way to do it! Art is art, some is more stylized than others, some are a little rough (more like abstract), but either way, it's all a matter of choice and what ppl interpet it to be!
I guess I can't complain, when I do my art, I just do the best at what ppl want, and if I don't achieve it, I try again! guess that's more important to me! Great topic! Ray

Some people excel at posing, some at clothing, some at expressions, some at design, some at storytelling with a picture, some with anatomy, some with perspective, some with forshortning, some with backgrounds, some with props, some with texture, some with inking.............. Maybe you can see where I'm going. There's a lot of things you need to be good at to be a good artist/illustrator. All a guy can do is take his criticisms and tackle the problem area.
I used to totally suck at perspective, hair, clothing, anatomy (let's not start another list) and over the years (the last handful in particular) I've gotten better. That's why I'm working on my posing. Sometimes it's difficult coming up with poses from people's descriptions, they can't all be "hands folded on chest" poses or "double pumping fists". That's where paying attention to what other people are doing helps and I need to do more of that.

Truth? Diamond is the man. Mueck is almost the man, and would be the man if Diamond wasn't the man already.
I don't know about Jeremy Su's artwork. To me, everyone looks sort of...the same. I like the other guys' ability to make characters stand out, like you couldn't switch art and characters if you felt like it. But that's just me. And hey, he's a million times better than I could do.

I'm willing to take second place in manliness to Jeff. You know, when you put it that way, it sounds a lot more creepy and Golddusty...

Another thought I had was a combo art team on the next set, Jeff Diamond and Werner Mueck. Each one would do 6 characters, it would be nice to see two sides of the bootleg artists in one set. I know the CPC has not been around long, but another artist change is needed and I would like to see Jeff and Werner have a shot at drawing CPC characters for a spell. I kinda like this idea but I do like Su as well. I think the problem is that the artist burns out if he draws too many characters at one time. So if the work is spread out to others going into one set then maybe all the art work would be amazing. Just my 2 cents....

I do art and characters as well but only can seem to do ones for myself, like Kaz has done. I dont see myself taking on commisions because I find it hard to come up with other's ideas when it comes to art work... now if you want a website or design then I am your man.

Well, I'm a fan of Werner, Jeff and Jeremy. They've all done some awesome drawings over the years. I think that Werner did a good job explaining all the different things that an artist needs to be "good at" and I'd add one thing as it relates to COTG- how well the artist works with the writer. Sometimes it's just a simple matter of chemistry. I've done a lot of work with Werner, and I know that if I give him a certain direction with some creative freedom, I can trust that he'll probably take the character in the direction that I want.
Perhaps Jeremy and Mark just don't have that chemistry.... I'd think so since Jeremy has done some good work with Kris and Tom. The burnout theory might be valid too, especially if he's working on CPC stuff at the last minute.
