And while I'm bumping this, I'd like to mention that this poll is totally irrelevant now. I'm proud that my poll was the kick in the butt that the Cubs needed to become the hottest team in the National League. ;D

The greatest thing about this thread and the poll is that despite the fact that the Pirates are still below .500 they are nowhere to be found on the list or in the posts. That was while we were still talking about bad teams. Now as is the norm we're onto more fun topics.

better a Pirates fan than a Reds fan this season. man do the Reds blow... even though Baseball Prospectus has them in the upper half of the current adjusted standings (which means that they should be winning more games than they are, but are plagued by one-run losses).
but then, at least I have my Red Sox to follow this season while the Reds management continues to try to figure out what to do.

Do you think Griffey will be staying or going back to Seattle?

Do you think Griffey will be staying or going back to Seattle? I think Griffey might get traded this year and he will at some point come back to Seattle (on a pregame interview I heard earlier this season before Cincinnati played at Seattle, Griffey said he intends to retire as a Mariner). But I really don't think Griffey is coming back to Seattle this particular year. I think Seattle is looking more toward upgrading their starting rotation through any possible trades and it is more likely Griffey goes to someone like the Chicago Cubs if he gets traded this year.

Griffey won't get traded this season, and I think the talk about him going to Seattle is drawn out of proportion. When he played in Seattle, he said he missed Seattle, and when reporters asked if he'd ever return, he gave a polite answer. People are reading too much into it, it's not like he could have said "no, I hated this place" or anything like that.
As for Griffey to the Cubs, I still say it's not likely he'll get traded, but BDS... who would you give us for him?

Matt Murton and Sean Marshall ... cheap production from a corner outfield spot and a good starting pitcher

I think it was more than a polite answer that Griffey gave earlier this season during the Reds series here in Seattle when a reporter asked him if he would ever return. Griffey's exact words were "I think I owe it to the people of Seattle to retire as a Mariner." Granted that could turn out just to mean that Griffey might just sign a token one day contract to retire officially as a Mariner rather than playing for them again. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that Griffey will be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a Mariner instead of as a Red or any other team he might play for before his career ends.

He could have said he loved the M's or he loved playing in Seattle but like Vegas said, he said "I think I owe it to the people of Seattle to retire as a Mariner". It's easy to believe a statement like that (for me anyway). I'll keep my fingers crossed.
