This is kind of continuing on from another post I made elsewhere.
I always kept quiet about the amount of flack the ROH message board gets. As a member of the board I never understood why it is hated. I usually read some of the posts but mainly check it for the news items and pick 'ems. After reading everyone's opinions I never really noticed why the board would get so much criticism. That was until the last few weeks. For others who do not understand where the ROH board hate comes from, the following posts offer a brief explanation. This was taken from a topic where the first poster complained about ROH now having 5 factions. Why did he complain? Here's another guy's explanation...

People bitched when BJ Whitmer cut his damn hair. It's ridiculous over there.

Maybe thats why the board is locked? Ive tried to sign up for months and they are never taking new members. I figure its because that board is really slow as it is. Try going on it a night of a event it moves like tar. Ive seen you post a couple of times on it though Knapik.

Ironically the people who fervently discuss a topic of interest the most...tend to become it's most vocal detractors. Critical discourse on the most minute microanalytic of issues often replaces the larger appeal which drew viewership to a website in the first place...a shared commonality of interest in 'something' that all readily appreciate and agree upon in principle. It's all too common that the vibe tends to become eerily 'negative' as the conversation becomes more and more abstract...and the larger readership...who's interest is more casual and diversified...grows disaffected with the culture that was supposed to further inform their interest. This is definitely not limited to the topic of pro wres...it's a phenomena one will often find with regards to a myriad of areas. The best solution is to focus on whatever value you do find...while making an effort to become someone who contributes productively in line with your own ideals...which would ideally elevate the value found on the board for others...and hopefully inspire others to contribute likewise. Or you could just find another outlet...which when done in mass leads to the decline of a message board (and many times it's outright death).
