Chillin' here with some barbeque and ROH IN JAPAN! Eff yeah! I'm watching the Osaka show first and tonight I'm going to check out the Tokyo show. I'll post my review as I see the matches!
ROH 7/17/07 OSAKA
Nice opening, the Japanese crowd is really bright and picks up on stuff even though they can't understand every word Danielson is saying. Danielson/CIMA/Marufuji on a team? AWESOME. The crowd was hot for the Marufuji/CIMA handshake.
Jimmy Rave calls out someone in the locker room and The Briscoes come out Genki Horiguchi from Dragon Gate joins Jimmy Rave for a tag team title match! For those who don't know, Genki Horiguchi is one of the best junior heavyweights in the world has the one of the coolest finishers IN THE WORLD. It's called the Backslide From Hell - Genki hits his opponent in the groin then goes for a backslide pin. Pretty sweet.
Really strange seeing ROH in front of a mature, quiet crowd haha. You could hear a pin drop in between spots. I'm used to the ROH crowd trying to get themselves over at any point in the match. That being said, when I'm in NYC I'll be as loud as anyone haha.
Horiguchi's new look is way cooler than his old one.
Wish they'd always using this ring apron. It's classy.
Not really into the match too much. Spike J-Driller on Rave looks nasty and ends the match. Sucks the belts got lost by the airlines, I love to see The Briscoes wearing them. The crowd seems pretty pleased by the action so far as they clap to "Give Me Back My Bullets". Mark seemingly gets better with every month. I love his kung fu stuff haha. The Japanese crowd didn't get it.
Nigel McGuinness vs. BJ Whitmer next. Don't remember seeing these guys 1 on 1 against each other, should be a good one. McGuinness is a regular in NOAH and the crowd obviously recognizes him.
I HATE that people dog on Whitmer. He's is VERY bad on the mic, but I think he has a good character and puts on good matches. He's holding his own against Nigel right now.
Japan loves Jack Evans. Evans has these little things where he shows us things around Japan. Evans just denounced his American citizenship out of love for Japan! BY GAWD!
Strong vs. Evans - Strong is killing Jack, dang. The crowd is behind Jack and they ooh and aah at his moves. Jack is really on tonight and has done some cool stuff. This was a really good match, and I really didn't know who was going to win. Evans wins with a weak 630, but good match. Old Japanese guy wearing a white collared shoot tie, and glasses gives the double five to Jack haha.
6-Man tag - Delirious, Naruki Doi, and Masato Yoshino vs, Matt Sydal, Dragon Kid, and Ryo Saito. The crowd absolutely loves Delirous... seriously this guy will be over wherever he goes. Matter of time before he's in the 'E' IMO. Sydal and Delirious have a great dynamic together. Sydal wins with the Sydal Press on Delirious! Sydal needs a new theme song.
Mark Briscoe doesn't wash his clothes, he just sprays them with some generic Fabreze he found in some hotel! HAHA!
I'll watch the last third later
