Sudden Death 2113-4: JeffT
SUDDEN DEATH 2113-2114
SUDDEN DEATH 2113-2114 would mark the third time ever the GWF would feature teams and individuals battling it out with the goal banishing others from the sport. Over the two years the feuds would change and the stakes would differ for each. Heroes would battle heroes and villains would fight villains, culminating in the ultimate conflict for the control of the GWF itself!
SUDDEN DEATH 2113
Both the Hero and Villain Teams would fight amongst themselves in 2113. The Heroes would battle each other to determine the means and the philosophy by which they would operate for the years to come. It would pit the teams proposing a noble and honorable direction against those who preferred justice by any manner necessary. For the Villains it was a simple conflict for power and control. Mandrill was in one corner, backed by Mangus and Murdok. The new Aethran Minister of War, Vengeance was in the opposite corner, supported by Doomsayer and Anarchy.
Main Storylines of 2113:
The Rise of Cordanus: Cordanus makes several strategic moves to help increase his stranglehold over the GWF. First, he declares 2113 and 2114 to be Sudden Death years with the Heroes and Villains feuding internally to decide the direction each side will take in the future. However, his Takeover team will not be involved as they are ‘above’ the other groups, thus ensuring he will grow stronger while everyone else thrashes each other. Then he brings the dark mystic Mesmer back into the fold as an ‘insurance’ policy. Cordanus gives a very vague explanation of Mesmer’s ‘duties’, but Phantast knows he will be using his dark sorcery to assist Takeover and vows to prevent it. Additionally, he made an agreement with Krakan - The HitMen For Hire would be the official bodyguards for the Takeover team. Finally, the megalomaniacal Mensan adds the talented Euritar to his faction, totally disregarding the fact that he was under contract to Reynard B. Guile. Unfortunately, his arrogance didn’t end there. He made several more controversial and infuriating decisions such as firing Johnny Rocket for asking questions he didn’t like and banning Reynard B. Guile for life after Guile slapped him for stealing Euritar. He even spit on sacred tradition by moving the GWF’s opening festivities and press conferences from Deimos to the Stasslar Theater on his home planet and changing the Deimos Perennial to the Mensa Perennial.
The Most Loyal Aethran Of Them All – For his assistance with the murder of Massacre, Vengeance agreed to give Doomsayer a top Aethran warrior in 2113. At first only known as ‘P3’ (the third best Aethran warrior at the time), he was named Rampage in a ceremony on Aethra, but Doomsayer renamed him Evolution before he entered the Transevolver. He dumped Doomsayer upon realizing that the evil scientist was originally unhappy about only receiving a P3. He then rejected Vengeance, accusing him of ‘selling out’ and being a traitor. He then publicly declared his loyalty to Spike as Minister of War and disappeared. He resurfaced during the Villain Team Press Conference, again rejecting Doomsayer and Vengeance both. He finally joined Mandrill’s Colonizer Team for protection against the two groups he’d now made enemies out of and gave himself a new name….Disaster.
Team Feuds:
Takeover vs. The Out-Group
FDF vs. The Fighting Titans
The Avenging Warriors vs. The Ramparts
Bloody Revenge vs. The RocketMen
The Colonizers of Aethra vs. The Gladiators of Aethra
Murdok’s World vs. Transevolver
Brymstone Burning vs. The Alien Connection
HitMen For Hire (independents; official bodyguards of Takeover)
2113 Newcomers:
Disaster: An awesome and dangerous fighter when he originally left Aethra, a trip through the Transevolver has turned Disaster into an incredible wrecking machine. He boasts incredible power and a dangerous assortment of moves. His finisher is RAMPAGE, a face-first choke slam that can be devastating if he hits it right.
Atman: This newcomer is like no other professional wrestler in history. He is calm, quiet, and meditative. He comes to the GWF merely to improve himself spiritually and is not interested in wins and losses. He respects other fighters but wants no allegiances. He is an excellent technical wrestler and incredibly focused, so much so that he has an incredible ability to adapt his fighting style to the strengths and weaknesses of his opponents. His finisher, THE THIRD EYE, is as strange as he is. He applies a nerve hold while simultaneously staring his opponent which causes paralysis!
The Creatures of Lamia: This is a new tag team from Brymstone. Cyclopes is an awesome giant with one eye. This ugly, mindless brute is possibly the largest wrestler in the history of the GWF. He is dimwitted and slow, but he has unmatched power and is nearly impossible to harm or take down to the mat. Most of his offense is clumsy, but he has three crushing finishers to use when his opponent is in trouble. First, there’s the MONSTER ELBOW SLAM, then the CYCLOPES POWER SLAM – normal moves amplified by his size and power. Finally, the UNMOVABLE OBJECT is a big splash with the potential to be the greatest finisher ever, but there’s a good chance he’ll miss it. His partner is the small, toad-like creature known as Turge. He has very little wrestling skills, but is a sneaky and dirty fighter. His main advantage, though, is that he also seems to be the only person who can control and speak with Cyclopes.
Other New Standard Cards:
Overkill: Bad news for the rest of the GWF’s Tag Team division – Overkill has finally received his Cleansing. He’s tougher and more destructive than before, if that’s possible. He’s also totally focusing his skills on tag team competition. He’s got a double-team move called Double Impact (double flying shoulder tackle off the ropes) and he and Malice have renamed their finisher. It’s now called AETHRAN SUPREMACY.
Prodigy: Age and poor lifestyle have caught up to Prodigy now and he’s definitely lost a step. He’s also been forced into teaming with his old partner Skinhead to reform Superiority Complex. The problem is that they both hate each other.
Alter Ego: Wrestling has certainly seen its share of strange Tag Teams, but this combination might be the strangest of all. Buck Steele/Genocide couldn’t stand sharing the same body and Doomsayer offered a trip through the Transevolver to split them into separate bodies. Unfortunately, things didn’t work quite as expected as Buck’s mind ended up in the Genocide’s body and vice versa. Now we have Hyper and Genocide. Hyper has Genocide’s mind in Buck Steele’s body and he is definitely not happy about it. He’s got a wild and extreme style that doesn’t take into account his new smaller, weaker body. He has two finishers whose names describe them perfectly, SLINGSHOT INTO RING POST and BERSERK POUNDING ASSAULT. Meanwhile, Buck Steele’s mind inhabited Genocide’s body and Buck couldn’t be happier. He’s kept the Genocide name and enjoys being so powerful now. The only drawback is that his old skills don’t mesh well with his new physical prowess. He has a finisher called SPINAL TAP (submission backbreaker) and also a tag finisher known as INNER TURMOIL (backward head slam by Genocide then a flying elbow from Hyper). To make matters worse, the two don’t seem to be getting along too well.
Colonizer Empire: Vendetta and Nefarus have stepped it up a notch now that they will be feuding with Malice and the new Overkill. They’ve sharpened their skills and timing as a team and even added some great double-team moves as well. Vendetta still uses EMPIRE TRIUMPHANT and has added another tag finisher named the COLONIZER DROPKICK (hammerlock by Vendetta then a missile dropkick from Nefarus). The new finisher requires excellent timing though so there’s a chance the opponent will move with Nefarus hitting his partner. Nefarus still uses his SCISSORDRIVER but he’s added a tag move called The Pain Zone (leg kick by Nefarus into a clothesline from Vendetta).
Special Edition Cards:
Avalanche: Johnny Rocket recruited this 500 pound mountain of a man from Cloneworld. He made a big impression in his first appearance by attacking Paragon with a powerbomb onto the floor during a press conference. He will be the enforcer on Rocket’s team, which fits his mean and aggressive personality just fine. Unfortunately, overconfidence is also one of his personality traits as well. It shows through most clearly with his FIVE COUNT finisher. It’s a big splash off the ropes, but when he covers his opponent he demands a five count from the ref instead of the normal 3 count. Avalanche is a key SE card as his character is directly involved in 2113 storylines and this is the only way you can get him.
Vengeance: Slight stat changes for the new Aethran Minister of War.
Mesmer: Mesmer surreptitiously uses his magic to help the members of Takeover or to impair their opponents.
Phantast: The wise and honorable Phantast knows precisely why Mesmer is here and aims to stop him anywhere he tries to break the rules. He will assist in any match Mesmer gets involved in, which even includes helping the Villains. Phantast strongly believes that magic doesn’t belong in wrestling. He will counter or disrupt Mesmer’s sorcery, but he won’t directly aid or injure a wrestler.
