CPC 2105-8: David Morse

The CPC storyline highlighted the attempt by Magnus Colby and Sonora Pelf to take over the GWF. Over a period of four years, the wealthy duo established their own rival wrestling organization, the Colby/Pelf Corporation, and worked to gain control of professional wrestling. The CPC 2105-2108 game editions trace this saga from its inception, the roots of which were planted during Sudden Death in 2103-2104, to its conclusion with the full separation of the GWF and CPC into distinct federations.

CPC 2105 GAME EDITION

Sudden Death 2103-4 Results Announced

Winning teams and individuals from Sudden Death were the Champions of the Galaxy, Genesis and Wolf, the Gladiators of Aethra, No Fear, W. A. R., The Fighting Titans, the Savage Kingdom, Jack of Diamonds, Killer Queen, and Dynamo.

Banished for two years as a result of Sudden Death were Mesmer, Tocsin, Splatter, Vanity, Zouave, Scourge, Cycle Hog, Holocaust, Mad Jester.

Bishop Hell was forced to retire from the GWF as a result of Sudden Death.

The Big News: CPC Master Plan Revealed

Magnus Colby and Sonora Pelf shocked the GWF in early 2105 by revealing that they had legally created their own wrestling federation, the CPC. The new organization would establish and support its own championships and would promote its own matches.

However, its roster would overlap with the GWF, allowing wrestlers to compete in both organizations. The first commissioner of the CPC was Reynard B. Guile

2105 Rookie Class:

Vendetta—Like his tag team partner Nefarus, Vendetta is a native of Omicron but has chosen to betray the Genesis team and join the Colonizers. The Omicron event has enhanced his already impressive strength, making him one of the most physically imposing men in the GWF. The name of his tag team with Nefarus is Rebel Empire. For his singles finisher, THE BIG FALL, Vendetta lifts his opponent for an overhead press and then clotheslines him on the top turnbuckle. He and Nefarus have also developed a tag finisher, EMPIRE TRIUMPHANT, for which Vendetta puts the opponent on his shoulders and Nefarus comes off the top turnbuckle for a DDT.

Blade—Blade is the younger brother of Crossfire, who was killed in the ring by Blazing Skull in late 2102. Blade has come to the GWF to gain revenge on the wrestler who caused his brother’s death. He will form a tag team with Talisman called The Centaurians and will challenge the Brymstone team called the Lower World. Blade’s finisher, the SWITCHBLADE KICK, is a falling spinwheel kick off the top turnbuckle.

Erebus—Maleph has brought Erebus to the GWF from Brymstone as a tag team partner for Death’s Head. The duo will call themselves the Lower World. Like his partner, Erebus is a pure brawler with little technical wrestling skill. He and Death’s Head have a tag finisher, SKULLWORKS, which involves double falling head butts from opposite turnbuckles on the downed opponent.

Other New Cards for 2105:

Mandrill—The Colonizer leader has become even more imposing, increasing his agility and developing several new moves. He still uses his MUTANT MAULER finisher, but he has now also added the COLONIZER CLAW SLAM, for which he picks up his opponent with a face claw and then slams him to the mat.

Sentry—Tocsin has been banished from wrestling for two years after Sudden Death, but that does not prevent him from becoming the Colonizers’ new bodyguard. He had been renamed Sentry, and as a bodyguard he brings a stun gun to ringside in order to protect his teammates. The stun gun also gives him additional methods for interfering in matches.

Prodigy—Prodigy has left tag team wrestling behind, breaking away from Superiority Complex and joining the CPC as a high-flying singles star. He will compete for the CPC’s new cruiserweight title. His new finisher, THE PERFECT SINGLES FINISHER, is a lightning fast rollup executed when the opponent is on his knees.

Soldier of Fortune— The old pro Soldier of Fortune is beginning to see his abilities slip. His trips through the Transrevolver seem to have finally taken their toll, and his in-ring skills have diminished considerably.

Dragonmaster—Now entering his twenty-first year in the GWF, Dragonmaster is showing signs of age. His skills have suffered a noticeable decline, though he and Rising Sun still make a potent tag team as Titan Fury.

Commissioner Guile—Reynard B. Guile has left managing to become the commissioner of the CPC. He claims to be fair and impartial, but his decisions clearly reflect a bias in favor of those wrestlers who have aligned themselves with the CPC rather than the GWF.

Star Warrior—The GWF legend has now retired from wrestling and will focus on managing the Champions of the Galaxy, as Omega has retired from the GWF.

Dreadnaught—Another trip through the Transrevolver has returned much of Dreadnaught’s former wrestling ability. No one yet knows how long this recovery of his skills will last.

Death’s Head—A new drawing and minor changes to make Death’s Head a better tag wrestler.

Maxine Babe—New artwork for Maxine as she joins the Rocketmen.

New Match: Zero Gravity Platform Match

This match takes place on a floating platform over a zero-gravity field. The object is to throw one’s opponent off the platform and to keep him floating outside the ring for a ten count.

New Game Charts

Updates to major game charts, including into the ropes, out of the ring, deathjump, choice situations, and several new outside interference charts.

Other Major GWF News and Stories in 2105:

Omega announces his retirement. Star Warrior takes over as manager of the Champions of the Galaxy.

At the press conference for Sam’s Stormtroopers, Mesmer and Commando Sam attempt to banish Chaos for the team’s Sudden Death loss. Phantast appears and explains that Mesmer has used a mind-control drug to turn Sam and Massif against Omega. Phantast releases Sam and Massif from Mesmer’s control. Sam announces that he will banish Mesmer rather than Chaos.

Tocsin attacks and seriously injures Vertigo. Commissioner Grogan suspends Tocsin for his actions. Mandrill then announces that Tocsin will be banished because of the Sudden Death loss, making the suspension meaningless. Vertigo’s wrestling ability is permanently diminished.

Cannibal retires from the GWF after Sudden Death loss.

The Colby/Pelf Corporation announces that Bishop Hell, Mad Jester, and Splatter, though they are banished from the GWF, have joined the CPC and will continue to complete on CPC promoted cards.

Johnny Rocket announces that he has signed Dimension X superstar Paragon, a former arch-rival of Chaos, to a contract. The CPC then announces that Paragon has changed his plans and will sign with the CPC, not the Rocketmen. Due to legal complications, Paragon will not arrive in the GWF and the CPC until 2106.

At an unscheduled press conference, both heroes and villains from the GWF—including Star Warrior, Skinhead, Maleph, Archon, Enigma, Johnny Rocket, and even Krakan and Chaos—come together and announce their unified stand against the CPC challenge.

CPC 2106 GAME EDITION

The CPC takeover storyline continued in 2106. Some of the most significant aspects of this edition involved the corruption of the GWF Commissioner’s Office and an attempt by the CPC to recruit Wolf to its side.

2106 Rookie Class:

Paragon—“The Big Man,” as he is called, was Chaos’ primary rival back in Dimension X around 2090. Paragon has now signed with the CPC and is being heralded as the centerpiece of the Penthouse Suite team. Cocky, arrogant, and talented, this newcomer expects to dominate the GWF while renewing his old feud with Chaos. His finisher, FINAL OVERTURE, is a figure-four leglock during which Paragon uses his arm strength to push himself into a standing position and then, if the opponent refuses to surrender, falls backward to the mat, nearly breaking the victim’s legs.

Velar the Great—A female wrestler from the Ara system, Velar joins her countryman Terminus on the CPC roster. She plans to challenge Amazonia for female supremacy in the GWF and CPC. She uses the same HAMMERLOCK SLAM finisher as Terminus.

Lycosa—The small, lightening-quick masked man Lycosa joins the Masked Assassins for 2106. Weighing only 211 pounds, Lycosa is faster than almost any other wrestler in the GWF. His image associates him with spiders. His finisher, BLACK WIDOW’S BITE, is a springboard move for which Lycosa stands on the ring apron and leaps up to propel himself off the top rope for a dropkick.

Other New Cards for 2106:

Chaos—The Alpha Stone has been stolen from Chaos, and the loss of his major weapon has weakened him considerably. Chaos believes the thief to be Paragon, who of course denies any involvement. The giant from Dimension X is still one of the top performers in the GWF, and he still uses his BOW OF DEFEAT finisher, but his strength is clearly diminished without his stone.

Blizzard—Originally released as a part of the Son of Bash game edition, Blizzard now becomes an official part of the Genesis team. The Omicron event left Blizzard with a body made in part of snow and ice. He has a rebellious attitude and a quick temper, both of which contribute to his ICE ATTACK finisher, for which he shoots rock-hard iceballs at his opponent.

Painmaster—Now a singles wrestler after the banishment of Tocsin, Painmaster has become a very strong individual performer for the Colonizer team. He is now able to compete with the best wrestlers in the GWF. He continues to use his TORTURE RACK finisher.

Dark Justice—Confused and frustrated by Commander Sam’s various shifts in attitude, Dark Justice has joined Krakan’s Hitmen and has become a major singles star. As his ability has increased, so has his willingness to break rules. His SHOCK PROBATION finisher has become even more powerful, and he has added the ROD OF JUSTICE, an illegal move in which he smashes his opponent with a metal rod, usually while the referee is distracted.

Vigilante—As happened with his partner Soldier of Fortune in 2105, Vigilante is feeling the effects of age. Although he is clearly slowing down, his tag team with Soldier is still capable of winning matches. He has brought back the LIFE SENTENCE finisher he used as the Galactic Punisher, for which he grabs the opponent in a headlock and rams him into the turnbuckle.

Brainstorm—Conceited and cocky as ever, Brainstorm has made some strides as a wrestler. While still not at the top of the GWF, he has definitely improved his skills in the ring while working with the Rocketmen. His finisher, THE BRAINSTORMER, is a Diamond Cutter performed as he stands back-to-back with his opponent.

Talon—Raven’s cousin Eagle, originally released as part of the GWF Birthday Bash set, has changed his name to Talon, joined the Fighting Titans, and become a much better wrestler. He will form a tag team with Scion Nexus called Titan Gliders. Talon still has a lot to learn, but he is quick enough to give many opponents problems. His finisher, TALON’S PREY, is a dive onto the opponent from the top turnbuckle.

Janus the Overman—A few changes to Janus’ abilities go along with his new artwork.

Vertigo—Vertigo has retired from ring action and become the manager of the Genesis team.

Krakan—Due to an injury suffered in a brutal attack by the Terrorists and the Draconian Sheik, Krakan will spend 2106 in a neck brace, as depicted on this card.

Lord Nexus—Lord Nexus has now fully retired from wrestling to concentrate on managing the Titans.

Special New Chart: Wolf Wildman Chart

Due to the events that took place with Terminus at the CPC Press Conference in early 2106, Wolf and Amazonia have begun randomly attacking other wrestlers, but especially those in the CPC and most especially Terminus and Velar.

Other Major GWF News and Stories in 2106:

The Terrorists reveal their identities. They are former GWF stars Marcel de Sade and Ghengis Khan, and their purpose in the GWF is to get revenge on Krakan and Darkos.

The Alpha Stone is stolen from Chaos in January 2106.

Commissioner Grogan announces that the GWF will recognize the CPC championship belts. Many GWF stars protest the decision, with Star Warrior the most vocal.

The CPC reveals GWF Commissioner Grogan as the new interim CPC Commissioner. Grogan’s selling out to Colby and Pelf explains his decision to recognize the CPC titles in the GWF. The GWF Executive Committee strips Grogan of his power as GWF Commissioner.

The Colby/Pelf Corporation attempts to recruit Wolf to its side at the CPC Press Conference. Wolf considers the offer, but he is then insulted and attacked by Terminus. The incident turns Wolf and Terminus into mortal enemies and sets Wolf on a rampage that will last throughout the year.

Due to injuries suffered at the hands of Tocsin in 2105, Vertigo retires from wrestling and becomes manager of the Genesis team.

The Gladiators of Aethra challenge W. A. R. to a one-year Sudden Death feud in 2106. The entire losing team will be banished from the GWF. Mayhem joins W. A. R. to fight against his fellow Aethrans.

Exo-King, Killer Queen, and Pulsar announce their retirements from GWF action.

CPC 2107 GAME EDITION

The third year of the CPC takeover storyline saw some significant changes in the GWF. Several major stars took the year off from wrestling—either willingly or through banishment—and the CPC continued to draw talent to its ranks, even attempting to recruit the Gladiators and GWF co-founder Morpheus.

2107 Rookie Class:

Desolation Factor—Rack and Ruin, the huge tag team first introduced in the Dimension X Classics game edition, make their entrance into the GWF in 2107. Worse yet, Doomsayer has put the two giants through the Transrevolver, making them even larger and more powerful. In fact, no one other than Overkill and Genocide can match the pure strength of Ruin. Desolation Factor plans to challenge Thunder and Overkill for tag team supremacy. Their finisher, RACKED AND RUINED, is a move for which they place their opponent across both their shoulders, climb onto the bottom rope, and then fall backward onto the victim with crushing force.

Anarchy—The Brymstone team gets larger and more maniacal as Anarchy enters the GWF. Anarchy is a large wrestler and is very difficult to pin. He is also prone to disqualifications, as rules matter very little to him. His finisher, the CRUCIFIX DROP, is a running Razor’s Edge power bomb delivered onto a colorless metal plate that Maleph helps Anarchy slide into the ring. If the referee sees the plate, Anarchy may be disqualified, but a DQ usually just encourages him to do more damage to his opponent.

Other New Cards for 2107:

Blazing Skull—The evil Blazing Skull has removed his skullcap in order to better intimidate and injure opponents. However, he now seems more able to control the fiery blasts from his head, and thus they are no longer life threatening for his opponents. His finisher, DEATH BY FIRE, is simply the release of one of his fire explosions while the referee is distracted. The blasts have three levels of intensity, depending on how badly Skull wants to injure the opponent and how much he wants to risk disqualification and suspension. His newfound control has made many people wonder if Crossfire’s death in 2102 was truly an accident.

Spike—The most popular and perhaps most successful Gladiator in GWF history has returned after a layoff of many years. He is not as quick as he was in his younger days, but he is just as powerful and dangerous. He still uses his MEGADESTROYER finisher.

Colossus—The cyborg Colossus has changed his attitude and joined the CPC. He is still a top level fighter, but he is now convinced that Omega, Star Warrior, and the other heroes were using him for their own purposes, and he plans to take his anger out on them. He has renamed several of his moves, but he still executes them in the same way and still copies the finishers of his opponents.

Gila—Originally introduced as a part of the GWF Birthday Bash game edition, the diminutive Gila has joined the Savage Kingdom on a full-time basis. He turned down an offer from Doomsayer to go through the Transrevolver, and thus he remains the smallest male wrestler in the GWF. His finisher, the GUT CHECK, is an overhead press from which he drops his opponent stomach-first onto his knee.

Karah—Karah was originally released as a part of the Son of Bash Game Edition. Terak has trained him to be a tag team specialist and will now pair him with Wildcat in the team Hunters of Prey. The Hunters have a tag team finisher, the HUNTER’S STRIKE, for which the duo delivers a double dropkick after bouncing off the top rope.

Thantos—The legendary Thantos, manager of the CPC centerpiece team Penthouse Suite, is now more prone to interfering in matches than ever. He is still retired from in-ring action.

Scourge—The one-eyed Scourge has been hired by the CPC as a special referee. His favoritism of CPC wrestlers is made even worse by his limited vision.

New Game Charts

A new cruiserweight out of the ring chart was released as the reverse side of the updated into the turnbuckle chart.

Ringside Companion 2107

The third edition of the CotG Ringside Companion was released in 2107. The handbook includes all of the new matches and special charts released from 2102 to 2106, three new special matches (Cygnus Adamantium Fists Match, Total Anarchy Match, and Scorpi King of the Ring Match), and a new lottery chart for attacks by Splatter and Vyper.

New Special Matches

Cygnus Adamantium Fists—an updated version of the Cygnus Brass Knuckles Match.

Total Anarchy Match—a wild match in which falls count anywhere except in the ring.

Scorpi King of the Ring Match—a match in which one must beat the opponent badly enough to throw him out of the ring and win by countout.

Other Major GWF News and Stories in 2107:

Gladiators defeat W. A. R. in Sudden Death. Raven, Mace, Dreggs, and Mayhem are banished for two years.

Alpha Force takes a leave of absence. The older son of Omega gives no explanation for his disappearance in 2107.

Massacre is named the new Aethran Minister of War.

Magnus Colby offers to make Morpheus the new CPC Commissioner.

Morpheus publicly declines and embarrasses Colby. Interim CPC

Commissioner Grogan is named the new permanent commissioner.

Mayhem joins the CPC. He will continue to compete on CPC promoted cards during his GWF banishment.

Vyper, Colossus, and Dynamo defect to the CPC. Dynamo will reform the Awesome Studs tag team with Vanity, who has also joined the CPC during his GWF banishment.

Mandrill reveals that he, not Paragon, stole the alpha stone from Chaos. The revelation is sure to start a feud with Chaos just when the GWF needs unity against the CPC threat.

In an interview, Lance At-Las hints at a possible return to the GWF.

Dreadnaught’s transrevolved abilities fade away quickly. The one-time star is back to the weakened state he experienced before his latest entry into Doomsayer’s machine, and he has been rejected by every team in the GWF.

The Mad Jester reverts to being the Defender of the Realm—sometimes. On any given night, no one knows which of the two split personalities will appear.

Pulsar returns to the GWF to join the Centaurians in their battle with Brymstone Burning.

Morpheus and Omega are named co-commissioners of the GWF. The two state that they will create a new Galactic Code to keep order and hint that the time may be coming to bring back the Code Enforcer.

CPC 2108 GAME EDITION

2108 marks the conclusion of the CPC takeover storyline. GWF Co-Commissioners Omega and Morpheus announce that in 2109, all wrestlers will be forced to make a choice between the GWF and the CPC. The commissioners also publish their new Galactic Code, and a new Code Enforcer—or maybe more than one—is unleashed on the GWF.

2108 Rookie Class:

The Code Enforcers—The Code Enforcer actually turns out to be two men—one smaller and very agile, the other extremely large and powerful. Omega and Morpheus deny that they are two separate men, but the truth is obvious. Both Enforcers wear masks and do not speak, so their true identities are a secret. Some observers have speculated that the larger Code Enforcer could be Zouave, Ram, Manslaughter, or Taurine, while the smaller one might be Raven, Romulus, Vector One, or Talisman. The Code Enforcers are managed by Commander Sam, and they do not appear together in order to preserve the illusion that they are the same person. Both use finishers called HEADS WILL ROLL. The smaller Enforcer’s version of the move is a double chickenwing cradle. The larger Enforcer uses a belly-to-back cobra clutch suplex. The larger Enforcer also has a second finisher, the CODE CROWBAR, which is a falling clothesline from the top turnbuckle.

Maelstrom—An alien from Cygnus, Maelstrom was trained by Commander Sam’s old enemy Mangus. Like his mentor, Maelstrom hates humans. His finisher, the ANNIHILATOR EDGE, is a clothesline delivered after the victim has been whipped into the ropes.

Lorelai—Lorelai is the mother of Blade and the deceased Crossfire. She has come to the GWF to manage the Centaurians and to gain revenge on Blazing Skull for the death of her son. She does not wrestle.

Mike Fortune—Fortune is a product of Earth time travel. He has been brought forward from the year 1998, when he wrestled for various independent federations. He is now allied with Krakan and the Hitmen for Hire. His finisher, THE HANGMAN, is a move for which Fortune stands back to back with his opponent, grabs his victim by the chin, and lifts him by his neck in a painful submission maneuver.

Other New Cards for 2108:

U. S. Traitor—U. S. Patriot has changed his name and turned his back on the United States and on the GWF heroes, calling Commander Sam a tyrant and leaving his pregnant wife, Ms. Liberty. He has joined the newcomer Maelstrom in a tag team called Cygnus Strikeforce. His singles finisher, the TURNCOAT FLYER, is the same as his previous FREEDOM FLYER finisher. He and Maelstrom also have a tag finisher, CYGNUS STRIKEFORCE, for which Maelstrom performs a tombstone piledriver and then U. S. Traitor follows with a frog splash.

Twin Blood—The twin brothers Dreggs and Sleeeze have formed a new tag team, Twin Blood. The duo is managed by Johnny Rocket. They expect that their past success as tag team wrestlers and their communication with each other as twins, as well as their great agility and wrestling ability, will make them a top tag team. Dreggs still uses his TWIST AND SHOUT finisher and has also added the DREGGS OF DEFEAT, which is a submission hold for which Dreggs scissors his victim’s arm with his legs and then pulls back on the other arm. The brothers have also developed two tag finishers. SEEING DOUBLE is a double DDT, while for TWICE BITTEN Sleeze lifts the opponent onto his shoulders and Dreggs performs a Frankensteiner off the top turnbuckle.

Dreadnaught—Too many trips through the Transrevolver have taken a huge toll on Dreadnaught. He has become a shell of his former self, and his health is at risk every time he wrestles. He has been urged to retire, but he has stated that he would rather die in the ring than stop fighting—and given his condition, such a death is a distinct possibility.

Buck Steele—Steele has not changed his fighting style, but he seems to be turning into Genocide more often and more easily, and as Steele he is becoming physically weaker. He is returning to singles action for 2108, leaving his tag team with Blizzard.

Greg “The Hammer” Valentine—Another product of earth time travel, Valentine has been brought forward from the twentieth century to join Krakan’s Hitmen for Hire.

Lance At-Las—New artwork and minor stat changes as Lance makes his return to the GWF.

Chaos—A new card for Chaos as he joins Alpha Force in a powerful new tag team.

Alpha Force—New artwork and a new tag finisher to reflect Alpha’s new alliance with Chaos.

New Special Match:

Tirion Triple Threat Match: Three wrestlers in the ring together, fighting in an every man for himself brawl.

Other Major GWF News and Stories in 2108:

Masked man attacks CPC wrestlers in arenas throughout the galaxy. The masked vigilante wears a costume very similar to that of the Code Enforcer who entered the GWF in 2084. Commissioners Morpheus and Omega refuse to comment.

Mutant is really Montol. Krakan reveals that Mutant is former GWF wrestler Montrol, who was turned into the Mutant by radiation from an air raid bomb blast sometime around 2085.

Commissioners Morpheus and Omega publish the new Galactic Code. They also state that all CPC wrestlers will be fired and that everyone will be forced to make a choice between the GWF and the CPC. Magnus Colby and Sonora Pelf take legal action that delays the firings until 2109.

Heracles joins the CPC and reforms his tag team with Colossus.

Alpha Force comes back from Dimension X and explains to Chaos that the alpha stone is a fraud. Alpha says that his abilities and those of Chaos were never made greater by the stone, but rather by their increased belief in themselves because of what they thought the stone could do. Chaos agrees to join Alpha Force in a tag team to fight the CPC.

Star Warrior recruits an all-star team. For the final battle against the CPC, Star Warrior expands the Champions of the Galaxy roster to include Chaos, Alpha Force, Wolf, Pegasus, Amazonia, Supernova, CPC defector the Matador of M83, and the recently returned Lance At-Las.

Splatter and Vyper bolt from the CPC and join the Terrorists.

Long-time Fighting Titans Dragonmaster and Pulsar both retire.

The Creeper, Hammer, Manslaughter, Powerhouse, and Talisman all disappear from the GWF without notice.

I remembered a David Morse that lived in Long Beach and taught at a community college.

Unless this is the David Morse who played the sinister cop on "House" and George Washington in HBO's "John Adams" miniseries.
