What follows is a very extensive breakdown of Takeover 2112 by Board Member JeffT. I marvel at the output of some of this project's contributors. An incredible effort.

TAKEOVER 2112 marked a key point in GWF history in more ways than one. After the original 2087 edition debuted, all releases since have been titled based on certain overall storyline themes lasting 2-4 years. However, the TAKEOVER title theme appeared only in 2112. It also features significant events in the federation’s ongoing story as a whole. The UFSP’s ban on professional wrestling was overturned and the GWF returned after two years of competing in another dimension. Unfortunately, what should have been a triumphant occasion quickly turned shady as it was revealed that the conniving Cordanus had taken advantage of a legal loophole to seize ownership of the GWF!
Main Storyline of 2112:
The ‘Takeover’ of Cordanus – Cordanus becomes owner of the GWF, names himself commissioner, and even forms his own powerful team of wrestlers called, appropriately, Takeover. Cordanus also serves as overall leader and manager of the powerful newcomer, Mensar. He then boldly hires Thantos who mentors the highly talented Bloodline primarily as a means to spite the Omega family and introduces his own son, Encubus, the Prince of Darkness. It is revealed that Cordanus’s vengeful obsession with the GWF stems from the fact that he is actually a failed professional wrestler himself. Due to this crushing turn of events, Star Warrior’s fragile psyche is pushed over the edge. He returns to his unstable and extremely volatile Avenging Warrior persona. He declares war on Cordanus with an edgy superstar team of his own. He dons a new Avenging Warrior mask and constantly carries a crowbar. Now he stalks the ringside during matches ready to snap at any moment.
Other Important Events in 2112:
Massacre’s Killer Revealed – Phantast reveals that a conspiracy between Vengeance, Doomsayer, and Mayhem. They planned and executed the legendary Massacre. The details of this conspiracy makes punishment of the assassins difficult and plants the seeds of growing dissension and strife within the Gladiator camp and all of Aethra as well.
Comings and Goings:
The current native Centran fighters decide to journey to Dimension K also. This includes the mysterious and ancient Murdok, who blames the Ravagers for exterminating his people and has vowed retribution at any cost. However, not everyone who wrestled in Centra came home. Lance At-Las and Meteor elected to remain behind. A wanderer at heart, Lance wished to explore this new galaxy alongside his good friend. Eventually the two friends, along with an unexpected third party, went on to form the Centra Wrestling Federation. The cruel and sadistic PainMaster was that surprise third party. By means of Mandrill’s treachery, he had been mistakenly left behind and trapped in Dimension Y. At least for awhile….
Team Feuds:
Takeover v. The Avenging Warriors
The Colonizers v. The Gladiators of Aethra
The Ramparts v. Murdok’s World
FDF v. The Alien Connection
The RocketMen v. The Great Comeback
The Centaurians v. Brymstone Burning
The Fighting Titans v. Hitmen for Hire
Transevolver (independents)
2112 Newcomers:
Mensar: Handpicked from Mensa’s best fighters by Cordanus himself, Mensar arrives to challenge the GWF’s best. He has superstar talent and intensity combined with strength greater than nearly anyone he faces. He has an excellent finisher called the WRECKING MACHINE (front face-lock while falling backwards off the turnbuckle head spike). Overall, he’s probably a notch or two below the elite wrestlers at this time, but he has two huge advantages with Cordanus giving him constant title pushes as owner/commissioner and being a major pest at ringside. He occasionally forms a Tag Team called Blacklist with Cordanus.
Encubus: The shocking events of 2112 somewhat overshadowed what some would consider a notable event in wrestling. The debut of Encubus, son of the legendary Thantos. He has prepared for this moment nearly all his life under the guidance of his father. He has a dark, almost occult-like aura about him and is also known as the ‘Prince of Darkness’. While still quite young, he is clearly a skilled all-around wrestler and excellent athlete. He completely idolizes his father and the names of his two finishers are tributes to him. The MAFFEI MASTERLOCK is a variation on Thantos’s MASTERLOCK, but not nearly as effective, and the more dangerous SECOND COMING is a dropkick into the turnbuckle followed by a bulldog. He also forms a Tag Team with Bloodline called Next Generation.
Stars and Stripes (American Guy/U.S. Male): The top two prospects from Earth at the time, these two young men are recruited by Commando Sam and thrown right into the fire of the ongoing battle between Sam and Mangus. American Guy escaped a life of being raised on the streets to become an Olympic wrestler. He is skilled on the mat but his rough upbringing has left him with a brash, trash-talking streak and a bad temper as well. He is decent in singles and tag matches and uses a double-team maneuver with Male called Stars and Stripes (double toss into the ropes followed by a combo head slam into the mat) as well as his finisher AMERICAN FIREPOWER (chicken wing into a pin attempt). U.S. Male is a smart and straightforward individual who also idolizes Commando Sam. He possesses strong wrestling fundamentals but excels in tag team competition. Like Guy, he also has a double-team attack called Show of Force (double shoulder ram) and even a tag finishing move called the PATRIOT MISSILE (Guy lifts Male over his head from the turnbuckle and throws his partner at the opponent with Male going for a roll-up).
Other New Standard Cards:
Cordanus: His original UFSP President card gets overhauled into wrestler/manager combination. He has undercard-level wrestling skills but only appears in tag matches with Mensar. Together they are called Blacklist, but Mensar is left doing all the work. Cordanus will usually only tag in when the opponent is down or when there’s a chance to finish the match. His finisher is TOTAL MASTERY and basically amounts to distracting the referee so Mensar can sneak in and perform his own finisher. The cowardly Cordanus then gets the cover for himself.
Lorelei: The fiery Centaurian woman consumed with seeking vengeance for her son’s death now enters the ring herself. She’s an agile wrestler with decent skills. Her finisher is a spinning DDT she calls MATERNAL RAGE. She also forms a tag team with Amazonia. They go up against The Hellions and call themselves the Amazon Brawlers.
Maelstrom: The ‘human exterminator’, as he now calls himself, turns his focus to singles competition. He takes on somewhat of an ‘enforcer’ role for his team now. He possesses a strong offense and a controversial finisher called BRAND OF CYGNUS. The move is basically an Annihilator Edge, but if he wins the match with it, he might then try for further humiliation and actually ‘brand’ his opponent right there in the ring.
Draconian Sheik: This madman gets a bit better and some move changes, but he’s still the one of the most psychotic wrestlers in GWF history. He still uses the DRACONIAN BACKBREAKER but has added another finisher – the SADISTIC HAMMERLOCK (hammerlock with opponent face down, then lunging forward in an attempt to break the arm).
Wraith: Wraith has entered the Transevolver and emerged with improved invisibility powers. Almost all of his attacks take his opponents completely by surprise, giving him one of the most potent offenses in GWF history.
Vyper: Vyper has become even more intense if that’s possible. In 2112, he has fully realized his wrestling potential and vaulted himself into a championship contention.
Special Edition Cards:
Thunder: Thunder could be considered the greatest Gladiator ever after the slight upgrades on this card.
Murdok: The first appearance of the ancient Antilian with the ‘power of the plague’. This is a key card due to the fact that he’s very involved in official storylines and doesn’t get a ‘regular edition’ card until 2117.
Trench: Some slight changes reflecting his new attitude.
Avenging Warrior: New manager card.
2112 Ringside Companion:
Offers many new matches and some previous ones as well. It also includes some important charts to use. Some key matches and charts are: The Mensa Tables Match (brought by Mensar in 2112), the Earth Ladder Match (brought by American Guy in 2112), and a special 2112 chart for Commissioner Cordanus the determines Title Shots, Suspensions, etc.
