War Games Trilogy
The game's next phase began with the War Games 2091 edition, considered by many fans to be arguably the best set to date. Many of the characters included in the set became long- lasting fan favorites and War Games also marked the first time that an overall storyline connected the game editions sharing their name.
War Games 2092 saw the game releases from twelve to ten cards per game edition, but the releases moved from once a year to twice a year. War Games 2092 also saw the debut of popular and controversial wrestler Chaos. Omega's retirement also became official in 2092 when he received a new card that had no wrestling information on the back.
War Games 2093 followed that up with the debut of Chaos' arch-rival and brother of Star Warrior, Alpha Force. This set also marked the first time that a wrestler, Exo-King, was removed from the storylines, though it was only for a one year sabbatical.

Sudden Death Two Part Series
The game years of 2094-95 ushered in Sudden Death, which featured the first game editions not drawn by Chuck Carter, who was replaced on these sets by Larry Snelly, but also saw the beginning of Special Edition cards. The Special Edition cards, initially, were new art for old pics, often in response to fan complaints about the original pieces. They also occasionally featured slightly tweaked game statistics, though this didn't become prevalent until later. Sudden Death also introduced fan voting to the game, as players took a direct hand in the outcome of CotG storylines by telling Tom Filsinger who was winning feuds in their feds, with a wrestler from each losing team being banished for two years.
Sudden Death was created as a way to make the game even more interactive, as well as reduce the GWF roster, which many felt was getting too large.
Sudden Death 2094 also featured the first female wrestler card, as Sweet Thing became Ms. Liberty, though she didn't have anyone to wrestle until the following game year when Cassandra debuted.
Sudden Death 2095 is also considered one of the best sets released, and it produced many fan favorite characters as well, including Raven, Jack of Diamonds and Pegasus.

Revolution Trilogy
The post-Sudden Death series was called Revolution and lasted three sets. A new storytelling tactic was integrated at this stage, when Revolution 2096 shipped alongside Classics 2079, the first game edition to look back at the GWF history that had been hinted at but never explored. New characters would be introduced in Classics sets, like Morpheus, only to resurface in the current GWF storylines a set or two later. Parallel story concepts also emerged, such as Star Warrior and Thantos' reunion in 2096 coinciding with the Classics 2079 set's depiction of them as a young tag team just debuting.
The GWF Promoter, CotG's official newsletter, began having more of an influence on the game at this point, with the exclusive, subscriber-only release of two game cards, The Draconian Sheik and Johnny Rocket's Launching Pad.
Revolution 2098 was another controversial step in the direction of science fiction as Colossus, a cyborg who could duplicate the finishers of his opponents, debuted. This set also featured art by Mike Gustovich, a comic book artist whose work so failed to impress that he only ever did one full set.
The Revolution series seemed more to be a set-up for the next arc, Civil War.

Civil War
The premise of the Civil War series dramatically shook up the GWF in that it realigned the team feuds that had been so prevalent throughout the game's history and set up new rivalries. It turned the villainous, yet extremely popular, Gladiators (Brute, Massacre and Spike) into anti-heroes and reunited them with former ally and GWF Icon Wolf. This set was also the first to be drawn by prolific, yet controversial, artist Brian Bendis, who has since gone on to fame as writer of Jinx, Powers, Ultimate Spider-man, New Avengers and House of M. Among the complaints about Bendis' art were his heavy use of shadow and his frequent omission of pupils.
The fan interaction continued to grow, as the first wrestler created by a fan, Kati the Samoan Warrior, debuted in 2099 as the winner of the GWF Promoter's first Create a Wrestler contest.

MegaTournament
In the vein of Sudden Death, the Megatournament was a huge competition that covered the next two years and placed the outcome in the hands of GWF promoters once more, as three influential managerial leaders, Omega, Morpheus and Magnus Colby placed their futures on the line in the Megatournament, with the loser being banished "forever".
The tenth anniversary of Champions of the Galaxy also occurred at the beginning of this storyline, and was celebrated with the release of the GWF Birthday Bash, as set filled with undercard bums and controversial figure Blazing Skull, a fiery-headed demon who could end the careers of his opponents!

Sudden Death II
The second Sudden Death tournament began, and the seeds were laid for the next, HUGE story arc as the Colby-Pelf Corporation began solidifying its base as a group of "insurgents" trying to upset the power base of the GWF in a story eerily similar to the WCW-nWo storyline that had yet to begin. Sudden Death 2103 also featured the death of a wrestler for the first time, as rookie Crossfire, introduced in 2102, was killed in the ring with Blazing Skull, a move designed to end the restrictions on Blazing Skull and place him firmly in the GWF.
The Birthday Bash was followed up at this time with Son of Bash, which featured more undercard bums, an Iceman-like character named Blizzard and a revealing look at GWF wrestler Star Warrior's descent into a vigilante-like personality as Avenging Warrior.
The first GWF Promoter Create-A-Tag Team contest winners were also announced in this period, and the duo of Comedy and Tragedy (Theatre of Pain) debuted as the most popular Promoter Wrestler contest winners to grace CotG.
The headline feud saw Omega's comrade Commander Sam betray him, but it was all revealed to have been a plot of former hero and dark sorcerer Mesmer, whose plan was foiled by his mentor from Dimension X, Phantast. Mesmer revealed he had been operating at the behest of Magnus Colby, but was double-crossed by Colby when he failed to get Colby's former ally Chaos banished from the GWF.

CPC
The CPC storyline featured the emergence of a second federation trying to challenge the GWF for control, by stealing away their stars and leeching off their name value.
The CPC series ran four game years and featured a massive roster of wrestlers encapsulating two federations. It feature old alliances being shattered as partner turned on partner, and shocking twists such as GWF posterboy Wolf attempting to join the CPC, only to wind up a true renegade when that fell through and he was left without allies on any side.
The storyline culminated with Star Warrior bringing together an all-star squad of some of the biggest names in GWF history to battle Thantos' Penthouse Suite line-up in arguably the most star-studded feud in CotG history.
Finally, at the beginning of the 2109 set, the GWF obtained a court order forcing the CPC to operate independently of them, and forcing wrestlers to choose a fed to work for. This launched the CPC as its own distinct fed, and its history from that point is covered below.

The End
The conclusion of the Federation Wars between the GWF and CPC saw several prominent CPC stars remain in the GWF to act as a thorn in their sides, while several GWF stars who had been lost in the shuffle of the GWF relocated to the CPC.
The End 2109 was also doubled up with GalactiCon Bash 2109, which featured a slew of women's wrestlers and the first card ever "kinda" drawn by game creator Tom Filsinger, Sir Ender, an undercard bum based off an unfinished sketch that Tom attempted to finish up.
The End also introduced President Cordanus of the UFSP, an avid, anti-wrestling politician seeking to shut the GWF down, citing sadistic and sometimes evil wrestlers like the Gladiators and Aethra and the Brymstonians. This storyline coincided with a real-life crossroads for game creator Tom Filsinger, who was reaching a turning point: Continue the game and place a glass ceiling on his career as a college professor, or end the game and advance in academia.
The End actually became a new beginning as Cordanus succeeded in shutting the GWF down, but not "ending" anything. Several GWF superstars headed to another Dimension, Dimension Y, where they found themselves among a small colony of humans on Centra. GWF star Mandrill threatened to take over, and the Centrans rallied with wrestlers of their own such as Cpl. Aegis and The SWAT Team (Trench and Warfare).
The zombified ruler of Centra, Murdok, emerged from his torpor and allied with Mandrill against his own people, while back in Dimension K Omega lobbied hard to get wrestling reinstated. The activity in both Dimensions were monitored by Phantast.
This period also featured a renewed synergy between the GWF Promoter and the game editions as a murder mystery began in The End 2110's handbook and played out through the pages of the Promoter when GWF Hall of Fame legend Massacre was poisoned.

Takeover
Omega succeeded in getting wrestling reinstated in late 2111, and the GWF stars returned home, with news of Massacre's death. Phantast revealed that it was a conspiracy of three: That mad scientist Doomsayer had colluded with Vengeance and Mayhem, Massacre's own allies, to poison and kill him. In exchange, Doomsayer was owed a Gladiator to be delivered to him by Vengeance.
The GWF homecoming was also spoiled by former UFSP President Cordanus who revealed that, as a loophole of his shutdown of the GWF, he had actually transferred ownership to himself and he now retained that ownership. Former GWF media personality and CPC defector Qualitar revealed the source of Cordanus' hatred: Back in 2104, he had been a fledgling wrestler who had grown frustrated at what he perceived was a lack of support by his GWF heroes.
The GWF Promoter released four limited edition cards at this time, including Cordanus in his wrestling persona from 2104, Doomsayer's promised Gladiator known only by his rank of P3, and part time stars Bust Up and Necros.

Cordanus played divide and conquer, manipulating the heroes and villains into a true civil war to see who would run each camp, while he solidified his camp to combat the winners.
He also brought back dark sorcerer Mesmer, a controversial move to game fans, in that his playing card was a sorcerer that used magic to influence the outcomes of matches. Phantast emerged to combat Mesmer, casting spells to counteract Mesmer's magic.
In 2114 Cordanus' Takeover team faced a GWF Coalition of heroes and villains led by Star Warrior and they emerged victorious, forcing Star Warrior out of the GWF.

Revelations and the Cosmic Battle
The next four game years proved to be hugely controversial, as the demonic beings from the Fourth Realm and their nearly celestial beings from the Second Realm debuted in 2115 and 2116, plunging the GWF into an over the top sci-fi/fantasy battle that left the fate of all reality at stake. The stakes gradually escalated until it encompassed the beings from Centra as well as the enigmatic Endgame, who first claimed to be from Dimension X, but was later revealed to be from Corvus in Dimension K.
Finally, a cancerous force named Maramus emerged to lead his Serpents of Evil, and his presence also saw tremendous changes take place in the galaxy, including a galactic depression.
Good eventually triumphed, Maramus was banished, virtually everyone was restored to their home dimensions, and the GWF roster was dramatically shrank to only twenty eight male wrestlers, the smallest roster since the original set was released.
This move also launched aCe, a third ongoing line of CotG game editions featuring the beings of Centra
