First a few notes....
I chose not to submit a ballot. I felt that voting while having access to information that was not readily available to anyone else would grant me an unfair level of influence. It came to the decision that it was in the best interest of the community that I abstain.
I'd like to thank everyone who participated. From Tom Filsinger for making this possible and providing kind words of support. Chris Ingersoll for creating the Hall of Fame sub-section and providing an unproven project an opportunity to succeed. Kris Osk and Larry Swank for show me the respect of offering to include the finished product into CotG Online sight unseen.
A special thank you to those who took time out of their busy schedules to contribute game editions overviews: Mike M, Big Bri, Steel Thunder, Cory Olson, Greg Kavanagh, Aaron Chiu, Chad Olson, Joe Scully, Matt Dickendesher, David Basnett and Aaron Anderson. While I was the architect of this project...these were the proverbial engineers. Their substantive contributions will stand the test of time and help many a future CotG game player that they will never see, hear or interact with on any level. I want to publicly thank them for giving their time and providing content that will benefit members of the the CotG Community both now and into the future.
I want to especially acknowledge Jim Steel for his amazing contributions throughout this project. Jim not only contributed an incredible three game edition write ups....but along with Troy Xavier...he completed the monster task of vetting the names of all 300 plus existing CotG wrestlers into a defined standard that could constitute the projects voting ballots. He has been integral to the execution of this project and was a core component of this project's execution.
I also want to pay tribute to math wizard Greg Henion aka Dragon Breath for his timely certification of the ballots. His output was beyond impressive as he readily took control of the process and provided a prompt processing of the information. Were it not for him you would not be reading the results that follow. Also a thank you to Andy Good for his volunteerism.
Lastly I want to thank all those who took time out to vote. I want to especially point out Swarm...who went out of his way to do me the favor of energizing the various Open Ballot Blocks...another text book example that wherever Swarm leads...many tend to walk behind. The mass participation by open and closed ballot saw one of (if not the) largest number of unique participants of any project in this board's history. Turnout was greater than I anticipated and by voting is such numbers it added more substance to this endeavor. Thanks for caring about CotG AND taking the time to HELP legitimize the process.

What follows is a 'block by block' account of the results for this Final Ballot Phase of the CotG Hall of Fame Project. At the end I'll include a brief look at the candidacies which faced an interesting 'historical reassessment' from the results of the old paper version of the HOF via the Promoter Newsletter.
Also included is the the official CotG HOF Induction Ballot along with voting parameters. Both open and closed ballots will be accepted immediately. Voting will end at the close of Friday July 6th. -------------------------------------------------------------------

Original CotG Hall of Famers: Legacies Reassessed
A number of past inductees from the old paper (Promoter Newsletter) version of the CotG HOF failed to achieve Final Ballot status. Many reputations were judged and found wanting. Some didn’t even fare competitively when measured against their peers. Perhaps a reminder that there’s a difference between honoring elite level all time greats…and creating a Hall of ‘Good’. Here’s a list of some of those candidates along with their accompanying vote percentages:
Incredible Badger 37.9% Battering Ram 32.8% Bounty Hunter 53.4% Dragonmaster 58.1% Parsec 12.7% Tantalis 12.7% Exo-King 32.8% Actagon 62.0% Proteus 60.3% Krakan 63.6% Marcel De Sade 30.9% Massif 41.4% Billy Jo Boxer 6.9% Soldier of Fortune 58.6% Vigilante 62.0% Pulsar 41.4%

I'm beginning to think 75% was too high.

I think 75% was good. This is only the first induction, so only the elite should be on the final ballot phase. Once we do this again, I'm sure the results will be different.

Will the guys that did not make it be open to later inductions?

I definitely concur JMello. It's important to remember that this is the very first induction class...that's something very special. In the Final Ballot Phase the candidates were judged against their peers. There were quite a few 'unique voters' in each block...which meant that those who knew the candidates best (IE. played through Early Classics in Block A) were making the judgments. Just to make it to this phase is an achievement. This Induction Ballot Phase is different in that it measures the candidates against their elite level peers across the span of history. Both phases were pivotal to the process...but this one determines who 'really is' the best of the best. Going forward there will have to be criteria established regulating the parameters of what will constitute future Final Ballots (maximum/minimum size, process/qualifications for entry, etc.). Personally I would want those standards to be as stringent as possible....but that's an issue that is best discussed after the first HOF Induction process has been completed. Will the guys that did not make it be open to later inductions? Just as with all the previous Institution Building Polls...as a community we can discuss (and vote upon) how to best configure future HOF Final Ballot and Induction cycles. I think it's best to hold off on entering into that territory until after we've completed this first cycle.

I want to publicly thank Paint for his hard work in spearheading this project. Well done, my friend.
I think the 75% threshold was a good one, especially since this was the first induction class. The only thing I would have possibly changed would have been a tag team nomination/ induction for Brute and Massacre as they are completely synonymous with one another.
All in all, outstanding job!

Thanks Joe. You bring up a great point regarding legacy teams like Brute and Massacre. How to access their candidacies (and even qualify a team as deserving 'unit' status) is definitely something that will have to be discussed (and voted on) once this first cycle ends.

How to access their candidacies (and even qualify a team as deserving 'unit' status) is definitely something that will have to be discussed (and voted on) once this first cycle ends. In another thread, a poll shows people favoring two election cycles per year. Maybe the second election should be inductions of tag teams as a unit. A wrestler can be inducted as both a single, as Thantos and Star Warrior have been, and as one-half of a tag team. There should be a limit for one tag-team induction per singles wrestler. Dreggs could receive an induction for New Order with Mace, but once they are in, Dreggs could not be renominated for Twin Blood with Sleeze or Mace for Disorder X with Grunge.

A number of past inductees from the old paper (Promoter Newsletter) version of the CotG HOF failed to achieve Final Ballot status. Many reputations were judged and found wanting. The problem inherent with a "kayfabed" list such as the Promoter is that it had to be filled within a very brief editorial cycle. It could not offer the deliberation the "People's Poll" did. Plus, the threshold was set higher.

You make some interesting points as always Wad. The problem I'd have with the 'one tag wrestler induction limit' would be found in the case of someone like Overkill. I think strong cases could be made for his candidacy with both Thunder and Malice. I don't like the idea of 'slashing achievements by parameter'. If enough people felt a unit involving Overkill merited induction (and correspondingly felt two of his partners formed a unit that was HOF Worthy) I think that's something that should be honored. The process of defining a policy on how to handle tag teams will make for some interesting votes. I'll start a poll to define a majority direction.

Paint makes a strong point about placing limitations on inductions. It would be hard to decide which team of which Dreggs and Overkill were members would be inducted. By placing a one-team maximum on which one gets in, the risk of splitting the vote becomes a factor, possibly keeping both tag teams out.
