Civil War 2099
Rookies: Three
Metalhead: Estranged twin brother of Dreggs… Entered GWF as a member of Doomsayer’s Entropy team… Immediately began feuding with his brother in a tag team feud pitting him and Grunge (Generation X) against the New Order (Dreggs and Mace)…Achieved minor success with Grunge, but Generation X was outclassed by the more experienced, and talented, New Order…In 2101, joined Johnny Rocket’s team, eventually changing name to Sleeze… As a member of the Rocketmen, eventually reunited with Dreggs to form Twin Blood… Had an astounding run with his brother and is regarded as one of the best tag team wrestlers ever.
Pharaoh Khetty: Appeared in the GWF as a member of Occult Overlord’s Brotherhood…Claimed to have been murdered in a previous life by Dragonmaster…Complete whack-job, which would be a recurring theme throughout his career… Began his GWF run in a tag team with singles star Bishop Hell known as the Hoods of Death…The Bishop wanted little to do with the pairing and Khetty was shuffled off to join Ram the following year in an even worse pairing called Crypt of Terror…His feud, one which he never got the better of, continued with Dragonmaster…Wound up teaming with Mesmer, which would lead to his falling ill and sinking into a coma… Came out of his coma in 2104, became known as Talisman and sought revenge against Mesmer for what had happened, blaming Mesmer and the Overlord for convincing him he was an ancient Pharaoh…Left the GWF after several more nondescript years…Entered the CPC in 2112 after joining a commune/cult, the True Way…He now manages a team of the same name in the CPC.
Pollux: Debuted in the GWF as an undercard bum to replace Ursa Major, who was showing signs of improvement…Toiled in obscurity and toted numerous beatings over the course of the next decade, until leaping into the Transevolver and becoming the two-headed sensation, Nth Degree…Maybe sensation is a bit of a stretch, as Pollux had only slightly more success as Nth Degree…Achieved greatest level of fame by being on the short end of a feud of with the Gladiators in 2114 as a member of Heavy Artillery with Monad.
Notable Updates:
Thunder: Fresh off his first cleansing, the former bodyguard stood poised to break out into superstardom…Began his actual wrestling career as primarily a tag team star, first with Killing Machine and later, Overkill…Had a much more high-flying, athletic style than his Aethran predecessors…Helped lead the Gladiator Vanguard team, which also consisted of Vengeance, Mayhem and Overkill to victory in the Gladiator Civil War of 2099 and 2100… Won multiple Tag Team titles with Overkill before moving onto singles superstardom in 2110…Retired from action in late 2118…Hall of Fame lock when he becomes eligible, as his levels of success in both the tag team and singles arena are nearly unparalleled.
Enigma: Another former bodyguard who began coming into his own in 2099… Debuted in the GWF in 2096 as Darkos’ head of security… By 2099, was one of the most exciting and gifted performers in the GWF… Feuded with Stalker and the Savage Kingdom in 2099, and proved superior to the Neptunians more often than not…Terak upgraded his team by signing Vyper in 2100, which led to a very exciting feud between the masked marvel and the snake-handler… Eventually outgrew the Masked Assassins and joined the Star Warrior-managed Champions of the Galaxy in 2109… By this point, Enigma was in the upper-echelon of the GWF…Lasted only one year with the Champions and joined Johnny Rocket… Reunited with Star Warrior in 2112, staying for two years before going solo… Entered the CPC in 2115, and showed that he was amazingly still in his prime…Probably most responsible for a galaxy-wide rise in popularity of cruiserweight wrestling… Along with Prodigy, Euritar and Eclipse would be on the Mount Rushmore of cruiserweight wrestlers in GWF history.
Alpha Force: In 2099, the former Heavyweight champion fell to the GWF’s second-tier, thanks in large part to the loss of the Alpha Stone… Spent the year embroiled in the Champions of the Galaxy-Citadel of the Elite feud… Took a backseat to Colossus and Heracles and focused primarily on battling the Matador of M83, another wrestler who, as ridiculous as it sounds, had been pushed out of the foreground by members of his own team… Finished at 180-degree turn, closing out his GWF career teaming with Chaos… A true legend who is sometimes overlooked in discussions of all-time greats, thanks in large part to his involvement in one of the most muddled, confusing sagas in GWF history.
Monad: Formerly the Cosmic Forces, is mainly notable because he is the only tag team to be merged into one wrestler, thanks to the Transevolver… The four shoulders that remained from the experiment often were a hindrance and made him easy to pin once he was down... Never able to live up to his early years as Matter and Antimatter, who comprised one of the great teams of the early 2090s.
Draconian Sheik: Part-time wrestler who was signed by Reynard B. Guile in 2099… The first of many wrestlers to come hailing from the cloning capital of the Galaxy, Draco… Clone of 20th Century legend, the Sheik… True innovator of violence who became in one bloody feud after another with hardcore legends such as Wolf, Mayhem and Vyper.
Ursa Major: One-time curtain-jerker who took his first steps toward respectability in 2099… Began teaming with Lord Nexus, who was in the twilight of his career, as TitanWrestling… Would go onto become a very accomplished tag team wrestler, as well as solid singles star in the cruiserweight division.
Major Events of 2099
Gladiator Civil War
The Aethran Civil War was the headline story in 2099, as well as 2100. Following the Sudden Death loss to W.A.R. in 2095 and subsequent disappointing years, Thakur, the Aethran Minister of War, decided it was time for a housecleaning. He allowed Vengeance, the newest Gladiator, to lead a team of Aethran upstarts (for the most part, as Mayhem had been around since 2091) against the Gladiator legends.
The old guard consisted of Spike, Brute and Massacre, so the galaxy was shocked when original GWF gladiator, Wolf, was added to the fray. The feud introduced Overkill and, for the most part, Thunder to the GWF’s upper level and helped elevate Vengeance, as well. The Civil War would plant the seeds for one of the most tragic events in GWF history.
Alpha Force loses the power of the stone
In a strange turn, Alpha Force completely lost the power of the Alpha stone in 2099. This occurrence saw him fall from the category of GWF Big Two (along with Chaos) nearly to the mid-card ranks. At this point, the only thing keeping him near the top of the card was his affiliation with Omega’s Champions of the Galaxy.
Morpheus pushes for the top villain spot
Seeing the distraction of the Civil War and the disarray the Gladiator team was in, Morpheus jumped at the chance to take control of the GWF’s Villain “team,” if they could be labeled as such.
Morpheus already managed Chaos, Janus and the Matador, so he saw 2099 as the prime opportunity to get the rest of the federation’s heels in line and take charge. Things didn’t exactly work out for Morpheus, as he was ousted from the GWF following the MegaTournament loss of 2102.
Morpheus and the rest of the Citadel’s treatment of the Matador during this time helped to usher in the CPC, as it is quite possible that Magnus Colby would not have finished second in the MegaTournament had they shown the uber-talented Matador more respect.
Krakan rejoins villain team, feuds with FDF
After several years leading his violent independent team, the Hitmen for Hire, Krakan became an unabashed heel again, leading his charges into battle against a strange line-up of the FDF, which featured Dreadnaught being managed by Commander Sam.
Krakan’s tag team, the Mercenaries, continued their high level of performance by getting the better of the Retribution (Dreadnaught and Justice) more often than not. The team battle also featured an interesting singles feud between the athletic, top-flight technician U.S. Patriot and the club-swinging, hardcore mauler, Splatter.
The Hitmen would go on to join the CPC in the upcoming MegaTournament, which would help banish Morpheus from the GWF, while this FDF lineup would prove to be one of its more forgettable incarnations.
