COTG HOF Candidates: GWF Sets
This will represent the GWF Sets. Later I'll add the other sets in. It's basically a skeleton list that shows rosters from each set. Down the road I may ask for help in order to 'flesh it out' with story arc and game mechanic info (appearance of multiple finishers, add one moves, specialty mechanics, etc) so this can double as a game edition guide for newer players.
If I missed anyone from a given roster send me a PM and I'll make the addition.

and so the debate begins...
does Hechilles from the Early Classics set deserve to be in the HOF? His stats certainly say yes, but he hasn't left much of a legacy other than the Early Classics set, and he sort of faded early.

His stats certainly say yes, but he hasn't left much of a legacy other than the Early Classics set, and he sort of faded early. You could say the same about the mighty Grogan. Grant it he was also commisioner, but still he did not wrestle for a long period of time. I liked Hechilles, and think he should go. Afterall, there are plenty of athletes who have a shorter career and still make or at least are talked about making the HOF. Also Hechilles will be remembered as one of the greats who left because of the change to VIllians vs heros. His character was very well developed especially for someone who left so soon.

I think Grogan is an interesting case. At least in my fed, he was a multiple time champion during the Early Classics Period. But at the start of 2106, while still serving as GWF Commissioner, Grogan sold out to the CPC.

I don't know about Hechilles or Grogon, but I think one person who is not in the HoF that isn't is Dreadnaught! He litterally lived and died the GWF lifestyle! He was a great wrestler who had success in Tag Team wrestling (with Executioner, Tongsoon, Monad, and Soldier of Fortune) and in singles, even winning the GWF Hardcore title in my fed durring his "Cascet MAtch Challenge." I think he should be in the HoF. Big Time

But at the start of 2106, while still serving as GWF Commissioner, Grogan sold out to the CPC. That last note, in my book, puts him solidly in the Pete Rose/Joe Jackson Camp. As in, "no way in hell." Looking at this as a legitimate competition and sporting event, what Grogan did was completely unforgivable. Even if he were the most dominant wrestler of all-time, which he sure as heck wasn't.

Except that this is the COTG HOF, not the GWF's. I agree that Grogan's defection almost certainly eliminated him from consideration in the GWF HOF (unless he had already been elected as a wrestler). On the other hand, his defection could be viewed as ESSENTIAL to the success of the CPC. There is no doubt that he left an indelible mark on the sport. And let's face facts: Thantos' 2 betrayals of the GWF (in 2087 and 2105) was much more damaging to the GWF, and I doubt that Thantos won't be elected. My 2 cents.

True enough, but helping one promotion at the expense of another doesn't smell right to me. I mean, if Paul Tagliabue sold the NFL up the river and defected to the XFL, that'd probably put a dent in his chances at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Well, here's where we hit some thorny issues regarding a Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame. Pro wrestling's a sport where you *expect* nasty s*** to go down, as opposed to other sports, where a guy like Ty Cobb is an outlier rather than one of a large group. Plus, Thantos' original turn was a pivotal moment in the history of the federation and completely changed the league's set-up forever. His influence is undeniable, even if it wasn't positive. (Sort of like Mick Foley x 100, come to think of it.) Does anyone have business records of how GWF TV ratings and live attendance figures changed after the original Thantos turn? ;D

What's kinda being missed in the "Grogan betrayal discussion" is that he was still the only man to be commissioner of two different COTG Feds. That's pretty noteworthy IMO.

But just like Thantos, his impact overshadows the betrayal (or in Thantos' case, the betrayals). Plus, I'd imagine that Grogan's betrayal didn't hurt the ratings of either the GWF or the CPC.

This is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen put together on this board! Hats off to LWPD for man-handling this huge undertaking.
