There’s been a lot of talk about COTGonline having two primary pieces: the SIMULATOR and the STAT TRACKER.
There may also be some understandable confusion about the term “simulator” and what exactly we are offering.
Let’s clear things up if we can. From now on, let’s refer to the two pieces as the GAME AREA and STAT TRACKER. We know enough about the Stat Tracker, so let’s clear up what the Game Area will offer. (I know, I know, “Game Area” isn’t the most exciting name, but it’s a working title that is a little more accurate in it’s description).
The Game Area will offer:
-A program based off of CotG Desktop that allows you to run your own federation or play out matches, leagues, tournaments, etc. with other COTGonline Promoters.
-An area to check out your colored card collection in full sized view. -An actual full-sim feature that plays out entire cards for you in a matter of seconds. You set up the matches and the simulator spits out the results.
How will the full-sim feature decide who should win or lose? It will use a unique combination of card strength (sort of like Lord Rahl’s rankings) and the “BRAND NEW official ranking system of COTG characters.”
Who will be ranking the COTG characters you ask?
WE ALL WILL.
Stay tuned and get ready for your chance to contribute to the official COTGonline ranking system.

It will use a unique combination of card strength (sort of like Lord Rahl’s rankings) and the “BRAND NEW official ranking system of COTG characters.” As always, interesting information to think about. My first thought when reading this was "why doesn't the random dice rolls on the wrestler cards determine the outcome?" That is in there somewhere too right? Not sure why card strength and character rankings are being created as part of how the matches are run.

The question I have with this is will there remain the possibility that an overmatched under-card wrestler can step into the ring with a main eventer and win the match clean?

To answer both questions at once, there most certainly is an element of randomness to the results. It's not like you're going to put Paganax up against Nemean, the simulator will compare the two, see that Paganax is better, and then give the match to everyone's favorite Heathen Chief. That would stink.
Nemean will be able to win a match against Paganax, although they'll be few and far between, just as it should be. Put Nemean up against Grovel, and the match is going to be much tighter - again, just as it should be.

Awesome, thanks BDS! Monolith in my fed has lost 3 out of the last 4 clean...I wasn't sure if I would loose that possibility with the sim.

That's one of those things I want to see myself before I know what to think. Mind you Exodus's last match against Grovel..he barely won. Wonder if it would simulate the same way.

Is anyone actually considering simulating their fed? Basically setting it up, being the promoter, and letting the computer decide the fates of your fed?

For most of my matches, that's what I do anyway. I may roll dice and resolve the match but for the mostpart I'm useing my match rotation system to sim a league.
The computer simulator would do it faster, and take the few player decisions out of the equation. But I really try to make those decisions how the wrestler I'm playing would do it.

I wouldn't myself...but I can see using a sim for lower card or less important matches (not entire cards), especially for people who don't have a lot of time and just want to concentrate on certain guys. Also, for people still back in the game years where there are 60-70 guys on the roster. I remember it being very hard to even get certain guys a decent number of matches in those days.
