Is CoTG online going to cost a monthly or yearly fee? and is this in addition to the computer program?

Its been stated in a few of the other threads that the pricing decision hasn't been made yet, but I think this is a good place to discuss it.... what are y'all willing to pay/think is appropriate?
DISCLAIMER: The info contain in this post is not approved by anyone, its just my opinion.
I think GWFonline is kinda unique in that not only are you joining the game, but buying sets.. so here's what I think....
THere should be a smallish "Membership fee" to allow you to play the game (I'd recommend some on the order of $15 for 6 months, $25 for a year, ala Days of Wonder and Yahoo All Star.. its seems the going rate for board games online)
As for the sets... I'd say they should go for about 1/2 the price of cards... I'd say that eliminateds the printing costs, and gets to the cost of the intellectual material itself.
Of course, I'm sure the Cotgonline crew will want to offer a special deal to get more people to join at start up... but I'd say that would make sense (to me anyway) for a start
Some people mentioned they hoped that having purchased all the card sets would get them something for the online game... I think that, if Filsinger Games has the info on whose bought the sets, and can access said information in a easy way, this might be a good plan to try to get some of the people 'on the fence" to try it... maybe make it so if you've bought the cards, you can access the cards you've purchased online, so you just pay to play.
Just so y'all know where I'm coming from, I'm pretty excited to have COTGonline come out, but there is definately a price point that would price me out (somewhere a bit above what I've suggested, I'd say)
Thoughts?

Personally I hope it's a flat fee, rather than a subscription charge.

In my opinion it will be a flat fee, and then an annual renewal that will include the cost of the new set when it releases.

Is CoTG online going to cost a monthly or yearly fee? and is this in addition to the computer program? Tom and Kris are still hammering out the pricing model, Ferg, so this information just isn't out there yet. As soon as a decision is made, though, it will get passed along to everyone else.

I would play if it were a flat fee but not if there is a monthly charge.
They should offer all ace games years with the flat fee and charge for all other game editions to be added
just my 2 cents

Hopefully they decide soon. It will be March before we know it and people need to start planning on the costs.

I only hope there is a snail mail option to sending in the payments. Got to many friends that got burned and someone is always sneaking around in cyberspace.

A flat fee for the program would be good. I wouldn't mind paying additional costs for the new cards when they came out though.
I just don't like the idea of having to pay a subscription cost every 6 months to a year so I can keep playing online. That sounds like it may be the only downside if Tom and co. do decide to go that rout.

While I agree that paying a periodic fee is sad, that's they way just about all internet gaming is, so I would imagine we should be prepared for it... hopefully it will be reasonable, I'd hate to see people not check it out due to cost.

Cost would definitely be a reason why I wouldn't check out COTG online.
I don't know if this has been asked yet, and if it has, I apologize, but I was wondering, will there be a feature that will allow you to upload bootlegs? Because for me, that would be a big selling point. And I'm sure it would be for a lot of other promoters out there.
Lets face it...bootlegs are so tightly entwined in the fabric of COTG, that a COTG online without the ability to use bootlegs on it would be...well..missing something.

I agree 100% .... unfortunately we won't be able to upload bootlegs, at least not for a while. I think the guys at Fed HQ are concerned about allowing people to add their own wrestlers because what would stop someone from uploading stats for COTG characters off their cards and being able to play without actually purchasing the online sets.
Hopefully they figure things out because a bootleg feature is definitely needed if they hope to provide a true COTG experience.

Does that mean if someone purchased the current GWF set on cardstock and wanted to use it online they'd had to buy the set all over again on the online format? That doesn't make sense to me.
So if I spent the money on COTGonline and I wanted to run a retro fed and uploaded star warrior, thantos, wolf etc..that would be considered stealing? Even though I already paid for the original sets?

I'm sure it cost a lot of money to finance this, develop the software, pay the artist to color the art, host the website, etc. You can't blame them for wanting/needing to recoup some of that money. I suggested that they offer a nice discount to people if they have already purchased the set in question. I'm not sure if Tom has records at Fed HQ on who ordered what games, but if he does that would be a logical thing to do.

That's a good question, DMK - what cards would be available? If I could buy the card from Filsinger Games, could I get it from COTGOnline? I don't see it as stealing as long as both cards are available from both systems. I would like to find that out before buying the system for my own use.
And since I don't post or view the guestbook as often as I normally do these days, is there a FAQ about COTG Online that I might have missed?
