no. if we knew then...of course not. how could anyone know? I just thought that someone had a clue as to what it may be is all. I am kind of new to this board so I don't know if anyone knew already.

If I had to guess I would say it's the computer simulation is done and will be available in 2007.

That's the odds-on favorite, I would agree.

So I apologize for not having been active here regularly, so maybe this has been discussed at length in the past -- but what is the gist of a GWF computer simulation?
It -sounds- cool....yet why would anything other than the tried and true dice-rolling and cards be appealing? If it were simply a program that allowed you to run matches, what's the point of that?

yet why would anything other than the tried and true dice-rolling and cards be appealing? Time my friend, time. For most players, the demands of work, school, and family mean less time for rolling, and that can hold players back who are struggling to "catch up" to the current stuff. I don't care if I ever get caught up or not, but I wish I could play at a faster pace than I am currently. A computer version would be a big help.

I don't know.....I have a pretty busy life with work, family, etc....but sitting down here and there for a card is hardly a big deal. The whole experience is the fun for me....seeing how the match goes. Having a simulation ring up the results quickly takes the fun away.
I could see a simulator as a supplement tool for playing around....doing tournaments or seeing who is better than whom over the span of a bunch of matches. But I sure wouldn't view a simulator as a replacement for actually playing the game.
It's a card and dice game. If rolling dice is too time-consuming for a person, why bother?

But I sure wouldn't view a simulator as a replacement for actually playing the game. It looks like I misunderstood you. I too would never want a computer to simulate results. I figured the computer version of COTG would be something similar to the COTG Desktop program that someone already created. In that, you still play the game, but by clicking instead of rolling, therefore, still saving time.

Any other way just seems less satisfying. I've used Desktop briefly, and to be honest, it really doesn't make playing any easier besides from the fact you don't have to shuffle through all of your cards to find the guys you're looking for. Also, you don't have to worry about the dice rolling off the table and getting lost under the couch. :-) The big downside of the program is that imputing all the stats and art onto it is a real task. One that for me, just isn't worth it.

I'm against it, or I should say not interested in it, for three reasons.
I spend on average, ten hours a day in front of computer screens as part of my career,
I would rather trust the forces of Earth and gravity rather than the programmed mind of a computer when rolling those dice.
I love it the way it is.
Swarm.

I agree would rather have the feel of the cards and the dice in my hands.

This sounds really cool but I still havent finished putting my older cards in the cotg desktop I got. My current cards are in there but it took a hell of alot of time. I know the only way they could be preloaded is if you payed which is almost worth it for ease but I am not gonna pay a 2nd time for cards I already own. I would always play with the cards if I had the time and space(I have three roomates and no table space.) The desktop is great for me but I still dont even have time for that so redoing cards is not that appealing to me. Unless there are details i dont know about (which there probably are a ton)I probably wont use this as appealing as it sounds.

Swarm and neily: The cards and dice will still be there - at least for the GWF, CPC, LOW, and anything else Tom has got lined up for us in the future.
The aCe, however, will be going strictly digital.
gamemaster: Every card, chart, official match type is preloaded with COTGonline...just an FYI.

I'm not "against it" per se -- I think the idea is cool. But I guess I don't foresee a lot of times that I'd want to use a computer version of the game over the traditional cards and dice.
I assume that CPC and GWF and aCe will also continue business as usual? Two completely separate entities? I'd obviously be flat-out against it if it was a sign of things to come and would ultimately replace the cards.
