As a dry-run for an upcoming GWF card, I decided to give my house rules a proper test by running the Royal Rumble. To answer a few questions before they're asked:
No, I don't have full stats for these guys.
No, I don't know who the thirtieth entrant really is.
Yes, I weighted the entrance order to an extent.
Anyhow, on with the show. Entrant #1 is Kenny Dykstra. That's the worst number in the draw, and it doesn't get any better because #2 is the Undertaker! Taker deals out the punishment until #3 arrives, and it's Donald Trump! Taker dumps Kenny from the ring and waits for the billionaire to enter. Trump rolls into the ring, then back out again to hide, and here comes entrant #4 Chavo Guerrero. Chavo goes for Taker with great courage but little actual effect. Chavo is eliminated just as the buzzer sounds for #5...the Great Khali. Khali and Taker square up, and Taker easily gets the upper hand before scoring with the Tombstone. The Deadman is dominating this match so far.
#6 is Hardcore Holly and he goes for the downed Khali. Meanwhile, Trump has snuck back into the ring with a chair and takes a shot at Taker. No-sell, goozle, chokeslam to the outside. Jeff Hardy is #7, and he goes straight for Taker. Rapid-fire offence puts Undertaker on the defensive for a moment, but a Swanton atempt is caught in midair and Jeff is swiftly tossed out of the match. Holly sends a wounded Khali out to join him. Stand back...entrant #8 is Greg Helms. He too charges straight into a beating from Taker, but the opportunistic Holly scores a few hits on the distracted Deadman. #9 is Ric Flair, and he too joins the gang-up, but Taker is fighting back. Holly and Helms are quickly eliminated, leaving Taker versus Flair. Carlito is in at #10, as Flair gets an edge with a low blow.
Viscera draws #11, and he may be in trouble as Taker again mounts a comeback against the odds and eliminates Flair and Carlito in short order. #12 is Tommy Dreamer...sneak attack by Test! Chairshot, big boot, Test Drive, and Viscera wastes no time picking up the pieces and tossing Dreamer over the top. Ominously, Kevin Thorn is in at #13, swiftly followed by Sabu at #14. The Extremists go for Taker, and the numbers game finally catches up with him. Taker is eliminated, but that was a hell of a run. King Booker is entrant #15, marking the halfway point.
Entrant #16 is Edge, and he spears an unsuspecting Sabu before tossing him over. Viscera and Thorn go toe-to-toe. The Miz is in at #17, but not for long as Booker gleefully kicks him straight back out. The gloating King is dethroned a moment later when Edge tips him over as well. #18 is Matt Hardy. He goes straight for Edge, but walks into a spear. Viscera sends Thorn out as Edge hauls Matt up and delivers a mocking Twist of fate, then tosses him over at the feet of entrant #19, Johnny Nitro. Nitro puts a quick boot in, then nips into the ring and joins forces with Edge to eliminate Viscera. Nitro turns on Edge as entrant #20 hits the ring, and it's Finlay.
Edge pays back Nitro with interest, sending him over the top. #21 is MVP, and he charges Edge only to be dropped to the outside. Edge spears Finlay for good measure, and he's firmly in control of this match as entrant #22 arrives...and it's his tag partner Randy Orton. Rated-RKO quickly eliminate Finlay, but Edge is caught with an RKO from nowhere and it really is every man for himself. CM Punk is in at #23 as Edge starts a comeback on Orton, but the Legend Killer's betrayal pays off and it's Edge who goes over. #24 is RVD, and he and Punk circle each other warily before locking up. Punk comes out on top while Orton takes a breather, but it doesn't last long because #25 is Chris Benoit. Release German suplex, and Orton joins Edge on the outside.
Sandman is #26, and he clears house with that kendo stick, delivering a beating to everyone in the ring and eliminating both Benoit and Van Dam. Chris Masters is in at #27, and he gets his share of the pain as well....and so does #28, Kane! Sandman is taking on all-comers! Shawn Michaels is #29, and he dodges the cane only to walk into the Anaconda Vice. The last man in is Shelton Benjamin at #30, and he takes on Sandman as Masters starts whaling on the downed Kane, but the monster sits up and chokeslams him to the outside. Michaels mounts a comeback on Punk, but the youngster ducks a superkick and hoists Michaels over the top. Final four are Punk, Benjamin, Sandman and Kane. Punk's celebrations are short-lived as Kane clotheslines him out, and Benjamin takes a huge DDT from the Sandman before being dragged up and over. It's down to Kane and the Sandman. Sandman breaks the kendo stick across Kane's back, but Kane is unimpressed. Chokeslam to Sandman! It has to be over! Kane drapes him over the ropes and hits a clothesline...Sandman is swaying but not down. Kane goes for the big boot...Sandman low-bridges the top rope...Kane goes over! Sandman wins! Someone get that man a beer!
Hmm. Need to tweak the numbers a little - get more people in the ring at a time - but it works fine.
EDIT: Hm. Last man is Super Crazy. Ah well, no matter.
