Asheville Civic Center
Sold Out crowd
Game Boy came out as the crowd finished settling into their seats, taking the house microphone from ring announcer, Skip Morton.
GameBoy: “My two men, Draven and Wally, have not had much success as a tag team and it took me a while but I’ve figured out why. You see, their image is just wrong. So I’ve remade them into the two things besides wrestling that you geeks like….Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter! So without further ado, I present my new team….the mighty salad wizard of the North, Waldorf…and his partner, the Hogwarts student with the prettiest dropkick in all the indies, Draven Potter!”
Out came Wally, the Slow Ass Postman in wizard robes and a long white beard followed by Draven in the uniform of House Gryffindoir. Wally seemed to enjoy his image change while Draven appeared a bit uncomfortable.
GameBoy: “I’m calling out any tag team in the back with the guts to face MY tag team…the indy‘s greatest tag team…to come on out and take your beating like men.”
Clutch’s “The Mob Goes Wild” began playing, bringing out Randy and Dandy Myers, aka Fine n’ Dandy. The two brothers hit the ring and a match began.
Match #1: The Indy’s Greatest Tag Team (Waldorf the Salad Wizard & Draven Potter) (w. GameBoy) v. Fine n’ Dandy (Randy & Dandy Myers)
-Fine n’ Dandy own the self proclaimed Indy’s Greatest Tag Team, though Waldorf manages to provide all the offense for his team. Dandy Myers gets the pinfall for his team after a 450 Splash on Waldorf though.
Winners: Fine n’ Dandy, by pinfall (4:24)
Afterwards, Randy pulled out a rolled up banner from under the ring. He and his brother unrolled it to reveal the logo for the WLA (Wrestling League of Asheville). The two young men carried the banner with them to the backstage area.
Match #2: A.C. Casey v. “Ragin Redneck” Keith Briggs
-despite both men being known more for brawlin’ then wrestling, the first two minutes of this one are very scientific. This all changes though when Briggs kicks Casey in the nuts. Pretty much a brawl after that. Casey scores the pinfall after a dropkick and with a handful of jeans.
Winner: A.C. Casey, by pinfall (6:24)
Match #3: Scissor fight & Guillotine v. New Frontier (Alexander Farrell & Christopher Delario)
-two young tag teams looking to make good first impressions and a definite good impression is made. Both teams go all out to give the fans a show. All four men get a pin attempt made on them during the match, but Scissorfight puts Delario down for the three count with the Ax Kick.
Winners: Scissor fight & Guillotine, by pinfall (7:16)
After the match, the crowd began a “You Guys Rock!” chant aimed at both team. Farrell & Delario offered to shake hands with the Aethrans but were answered by being spit on by the two brawlers. The crowd boo’d as the two Aethrans went to the back.
Match #4: Travis Bickle v. Charles Lee Ray (w. Chucky) (Barbed Wire Steel Bat match)
-these two wrestlers are visiting from the Japanese hardcore promotion called Blood Sport. Bickle completely dominates during this one, getting hold of the bat early on and just battering Ray with it. Even interference from Chucky only delays the inevitable as Bickle uses Taxi Ride in NYC to win this brief one.
Winner: Travis Bickle, by pinfall (2:54)
Intermission
Match #5: Baron Michael Strauss v. Ricky Reb
-Reb got a very early advantage by delivering a piledriver to the Baron. Strauss rolled out of the ring to recover and Reb attempted an ax handle from the ring apron. Strauss wisely moved and Reb hit the railing around the ringside area instead. The crafty Baron then rolled Reb back into the ring and got the pinfall.
Winner: Baron Michael Strauss, by pinfall (3:44)
Match #6: Travis Lawler, “Tennessee Titan’” Andy Martin, & “Fireball” Tommy Wayne v. The Von Stones (Daniel, Derek, & Kenneth) (street fight)
-did you know there was bad blood between Tennessee and Texas? There must be as these two teams tore into one another. The heels isolate Daniel and punish him in the early minutes. The end sees all 6 men fighting in and around the ring. Martin delivers two big boots to Daniel Von Stone’s mouth and follows with the Pumphandle Slam to get the pinfall.
Winners: Travis Lawler, “Tennessee Titan” Andy Martin, & “Fireball” Tommy Wayne, by pinfall (7:56)
Match #7: “Suicidal” Silo Storm v. C.S.G.
-the rumored masked alter ego of promoter Eric Michele, C.S.G., and Storm put on another fine example of hardcore brawling. The fight goes all over the Civic Center until C.S.G. makes Storm tap out with Breakdown.
Winner: C.S.G., by submission (10:04)
Eric M.
