I hate the American Guy, I hate the gimmick and I hate playing matches with him so I stopped using him.

Greg Valentine when he was part of the storylines. Just couldn't reconcile myself to that intrusion of reality into my fantasy.
Before his update, I was this close to putting Sly Drury on hiatus. He's no monster for me now, but at least he's not the king of lost potential.

I don't refuse to use these guys but I Don't like their characters at all..... Gryt (he's just soooo damn dull and has nothing to offer,oh yea and he sucks) Avinar (he's just 'there' no real substance.) American Guy (can't put my finger on it but I just don't like him!)....
tkx again, the dice don't lie!

I'm with Mark on Greg Valentine....I think I used him a little at first but then decided I just didn't want him in my GWF. He wasn't a favorite of mine to begin with, and there was always something unsettling about a modern, real-life wrestler in the futuristic GWF.
I might add that not only have I always viewed the GWF as "real" in terms of not being sports entertainment but in fact being actual wrestling, but as such I've always figured that guys able to wrestle for real had to be stronger and more larger than life.
Some guy from the 20th century who participated in the staged, entertainment stuff would get murdered in the ring.

Never refused, but seldom use...
Although if I played through the Greg Valentine days, I most likely would have skipped him - for the same reasons as Mark.
Currently, I'm not a big fan of Vidtek's 'return to the ring' card. I like the character, I guess I just wish he would've stayed as a straight interview guy allowing the singles spot on the Sultans of Swagger to be filled with a new character.

Same with me on Valentine. I started using him, but just couldn't keep it up.

Two guys: Stalker and Colossus
Stalker: Was about as one-dimensional as they come. And he was WAY over-rated with a PIN 5 (2)!
Colossus: No robotic parts allowed before, so allowing a "cyborg" in the ring made no sense to me. Plus his card mechanics gave me a headache.
Correction: THREE guys. Vin Strutter: This is WRESTLING, people. Not the circus.

I never dropped any wrestler, if i didn't like the gimmick i would make one to work. Unfortunatly Reptillo had his time in the ring cut down because he stunk.

No. There are guys I don't use ALL the time, but every character has a specific purpose in mind and usually has a cool feud.
That's what's best about this game. One of the best things Tom has ever said (actually it's written in the Dark Menace book) -- he said he thought even the undercard guys should be interesting. He was speaking of Vanity, Killer Queen, Terak and the like.
Someone mentioned Gryt earlier, this guy is great. There are always gonna be guys who statostically aren't great, but you can still put them in interesting storylines.
Gryt thinks he is a powerhouse, so run a few cards where he challenges all the big guys. He'll get squashed but it can be great comic relief if written right.
Actually he and Betrayer were not that bad as Big Things.

Closest I did was not using Amazonia in particular against men.

Gryt (he's just soooo damn dull and has nothing to offer,oh yea and he sucks) I kind of thought about that too until he was in a tag match against Pride and got Chopped and Headbutted into oblivion only to survive long enough to tag out and be on the winning team. From that day forth, Gryt became my resident punching bag character and he hasn't done too bad for himself.

For me that guy was Heracles. I don't know if it was me rolling the dice or a broken card, but he was horrible and I hated using him, it only got a little better after he turne, but even then it still wasn't fun.

mid/undercard guys can provide the best moments in COTG IMO

Agreed. Having an awesome match with guys that don't have the big finishers, but still have lots of personality is one of the best parts of the game.
As for Gryt, if I ever get back into playing the COTG era feds, I think a team with him and Stigma seems pretty natural.
