Sweet merciful crap, Animal Pack in 2088 (I don't think they had an official name then) are friggin' fantastic. I never rembered this team being THAT good back when I originally used them 15 years ago or so. I seem to remember them always being competitive and maybe a short title run here or there, but otherwise, fairly silent.
As some people know, in my fed, belts are defended on every card with the belts being vacated at the end of every year (25 cards) Due to this, there is a high volume of title changes, but there have been a few stand outs. The longest streak for a title run was Star Warrior with an 8-card title run (let's call is 4 months in game time). Animal Pack just broke that on Card #10 in 2088 with 9 cards by beating Beauty & The Beast (who had qualified for #1 contender by destroying the Space Croppers in a feud while the stronger contenders were embroiled in various non-title feuds). They easily dispatched them just as they easily beat the Norse Gods, Royal Court (Queen and Knight), and even the Gladiators. I'm very eager to see what team (if any) can take them down. The Gladiators had the strongest chance, but they were squashed in one match and in a rematch fought a good fight, but were taken down.
Anyhoo, anybody else have a dominant Animal Pack run???

Yes, they dominated my early GWF over The Greek Gods and the Gladiators. For me one of the best teams.

Animal Pack was superb for me as well as Beasts of Burden. The Pack were multi time tag champs. So yeah they were good. Always felt that Mane, Badger & Ram were never given the proper treatment with upgrades etc.

Yes...they were that GOOD!
Badger was the BEST tag specilist of the invasion years...just think if he had come to the GWF in his more youthfuls days!

Although they lost most of their matches against the Gladiators, Animal Pack overall was a very dominant tag team aginst the rest of the tag teams in my fed. They still hold my record for the most IP Tag Title reigns with just 1 more than the Cosmic Forces.

I was ans still am a big Animal Pack fan. I wished Tom had given them an upgrade or two. The only teams who challanged the for me were the Gladiators and Bishop Hell and Invincible Krakan. Those 3 were my dominamt tag teams back then.

They were all right. I do plan to revisit that thread of history after getting through Early Classics, and this time I won't have my own bootlegs muddying the waters, so maybe they'll do better without all the extraneous competition.

THey were fairly good but I didn't really use them much until 2090. After 2090, they kinda just were lost as they didn't really match up well with the improved Brute and Massacre.

They are one of my top two teams in my current 2088-2089 fed, along with TitanPower.

I loved the Animal Pack back in the day but once the Glads got there cleansing it was a up hill battle for the Animen. I still remember doing the faction vs faction wars with them. The Animen for some reason when it was 4 on 4 could always squeeze out a victory with Wolf.

They did well for me too. They won both the GWF tag titles and the IP titles.

Call it the jinx of praising them on the board, but the Animal Pack finally lost their titles last night. They had completely destroyed every villain tag team so I put them in a triple threat elimination match against the Flying Titans (Pulsar + Pit Viper) and the Bomb Squad (Commander Sam + Adam Blast). It was actually rather amusing. Basically, the Animal Pack was destroying the Flying Titans. Pit Viper (with 5 fatigue) gets a reversal and tags in Sam. Sam attacks the Incredible Badger. Badget reverses it, hits a quick move, nailed with the Andromeda Drop and pinned Sam, eliminating the Bomb Squad. Pit Viper jumped in hit a few quick moves and then nailed Badger with his finisher. I didn't roll a Pin Save as at that time, Badger only would have needed a 6+ to kick out. I roll a 5 and the Titans are new ttag champs. Now I can't wait for the rematch tonight!!!

Badger + anyone = Pretty good tag team. Badger + Ram = one of the best.

In my first fed the Animal Pack were awesome. They gave the Gladiators more of a fight than the Greek Gods did. Animal Pack and the Gladiators exchanged the tag titles consistently.

According to my records Animal Pack had the best win percentage of any of my top ten tag teams of all time at 65.15%. According to my ratings and point system they rank 8th overall and would have definitely ranked a lot higher if they put in more years as a tag team.
But Ram wanted to be a singles star so bad....

Incredible Badger was by far the best offensive tag wrestler in the game when he arrived in 2088. Did anyone else have anything even close to a (0)/(+3) double finisher at that time? No. Nor would they until the Gladiators went through the Cleansing a couple years later.
I hated Beasts of Burden. Better tag team name, but my gripe was always that Iron Mane was the best the Andromeda could come up with when trying to push a half man-half lion. "Poster boy?" Um, right.

Well, wouldn't you know it... I finished up 2088 (2088 analysis to come in another thread in a few days) and I held my annual battle royal to determine new champions. I only had time for tag teams last night... and who won? Animal Pack! They won the battle royal to get a bye to the finals of the title tournament. As the last remaining tag teams other then the Animal Pack, the Norse Gods fought Beauty & The Beast (Creeper seems to always do well in battle royals) and won by DQ. Animal Pack then beat the Norse Gods in a great match to take the titles. Could be another dominant year for Animal Pack as the Villains didn't really add any Tier 1 tag teams (though I am curious to see how Alien Corps do since I remember them doing fairly well when I played 15 years ago. I'm also curious to see how the Royal Family (Exo-King/Killer Queen) does as Killer Queen did pretty well with Death Knight last year and will only get stronger with Exo-King by his side.
Of course, in 2090, life gets tougher for the Pack as the cleansed Gladiators and the Cosmic Forces come around. Can't wait!
