Is there anyone out there still doing the Early Classics? I just started year 7 and have had fun "starting over".
Current Champs: Heavyweight Champion: Caiman Tag Team Champions: Torin Caelum and KO Keller.

I am.
I love the fact that after hearing all this time about how tough Omega and Morpheus were, that it is being proven now.
While running 2087 it was hard to imagine this as Omega pretty much sucked due to age. Now when I get to that era it will bring it to life. And building the relationship between Cosmos and Star Warrior also has more meaning to me now.
Would like to read your fed sometime if you are posting. Always like to read about the era that I am in.

I am too... I'm in mid-2084.. though I haven't played for a bit, with 2087 on the pbp sim, and POW MMA, but I will get there eventually...
I really like having the history (which I refer to in my 2087 write-ups) it definately makes things feel 'epic'

I started about a year ago and have done it off and on since then (haven't had a card for about 2 months now, though, thanks to writing a little thing called POW Revival 2122!). I'm in early 2076 with current heavyweight champ as Torin Caelum and tag champs as Rock Solid.
I'm dying to get back up to 2087 and relive the "glory years." But I'm not gonna rush it. I want to get to know these guys from the early days.

I've played 2074-2080, once my New Beginnings Fed is caught up I will pick up Classics again. If they add it to COTG Online it will be played more frequently by me.

Because I got back to COTG after LOW came out, I started with Early Classics when I started my GWF fed a few years ago (I'm now about halfway through 2113). I am really glad I did because I really liked playing out that time period and it adds some great history to my GWF fed.

I've just recently began 2074. I'm running 5 different feds, in different times... I treat it kind of like WWE 24/7... or GWF 24/7. I play a few cards in whatever fed/year I'm in the mood for. Caelum is my favorite wrestler in 2074 at this point, and I'm enjoying the fact that Morpheus and Omega are allied and feuding simultaneously.

I've played ONLY EC since it came out in 2004, and am loving every minute of it.

I have just entered January 2080. On my last card, Commander Sam and KO Keller retained the tag titles over the Mensans and in the upset of the year Santon the Loner brutalized Omega to become GWF Heavyweight Champion! At least now the ninja will be able to retire with some peace knowing he made it to the top of the mountain.
The Classics sets are awesome and well worth diving into!

Wow, it is great to see so many people playing. This week I will start putting up some results. I am half way through 2080 now.
At what point did the GWF start having more than one card a month? I was trying to remember that today, but can't remember. Is it when it was "born" in 2087? Just wondering what your thoughts were.
thanks

I just started with 2074. In order to be faithful to GWF history, I fudged it so that Morpheus would win the championship tournament. I'm going to run a couple of cards without a title defense, and then I'll start 2075 and have Omega take the title from him. From that point, whatever happens happens.
By the way, can anyone remind me of where that story is written. I remember reading that one source of Morpheus' jealousy was that everyone considered Omega to have been the first GWF champion, whereas Morpheus had really won the belt first but then lost it to Omega in his first defense. I've looked though the classic sets' booklets, but I can't find that story. Can anyone help me out?
Anyway, Crosscurrents won the tag tournament, beating the Guardians in the finals. That one I ran straight, of course.
I really like the early classics cards, and I'm glad to be able to fill in the gaps in GWF history. It's going to take a while, but I won't rush. It will be a lot of fun.

The classics sets are great! The storyline that you are looking for is in the Early Classics set booklet called "GWF: Early Classics of the 2070's and 2080's"
I am in the year 2080 right now, and KO Keller has become the first man to hold both the GWF Heavyweight Title and the GWF Tag Titles (with Sam) at the same time.

This was something from before. I've been gone from the game for six years, and this is something I remember from before I left. It was talking more about Morpheus' jealousy of Omega than about the early days themselves, I think. It's not the EC booklet, but something much older. Or my memory is just really shot. But I swear I remember this story from when I was playing before.

That's when the prime Omega and Morpheus cards were introduced...along with the back story on the title history. It can easily become confusing because 2079 was released 'before' 2074...and the Early Classics amalgamation set comes even later. There is some excellent reference material on the EC/Classics sets to be found in the CotG HOF Section:

Well, I am about one-third of the way through 2075. Omega is the singles champion, and Dorado Sundown has the tag belts. Obervations so far:
1. Dorado Sundown has been nearly unbeatable. In fact, after losing their very first match, they have been unbeaten since.
2. The Mensans are really weak. Same for Crosscurrents, who won the tag team title tournament and have won one match since.
3. The 2074 card for K.O. Keller is very tough. I have not had him fight Omega yet, but he is unbeaten in 2075 to date.
4. I like Paladin Power a lot. They are not great as a tag team--decent, but not great--but I like the characters.
5. Morpheus just has not been that impressive.

Morpheus just has not been that impressive. Alot of your reflections from your current place in 2075 sounds familiar to my own fed back when I was in 2075. 1. Dorado Sundown was also virtually unbeatable early in my fed too. They routinely defeated The Guardians and held my tag team championship from October 2074 until June 2076. Although they were only in my fed for a couple of years, their complete dominance during their stay earned them induction into my personal GWF Hall of Fame. 2. The Mensans really struggled for me too and they never won the tag team championship even once in my fed. Although CrossCurrents had 2 relatively brief reigns as my tag team champions, overall they struggled too in my fed. 3. K.O. Keller was awesome in my fed too. He won the Galactic Championship in my fed in March 0f 2075 and that was the first of what turned out to be 6 championship reigns for him until he retired. 4. Paladin Power started off slow for me too but they eventually became really successful. Their first reign as tag team champions in my fed started in June of 2076 and they had 3 impressive reigns as champions in my fed. During the Early Classics Period in my fed, only Dorado Sundown and the GameMasters were a more dominant tag team than Paladin Power. 5. Morpheus started off losing alot for me too. But before he retired, he still accumulated 4 championship reigns.

Alot of your reflections from your current place in 2075 sounds familiar to my own fed back when I was in 2075.
1. Dorado Sundown was decent in my fed, but never unbeatable. They didn't win the Tag titles until October 1st, 2075 and only held them for about 4 months. This stint went hand and hand with a title run for Blacklash as Galaxian Champ that lasted 3 months. Albeit while Omega, Morpheus, and Screw were all injured due to an invasion by POW's own Jack Hood.
2. The Mensans never did exceptional for me, but they were my original tag champs and held the belts twice, both times for 2 months. Due to no other team stepping up from Sept. 2074-Jan.2076, they won by default the Tag Team of the Year award. Even though it was only because there were 3 other teams whom held the titles in that time frame, but not as long. Their 4 total months were longer then the Paladin's at 3, Sam and Keller's at 2, and Dorado Sundown's beginning of their reign was only 2 months in.
3. K.O. Keller as of late 2080 had been a 2 time Galaxian Champ in my fed, first winning it April 5th, 2076 and again on September 18th, 2078. He has held the title for a total of 5 months. Him and Sam have also held the Tag titles for a total of 6 months. He also is the only person to have won my annual Ring Warrior tournament twice.
4. Paladin Power started off slow for me too but they eventually became really successful. They have had 4 title reigns as of late 2080. As of that time, they had the 2nd longest tag title reign lasting 9 months and 26 days. Their first title reign came on January 25th, 2075 and their last came on March 6th, 2078. Only Defiance has held the tag titles for more reigns and has never had as dominant a run as the Paladin's did from March 2078 - January 2079.
5. Morpheus started off losing alot for me too and despite winning the Galaxian title twice, his runs have been for 28 days and 1 month 25 days. His biggest impact came as Omega's partner, as they held the tag titles for over 10 months, chasing out Dorado Sundown from my fed. The only other thing os note he has done is win the 2080 Rigel Rumble.
