New Year's Revolution (presented by the AWA brand of Major League Wrestling)
PREVIEW for Sunday January 8, 2007 from Puerto Rico
1. World Champion Nick Bockwinkel vs Bobo Brazil vs Mil Mascaras vs Don Leo Jonathan vs Jim Londos vs Don Muraco in an Elimination Chamber match for the World Championship.
This is the first-ever Elimination Chamber match in the history of Major League Wrestling (MLW). Although fellow Heenan Family member Don Leo Jonathan will be in this match, the odds are stacked against Nick Bockwinkel being able to retain his World Championship. As the winner of a series of Beat the Clock matches on a previous edition of RAW, Jim Londos has won the strategic advantage of entering the Elimination Chamber last while the entry of the other 5 participants will be determined randomly. Friends and partners in the tag team The Brothers of Other Mothers, Bobo Brazil and Mil Mascaras could also have a strong advantage in this match by working together. But, since there must be a single winner, what will happen if it comes down to Brazil and Mascaras in the end?
2. Jimmy Snuka vs Intercontinental Champion Larry Zbyszko
The intense hatred between these two men began on an episode of Larry Land when Zbyszko hit Snuka in the head with a coconut after Snuka challenged Zbyszko's body guard Cowboy Bob Orton Jr to a match for the automatic title shot that Orton Jr won by being among the survivors in his match at the Survivor Series. On the following edition of RAW, Snuka defeated Orton Jr for that automatic title shot which he decided to use against Zbyszko at New Year's Revolution. Will Zbyszko's reign as Intercontinental Champion that started last summer at Summer Slam continue or will Snuka become the new Intercontinental Champion at New Year's Revolution?
3. MLW Tag Team Champions the Vachons vs the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff in a best 2 out of 3 falls match
Former United States Tag Team Champions the Iron Sheik and Volkoff won this title match be defeating the other tag teams in the AWA brand in an elimination match on the edition of RAW following Survivor Series. In recent episodes of RAW, the Iron Sheik and Volkoff have looked good against the Vachons in singles action and look to give the Vachons trouble in their attempt to retain the MLW tag Team Championship that they won at Cyber Sunday in a tag team turmoil match.
4. The Crusher and Larry Hennig vs King Kong Bundy and Ox Baker.
After Baker and Bundy injured Larry Hennig's son Curt Hennig last month on RAW, "the Axe" teams up with avowed Heenan Family enemy The Crusher to avenge the injury of Curt Hennig who still has not returned from his injury.
5. Ladies Champion Ida Mae Martinez vs Sherri Martel and Cassandra in a triple threat elimination match
All 3 women on the AWA brand have a chance to become the new Ladies Champion. Because this is a triple threat elimination match, current Ladies Champion Ida Mae Martinez must be pinned in either the first or second fall in order to lose her title.
6. Antonino Rocca vs Ray Stevens
After Stevens interfered in a match on RAW between fellow Heenan Family member Bockwinkel and Rocca and caused Rocca to lose this match that would have given Rocca a future title shot if he had won, Rocca challenged Stevens to a one on one match at New Years Revolution
7. Koko B. Ware vs Missing Link in a ladder match with Frankie in a cage being the prize above the ring.
Last week on RAW, Ware was attacked from behind by the Missing Link who then tried to eat Frankie. But Frankie was captured in a cage by Abdullah Farouk who was making his debut in Major League Wrestling and introduced himself as the manager for the Missing Link. Farouk said he is determined to show he can make an impact by arranging for the Missing Link to have a PPV match at New Years Revolution against Koko B. Ware with Frankie in a cage being the prize hanging above the ring. Will Frankie fly or fry at New Years Revolution?
8. Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Yukon Eric, and Cousin Luke vs Gorgeous George and the Heart Thrashers (Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell) in a 6 man tag team elimination match.
This match got set up as a result of what happened on the first edition of RAW following Survivor Series as all of the AWA tag teams were involved in an elimination match with the winner getting a title shot at MLW Tag Team Champions the Vachons. After Yukon Eric and Cousin Luke were eliminated, it was down to former MLW Tag Team Champions the Heart Thrashers vs the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff. But, instead of leaving the ringside area, Yukon Eric grabbed the Heart Thrashers' manager Cassandra and kissed her- including even putting his tongue in her mouth. Distracted by what Yukon Eric was doing to their manager, the Heart Thrashers then lost the match to the Iron sheik and Volkoff which cost them a chance to regain their former MLW Tag Team Championship from the Vachons. The Heart Thrashers are now seeking revenge in an elimination match that has since expanded to also include Duggan and George.
9. Hot Seat: MLW Chairman announces the location of Wrestlemania.
Sammartino promises to reveal the location of Wrestlemania the biggest card in Major League Wrestling's history and which will celebrate the one-year anniversary of Major League Wrestling (MLW)!
