As we know, I've been out of the CotG loop for 14 years... Currently, my collection only goes to 2097. But, I was playing around with some cards last night, having a few good "past time" fun matches such as... Alpha Force vs Thantos - Alpha Force was always my favorite (I actually had the SE card before his regular one) for some reason. A rather long and very good match. It was a fun one to start off the night with (being my fist time sitting down with CotG in nearly 14 years). Alpha Force was victorious. Bishop Hell vs Star Warrior - Star Warrior rolled over him so fast it wasn't even funny. I kind of felt bad for the poor ole' Bishop. Star Warrior didn't even have to use his finisher... Wolf vs Comrade Terror - Another one that I always remembered being fun. Comrade Terror wins by DQ! Cassandra vs Amazonia - Oddly enough, Cassandra won. The match itself was the second longest of the four, and I was rather surprised since I didn't really remember Cassandra being all that good. These were just normal matches so I could get back into the groove of things before kicking up a new fed (I already have more CotG cards on the way!), but I was reading through the rules (which totally don't have the cover shown in the image at the online store, btw) and I wondered: I would say "yes", but the original rules weren't very clear. A character's Cage rating increases by 1 with fatigue just like their PIN rating, right?

A character's Cage rating increases by 1 with fatigue just like their PIN rating, right? That's how it's played according to the rules as I understand them.

Cage ratings would have to increase, because some guys (like Thantos) have cage ratings of 1 and therefore couldn't be beat unless the cage rating increased with fatigue.
This was a rule I discovered long ago when my dad and I had a fed and played with the basic rules. I was rather upset to discover that there was no way to beat Thantos in a cage...until I took a look at the advanced rules.

Anyone know why Bishop Hell's cage rating sucks so bad. When Galactic Punisher debuted they feuded and had a cage match that Punisher one in one move.

I always assumed it was a balance thing...Hell's card is REALLY good (especially when compare to others in 2088.. Hellfire being a DQ is really the main downside.. the high cage rating balances that out for no DQ matches.
Back to the rules question, does anyone else use Cage ratings for all non-DQ matches?
I don't think the original rules call for it, but many of the specialty matches created later do... I always sorta intrepreted it as a 'hardcore' rating, really.

I usually only use them if the special match rules says too. I too see it as a "toughness" rating though.

Cage ratings would have to increase, because some guys (like Thantos) have cage ratings of 1 and therefore couldn't be beat unless the cage rating increased with fatigue. You could still beat the holders of 1 ratings with finishers added. But that's a moot point because everyone I know increases the rating just like a regular PIN.

That's true Mark. If I remember right though the cage match in question had Thantos facing Lord Nexus, who had two finishers but they were both 0 ratings. That's where the real confusion set in. Luckily it led us to playing with the advanced rules, and having even more fun.
