Probably a little of both. It's certainly not something his opponents would be ready for... and it's personally a little unsettling -- amputees always make me uneasy when I even look at them; I can't imagine being "grappled" by stubs. It reminds me of something out of Silent Hill or some other horror video game.
The disadvantages would be obvious, I think, and the fact that he even tired out for the team at all speaks volumes for this kid's determination.
