Playing (or trying to?) guitar games are all the rage at the moment . I haven't got the games . But what are your favourite guitar riffs (tunes) ?

I always liked the opening of Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog" for air guitaring along to. The opening of Rush's "The Spirit of Radio" is pretty cool, too.
As far as guitar solos that most people have never heard, allow me to shamelessly plug Marillion again and recommend Steve Rothery's solos in either "Sugar Mice," "Easter," or "This Strange Engine."

The thing that I think is funny about the guitar video games is that kids that spend hours playing that game could actually take that time and learn to play a real guitar.
I am trying to teach myself guitar right now so that I can play for my baby.
My favorite guitar solo is from the Eagles "Hotel California". The solo in Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" (live version) is great too.

Definately the solo from Layla.. the REAL version, not the crappy unplugged one.
Hotel California is a close 2nd, followed by While My Guitar Gently Weeps (by the Beatles, but guitar solo by Clapton)

The openings to Voodoo Chile and Back in Black are probably my two favorite ever.

Most any AC/DC song will do, come to think of it, but Back in Black is probably top 2 or 3.

I did actually have a guitar about 20 years ago . Was asked by a few bands to join them . But never did , instead I formed my own band , with me on vocals .
Darth Turksih I agree with Reign In Blood by Slayer Also Black Metal by Venom / Never Again by Discharge / Born To Be Wild by Stepping Wolf (was it ?) / Telephone Numbers By U.K Subs / We Don't Get Fooled Again by The Who /

Tough question, but I would have to go with Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child O' Mine."
Never has a guitar sounded so clean and simultaneously so dirty. And that solo near the end still blows me away.

The openings to Voodoo Chile and Back in Black are probably my two favorite ever. Totally agree. Hendrix was the man! Voodoo Child is the best song ever.

Voodoo Chile is very good, but my favorite Hendrix solo is the middle of "All Along the Watchtower." "Purple Haze" and "Foxy Lady" both have iconic intros, also.

No self-respecting wrestling message board can let this go without a mention of "Iron Man" by Sabbath.
Also: "Smoke on the Water," "Cut-Out Witch" (obligatory Guided by Voices reference), "All Day and All of the Night," "Them Bones" by AIC, "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, & Understanding" (the Costello version) and the Who's "The Seeker."

This is gonna be a little bit out of left field, but for anyone who's never heard King Crimson's "Larks' Tongues in Aspic Part III" from Three of a Perfect Pair and the continuous sixteenth-note solo guitar into for the first 45 seconds or so of that song by Robert Fripp (and I'm guessing I might be the only one here who knows it), you're missing a clinic in picking.
Fripp and Adrian Belew's dueling guitar interplay in KC's "Frame by Frame" is pretty cool, too.

Just thought of this and yes I know P am a bit slow on the uptake but wouldn't this fall into the same catagory of you play a wrestling game why not wrestle. If I play guitar, the worst that can happen is maybe carpal tunnel syndrome. If I wrestle, the worst that can happen is maybe ... quadraplegia. Do the math. In metric is okay, since you're Canadian.
